Not at all. I compare it to rooting for chaos in the BCS rankings. make it stink as much as possible so it has to be fixed. I hope the yanks win 5 or 6 series in a row and their payroll goes 350 million.

That being said, when I was a kid the only basball I could watch on TV was the Yanks on WPIX. My dad took me to Pirate games, but we watched a lot of Yankee games on the tube. So I have a bit of a soft spot for them.

Heh. Last year I did the "bigger fan" thing and rooted for the Phillies. This year I let my butthurt rule me and have been marginally pulling for the Yankees. I just want to see heads asplode across the country.

You virtually give third base away to Damon?

2009-11-02 12:19:32 AM
How the hell do you allow anyone to steal two bases on a single play?

mjoven1975

Doesn't have quite the same visual impact as the Pujols image, but hot damn that was a spectacular choke.

/Bobby Valentine just went off on a rant on ESPN about not being able to throw a slider with a runner on third.

Pedro Feliz saw a hot chick on the third base rail and went to say hello, GOSH!

Mentat: How the hell do you allow anyone to steal two bases on a single play?

Apparently the bases don't go: 1st, 2nd, Home, as the Phillies mistakenly believed.

"Hey! Why is Damon running towards the stands? Does he want some peanuts? Wait, why is he stopping at that little white bag? Wait, we put Lidge in the game? Son of a biatch! Screw you guys, I'm dusting off my golf clubs."

Speaking of closers...

Jimmy Rollins on Mariano Rivera:
"We know what he's going to do. It's no surprise. But when you see him, you figure out how much his ball is moving. Once you find your approach, you've got to be stubborn with it, because he's going to be stubborn with what he's going to do to you. "

Since that quote, vs. Rivera:
2 broken bat, lazy pop ups.

I mean, fark, Feliz only hit the game-tying home run. That was probably the topic of the conversation with the pretty young lady.

I was really hoping I could find a shot showing A-Rod and Lidge, but I haven't found one yet. It's really hard to believe that the guy who was perfect in 2008 is the same guy who imploded at the end of his career in Houston and is imploding regularly this season.

Well, this nightmare series (for us Mets fans) is turning out the way I wanted it to so far. Temporarily rooting for the Yankees isn't as terrible as I thought it would be.

Can we note the excellent baserunning by Damon in the 9th? I mean, he would've scored anyway on that shot by The New Mr. Clutch, but that was as heads-up as it gets.

That was great. I started wondering if Damon had gone insane when he broke for third, but they the camera cut away and showed noone on the bag....

Great pharking job, phillies!

It was also because he was on 3rd that A-Rod got a fastball instead of a breaking ball.

When was the last time the Yankees made a significant, savvy managing move that did not involve being the highest bidder?

Yesssssssss...come to the dark side. Embrace it.

Indeed. Trading for Abreu wasn't bad either, even though the Yankees didn't win it all with him on the roster. Clemens for Wells worked out pretty well too

Marte has been god-awful ever since he joined the Yankees, though I'll agree that getting Swisher was a fine move.

It's pretty sad that you have to look to 3-4 years ago to find the Yankees last good moves (getting Abreu and Clemens) that weren't simply about outspending everyone else.

Yeah, what a crime that he'll get a ring after smacking the game-winning hit to put the Yankees one win away from the championship.

Those are just the ones that came off the top of my head. You asked for trades, you got 4 without really thinking.
