Where's the funny?

2009-11-02 03:38:17 AM
That. Was. Terrible.

2009-11-02 03:48:55 AM
The only thing remotely interesting or funny about that was that Debbie Reynolds is Carrie Fisher's mother. Other than that...MEH!

Any film can be improved by the addition of lightsabers.

I challenge anyone to dispute this.

Its_not_a_meme: That was terrible. Truly terrible. I couldn't even make it past the first minute.

The first minute was terrible. Skip to 1:25.

2009-11-02 07:32:33 AM
Even better if you skip to 2:53.

2009-11-02 07:38:35 AM
Wow. That was teh ghey.

2009-11-02 08:09:32 AM
I liked it. Thought it was pretty clever.

2009-11-02 08:26:02 AM
Not original
Not clever

I don't care because I LOL'd

Does that mean I have the mental acuity of a 30 year old with downs?

2009-11-02 08:27:59 AM
I'd rather watch George Lucas get neck liposuction.

2009-11-02 08:37:52 AM
Humor is funny. I thought it was funny, put people says that it wasn't. Then they says that the volkswagon one is funny, but I found no funny.

2009-11-02 09:35:04 AM
They should have made the cop at the end into Vader.

2009-11-02 09:35:53 AM
I want the videomaker, failmitter and greenlighter's head on a platter.

Yeah, the first minute was lame, but I thought the laser barrage at the end made up for it.

Here's a much better restored version of Singing in the Rain (new window), as restored by a certain bear from darkest Peru.

2009-11-02 11:02:17 AM
Would've been better if the cop at the end was breathing like Vader.

2009-11-02 11:34:15 AM
Where was the ring when the cabin exploded?

2009-11-02 11:37:09 AM
I was waiting for a gratuitous shot of Greedo. Instead all I got was TIE fighters.

What if George Lucas restored Singin' In The Rain?

He'd still be an asshole.

'Restore' the original star wars trilogy and release it as a .torrent, with a long sincere .txt apology for his previous alterations attached.

Then, maybe, he's on the road to redemption.

rekoil: Or if Volkswagen...

Awesome AND creepy.

Dicky B: A New Hope, the redo, added more lightsabers...

When?

2009-11-02 03:22:14 PM
I chuckled. Needed more dewbacks, IMO.

2009-11-02 04:14:32 PM
as long as he doesn't restore Howard the Duck

2009-11-02 05:14:13 PM
i think that clip was better than the output any farker in this thread has posted on youtube in the past 14 months.

DjangoStonereaver: Debbie Reynolds was teh hotness:

Yowza! What a cutie.

2009-11-02 05:38:57 PM
Now I found this funny. Maybe you guys thought it was lame because it is, but I found it funny because I could imagine Lucas laming it up even worse with his brand of "improvements".

+1

2009-11-02 05:59:40 PM
I skipped through it; there were some laughs.

Honest!

Lou Stoolz: Would've been better if the cop at the end was breathing like Vader.

I thought that too!

I came prepared to biatch this one out if it featured any light sabres. When has Lucas ever used light sabres outside of Star Wars?

If they had called this video "Singing in the rain with light sabres and other star wars-like effects" then I might have given a damn.

But I still probably wouldn't, because I don't like star wars.

2009-11-02 07:32:13 PM
That was awesome. Maybe it's because I'm in a slap happy mood, but that made me lol.

epoc_tnac: But I still probably wouldn't, because I don't like star wars.

Was "Jaws" ever your scene?

2009-11-02 08:31:48 PM
I feel bad all that work went into a humorless film.

2009-11-02 10:19:56 PM
epoc_tnac: ...I don't like star wars.

Does not compute. Seriously, how can you not like Star Wars?

Watchman: Was "Jaws" ever your scene?

When you say "Rolls," does he say "Royce?"

Could have been done better, with more subtle humor. Instead of using lasers, lightsabers, TIE fighters, and other Star Wars things, they should have "enhanced" Singin' In The Rain the same way Lucas "enhanced" Episode IV - VI.

Examples:

* Gene Kelly's dancing, and then a huge horse randomly walks in front of the scene, blocking him from view.

* The city is digitally populated with 75% more people in the background.

* The song "Make Em Laugh" is replaced by a completely different song, sung by a digitally-inserted Etta James and her band.

* Douglas Fowley is replaced in the role of Roscoe Dexter by a digitally-inserted Topher Grace.

* Birds of various sizes are digitally inserted flying around in various scenes, both in the foreground and background.

* Missing scenes from "The Dueling Cavalier" are re-inserted and digitally enhanced, removing wires used to make the actors fly around the stage, and placing the actors' faces over those of stunt doubles who ended up being visible on camera.

* Two CGI street waifs having a humorous slap-fight are digitally inserted in an early establishing shot.

* The sound of the rain is re-recorded to sound more realistic, in surround sound. Most other "big" sounds get the same treatment. The whole movie is upgraded to surround sound from the previous mono prints.

* A final scene is tacked on to the end, showing happy people cheering in various cities across America.
