Not one single movie does that.
But a series of movies would....

I would ignore them and walk away.

I don't need strangers coming up to me asking movie advice. Do I look like I farking work at blockbuster?

Why would you recommend a movie that, I believe, 0 American characters in it and isn't even set in America?

I love it. It's just rare to have TF thread greened, and I think this is my first. Thankfully I'm not the guy who got caught in the chair. Cheers to you, sir!

woodstock: Not one single movie does that.

A combination of these two

This would be a really silly question to ask. I suspect submitter just wants a 'hurr Americans are fat and stupid' thread or something.

It depends..movies from different times obviously represent the times in which they're set so ya know..do they want to see Americans of the 80s? or now?

I do find Americans certainly seem to love horror/gore for whatever reason. I dig 'em but more for the suspense they can have.

It's just Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Indiana Jones and the [...] were all sequels to Raiders.

Feels like this kind of thread would normally have a few hundred posts from TFD before being greened.

But hey, I'm not complaining.

Raiders is a damn good choice, but I'm going to go with Jurassic Park.

What do you mean? I'm pretty tall so most thing don't go over my head. I just don't understand why you recommend that movie when the headline *clearly* states it should be about America.

shawshank redemption
the usual suspects
the godfather

some of the best movies of all time, imho

For my entire life I've only known the movie as Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark. Wiki says both are good. Is this like people who now call the first Star Trek move "A New Hope", a name no one had every hurt until 1999?

2009-10-31 09:19:18 PM
Spaceballs. It has sci-fi, comedy and a ton of pop culture references. Plus, every time I watch Independence Day, all I can see is Bill Pullman in a Winnebago.

I think you may be on to something with that suggestion. It shows a wide range of types of Americans, good, bad, indifferent. It shows that someone can become successful even if dealt a bad hand by fate.

... I did not know that.

Learn something new every day. Or sometimes two things a day, like how a group of hedgehogs is called a 'prickle'.
