At least the Torso Killer had somebody cool like Eliot Ness to track him down.

All we got is Frank Jackson.

Subby had me fall'in down and crying a river of tears with that headline.

/I appraise in the city and always wonder what I am going to find in some of the vacant houses. Shudders.

Delirious is one of the most underrated movies ever. Can one of the Fark P.I. club members dredge up a picture of this guy? I profile serial killers and just want to see if my hunches were right.

Oh I dunno, the whole West Coast has to be up there - think Washington State particularly. Oh ya, and in Canada too. Same coast, same problem.

Jack Gable: What are you doing here? I sent you to Cleveland.
Jack Gates: I should kill you for that alone.

GREAT movie.

The bodies could have been there for weeks, if not months or years.

seems like there'd be a slight difference in the state of decomposition of the bodies between weeks and years.

As a registered sex offender, Sowell had to check in with the county sheriff every 90 days. He last did that on Sept. 2.

So how exactly does the sex offender registry prevent sex crimes again? Between this guy and Phillip Garrido, it's starting to look about like as much of a useless charade as airport security. Especially given that according to TFA, the guy didn't leave town while on the lam because "he doesn't drive". I don't drive either, but at least I can figure out how to get to the Greyhound station if I have to.

Wow, did pretty good. If any of you have seen the First 48 episode with the guy that was killing hookers and calling about it, that was pretty much the same profile as I worked up on this guy, and it seems just about spot on.

much to the chagrin of the residents still alive there

Chagrin
: noun disquietude or distress of mind caused by humiliation, disappointment, or failure

Well, there's "disappointment", so I guess it's appropriate.
But I gotta ask, has anyone EVER heard, let alone used it, outside of "much to the/my ... (of)..."?? I mean, nobody ever says "much to my anger/happiness". I've heard "much to my dismay" though. Odd idiosyncratic context requirement, and consequently nobody actually knows exactly what the word chagrin means. Personally, I'm on a mission to use word or word forms which are largely obsolete or archaic except for a single idiosyncratic application (we all talk about illicit affairs, but when's the last time someone referred to having a "licit affair"?)

I'm not even sure how to use "chagrin" outside of "much to my". There is a transitive verb form, and inflected forms "chagrined" and "chagrining". This would be tricky to slip into conversation. I must plan carefully.

The west coast has enough serial killers that the LA police arrested one and, after interrogating him, found out they had the wrong guy. The one they caught was a serial killer, just not the one they thought he was.

Needless to say, I was chagrined to find that I am the only American still schooled in the use of such a wonderfully desciptive word.

Also Chagrin River, Chagrin valley, Chagrin Rd. ( which turns into Kinsman Rd in the city of Cleveland, and is the street the home is on if I remember correctly. or at least near it).
