Good news, for the DNC.

2009-10-31 02:32:13 PM
Good, maybe the people of this state will finally run his ass out on a rail...

He's gonna have to learn not to do that. Take away his chair.

Not a chance, Dems lose him and he swings to caucus with the GOP, they lose the 60 vote super-majority. He holds the cards.

No they don't. With Ted Kennedy's seat and Al Franken now in, they have 61. Liebermann is no big loss.

2009-10-31 02:51:53 PM
Lieberman is an independent who caucuses with the Democrats.

Not any more he doesn't.

What good is he doing now?

And they've used this 60 vote super-majority exactly how many times?

Joe is not going to go the dem's way. Take his seat away.

2009-10-31 02:53:10 PM
Hell, Olympia Snowe is a better Democrat than Liebermann has been. There's your 60th vote right there.

It's approaching absolute zero. And that was my point, there are still too many "blue dog" democrats to ever use a supposed 60 vote super-majority to override a republican filibuster. Won't happen, cut Lieberman loose. Let him have fun in the minority.

Fu*k Lieberman.

The Dems 60 seat majority only works on paper anyway, like Communism. Or Penthouse Forum.

Yeah, cause they seem to be using that 60-vote super-majority so much.

Kick him out and let the GOP deal with the attention whore.

2009-10-31 03:44:37 PM
Joe must have pictures of somebody with a goat and/or a small boy, I can't see any other reason they keep him.

THIS.

i think he'll find that the GOP is far less tolerant than the dems.

At least he's finally being honest about it.
Maybe the next Independent will be, you know, independent.

2009-10-31 04:18:34 PM
Looks like Joe finally realized that there's no way he'd survive another election as an independent. Can't say he went with a winning side, though.

I'm holding out some hope that this was him preempting an announcement next week.

Though the cynic in me says that he wants another shot at the oval office.

No you're wrong. With Franken, Spectre, and the new guy in Mass, they are back to 60. But knbber2 is also wrong, in that the 60 vote supermajority is only as good as the 60th vote that they aren't getting anyway. Why reward assholery like this.

Just last time, ya know, before Franken was finally permitted to serve giving the dems a full 60

Don't be so hard on Joe. He just wants to get in good with the majority party.

This will be his last term in office.

2009-10-31 04:43:46 PM
The Dems try to push him around. Threatening him like a bunch of Chicago politicians.
Old Joe don't play those games.

PALIN/LIEBERMAN 2012

2009-10-31 04:50:39 PM
Hick: Old Joe don't play those games.

Actually, I'd say he's playing the game rather well.
If you're set to lose anyway, might as well go out in a blaze of self-indulgent glory and get as much limelight as you can.

It's paving the way for a solid round on the lecture circuit. Y'know, like what Palin tried to do until they realized she had zilch for brains. Leiberman likely could give a good speech if there's 5-6 figures on the line.

2009-10-31 04:53:43 PM
Why the Democrats have put up with that weasel for this long is beyond me; he should have been kicked to the curb after he joined the 'Losers for Loserman' party. About the only reason I can fathom that Loserman has kept his job is Loserman has some serious dirt on some of the major players in the Democratic Party.

2009-10-31 04:53:59 PM
This is the same Joe LIEberman that 15 years ago as a freshman Senator was on record as wanting to do away with the filibuster, calling it a waste of time, giving too much power to one person on the floor, etc. Traitor Joe is now saying he would join a Republic party filibuster.

The fact that his state is the insurance capitol of the U.S. has nothing to do with this, I'm sure. Too bad the Senate is stuck with him until 2012, when he'll lose his re-election bid to a Democratic candidate and wind up as the next lobbyist for CIGNA, AETNA, et al.

I say hamstring him now. Let the Greedy Oilman's Party take this attention whore.

2009-10-31 04:56:24 PM
He seems to be destroy caucus "unit cohesion" by his antics.

What - where have I heard that before. Oh yeah - DADT.

You mean... Hick has experienced the secret handshake that is required for all GOP congressmen from Old Joe himself?

you shot her down to the ground. Yeah!

He won as an independent. How many other people could do that?
I don't see his political future in jeopardy.

Someone who has a well entrenched fund raising apparatus?

Higher end donations see him as a chairman of a senate committee, not just a senator.

He loses that, and he's done.

2009-10-31 05:13:27 PM
If I was a Republican running for Congress, I really wouldn't want Loserman to campaign for me as Loserman is now so toxic I couldn't see how he would help more than hurt my chances. The only ones I now see supporting Loserman are the idiots who love anything that is seen as annoying to Democrats; people who would never vote Democratic.

Someone who the Republican Party realizes they're better off electing than their own man?
Or were you looking for "Bernie Sanders"?

Is Joe Lieberman high? It's the only way I can explain these stunts he's been pulling for the past few days.

How does he think he is going to get reelected in 2012 when the Dems will pour every dollar into his state to beat him in the primaries and his constituents will be looking to string him up on the gallows given that they are almost 2 to 1 in favor of the public option?

They don't, and never did, have the 60 vote super majority in anything except name only.
