All those anecdotes and yet there is no historical evidence whatsoever on paper, film or videotape to corroborate them. Nothing. Nada. Zip. No one able to dispute facts of the POW/MIA myth--MIA families' hopes and feelings are cruelly exploited by right wing and, after millions of dollars are spent, no evidence of any American soldier left behind is ever found. Scapegoating myths remain fact free fairy tales of blame despite all wishful thinking otherwise. Completely undocumented is still completely undocumented.

The UN is perhaps one of the greatist creations of the modern world. It is truly an example of civil nations trying to work things out together. There are always many viewpoints on any given situation and I like to think that what the majority feels right, its the best we have. The majority of this world finds this war to be unjustified. Your right, Saddam is a heritic, but I would suggest the primary motivation fo that war was the price cut initiated by Kuwait which hurt Iraqs oil sales greatly. Im no fan of Saddam but I find that Bush's christian fundamentalism much more disturbing. Find the video "The Hidden wars of Desert Storm". Its a great watch.

Iraq asked the US if they had a problem with the invasion of Kuwait, and the US basically said "don't put us in the middle" and then Saudi Arabia and everyone got really nervous (shar'ia law nations) that Saddam would burn their oil fields if they didn't capitulate to him, and got us to denounce the invasion of Kuwait?

The west made all of these backwoods hicks into Sheiks, and they thought we owed them.

Any thoughts/facts on that? That one has always intrigued me. But I am 25% French, so I am suspect to being gullible to stupid conspiracy theories.

That may have been the motivation for SH invading Kuwait (19th Iraqi province and all that, also). But, the motivation for the US-led UN response was based on humanitarian interests and, yes, Iraq's effect on global oil sales.
