And, STFU, the Clash is the only band that matters. London Calling was the album of the decade. And mentioning the Clash in the same sentence as nickleback and oasis is disgusting. Sheesh, kids today.

I think that "london calling" is one of those good/great double records that could've been a freakin' awesome single record.

like someone else said, they're good and all, but I never really seemed to care about The Clash. and that may be due more to the fanboys-and-girls than anything else.

maybe a special-deluxe re-re-mastered 32nd anniversary limited edition CD/Blu-Ray/8 Track box set would pique my interest, though.

Here is what I have to say about The CLASH:

The Clash were a good band.
Very good band. That is all.

Here is the problem though,
they suffer from what I call "The Doors Syndrome" or the "Jim Morrison Syndrome"
This is my theory that some bands that are really good at their core are made to look phony and way over pretentious because of too many over zealous fans who way over inflate the Hell out of them.

The Doors were a really good band but all the way over the top relevance assigned to Jim Morrison as a "profound poet" and "rock and roll shaman" and "guru" ....etc...etc...makes him/them look stupid and contrived.
Morrison was a weeny exposing babbling drunkard who just so happened to be a pretty good singer in an above average American band from the 60s. No more. No less. Look at it that way and I can really enjoy and appreciate them so much more.
"The Soft Parade" was a real gem.

Same with The Clash.
Remove all the idiotic political rhetoric from their fans and just regard them as a very good "punk" band that did some unique experimenting and made good records and that is enough. They were a good band--NOT a political movement.

Stop judging bands because of dumb fans.

While I am a big Clash fan, and London Calling is among my favorite albums, they just hit their fans up for the 2 disc 25th anniversary with the usual threat "This is everything we got. This is the last re-issue you'll ever need".

Now, it's five years later, and they're ready for you to buy the album again. Record companies. Gotta love them.

Does "deluxe" mean they'll hit it with a heavy dose of Autotune?

As much as I really dig The Clash, I think Joe Strummer's work with The Mescaleros was even more outstanding. "Global A-Go-Go" is a favorite album of mine.

What makes them legendary is that you can't pick out which songs are Punk and which are New Wave - but you can ALWAYS tell if it's The Clash or not.

I had my copy of London Calling stolen by some asshat, so I'm really getting a kick out of the news of this re-release.
