Benjamin - If you're close you should go! I would love to shake your hand back. It'll be so much fun to actually meet you assholes in person. ;-)

Then maybe our flame wars will be more mellow. Muhah.

I was the unidentified stranger from Marietta.... I went ahead and got myself an account.... WooHoo!
I figured I probably have a few things to say about what I read here, occasionally. *smiles*

9 hours in a car is too far, but if any farkers are ever in tallahassee, I'm always game for beer....

You're in Tally, Fubar?? I went to FSU!
You *have* to come now! hehe

There seems to be enough interest in a St. Louis party to make it happen. Anybody have any suggestions for stuff to do? I am never getting in that damn Arch again.

2001-09-18 05:30:16 PM
Make it some time that Six Flags St Louis is open. :)

SFSL? I went down there to work for a week this summer (we contract out virtual reality stuff to theme parks), and only got a few hours to do the rides. Mr. Freeze is fun, it's a linear induction coaster, with some loops and stuff. The Boss is the best wood coaster that I've been on (out of maybe 5 or 6 others, I've never hit the east coast, so don't get all "The Beast rulez" on me). They have a Batman, which turns right at the top of the lift. The other one that I rode in Illinois turns left.
Review wrap up: If you only want coasters, it probably isn't worth your time. Screamin' Eagle and Ninja just plain blow, but Boss is great, and Mr. Freeze is a long wait for a very short (if cool) ride.

The park is open until the weekend before Halloween for Fright Fest, weekends only (possibly Friday nights).

Freeze will be better once they swap out the headbangers for lapbars. (Next year?)

I just checked ticket prices to fly from Champaign, IL to Lexington, KY after my tests (friday): $884.50. *gulp*

My aviation major roommate is quoting me prices to fly me to KY himself. I doubt it will be cheap enough to do, even if two of us (statusquo or Welstradamus) split it. Damn.

Mike: Do you know if any Deja Vus opened this season? When I left my "home park" (Six Flags Great America a.k.a. Chicago) I heard that none of them were operating yet. The one that we had didn't even have a train on the tarck, and we only saw a few people working on it instead of the huge crew that was there earlier in the season. I guess we got lucky, Vertical Velocity opened on time and saved our revenue, and people that worked in the park got to test ride before it was open to the public! w00t!

Can't we all just meet-in-San-Francisco-for-a-big-Farkin'-
party-and-we-can-call-it-"Burning-Fark" along?

I'm with Rodney King. San Fran's alot closer for me than the East Coast. But, I would come if you weren't on the other side of the US from me. Happy Birthday, Sgamer.

Quit your whining. I live in Seattle and I'M going. WAAAAAAAAAH. :-)

The Georgia and Magic Mountain Deja Vu's are open, Great America's is still testing. There was some kind of design issue with all three of them that Vekoma had to fix.

(Vekoma is in Chapter 11 because Six Flags hasn't paid for the Deja Vu's, X-Flight, or Batwing. Whoops.)

Hopefully the rumors of a Vertical Velocity in Louisville next year are true.

V^2 is a fun one. Ours (not sure about any others) had a lake underneath, so from the front you stare straight down into the drink after to brakes grab you on the second trip up.

HPZ thinks I'm h4rdc0r3!

*happy dance*

I'm rumored to be attending an Orioles game on Friday to say farewell to Cal. However, if that doesn't pan out, I may just hit the road for the nine hour drive on Thursday and come home Saturday. So save me room on a floor somewhere!

Cyberpunk--

"Not far" is a relative term... I just made the drive from Chicago down to KY to visit my folks this past weekend. And even at 7.5 hours, it wasn't so bad.

Lexington should only take me 5.5 or 6 hours or so.

Unfortunately I have some prior "geek stuff" scheduled for this coming weekend, so it's just not going to happen this time.

I can make it to the next one. Maybe even swing through IL, Champaign, etc. and pick up some other farkers.

But without being able to tell Cyberpunk to his face that he's a big liberal puss-bag, it just loses a bit of the lustre... heh.

Drbarts:

If Adelaide is in between Louisville and Lexington, Kentucky we can prolly get ya.

2001-09-19 03:38:14 PM
May show up Thursday or Friday. May also go to Gauley Fest in WV this weekend, or perhaps the Terrapin Hill festival in Harrodsburg, KY. Bluegrass music, weeeeeeeeeeeeeee (y'all).

Triplenine:

Hard core Denver townie here. I put it up once, and will again. My Apt. complex has a pool/hot tub and grills. I have a Sam's and Costco card and am willing to buy the burgers and brats. For any middler Farker in the area willing to drive. We party hard time here. No beddy bye for us until, like 9. Woohoo!

Will there be sex?

For me?

With another person?

Female?

Non-inflatable?

God damnit Drew, POST MORE NEWS!

This catastrophe has made me a CNN news junkie, but now that the stream of news is finally drying, I must find other means of learning whats going on every second around the globe... I CAN'T WAIT TILL LATER, I MUST HAVE MORE INFORMATION! FEED ME KNOWLEDGE!

I don't want the ride to end...

I'll go seek solace in Mountain Dew... sweet, sweet Dew...

2001-09-20 02:27:06 AM
Dudes and dudettes... have a jolly time at the party! And if you all want to see some good rock music... mosey (sp?) on down to Huntington, WV on Saturday for some kick-ass rock and roll (Nickelback, Rollins, Supafuzz, etc.) I will be there! Oh yeah, I will be quite drunk...muhaha!!!

2001-09-20 02:33:37 AM
Pretty sure there'll be some Fark folks headed to catch at least Rollins and Supafuzz... unless they're too hung over from Friday night to drive...

2001-09-20 04:16:40 AM
I've updated my site to show where things are meeting up thursday night, as well as a change to the people coming (small deletion).
Willis and I will be arriving Friday afternoon, instead of the expected Thursday night.

Well, if anyone wants to organise an Australian Farkers party type thing.. I'm in... that is if there is enough of us to make one. How many people constitutes a party anyway?

2001-09-20 04:47:17 AM
Everybody have fun. For obvious reasons I can't come (not sure I would be allowed in either). Next party somewhere in Western Europe?

once again i offer to get drunk and have sex all weekend with my bf to celebrate your birthday sgamer.

why not organise an Aus fark party some time... my birthday is in Feb, why not coordinate it with the other fark party?

2001-09-20 05:37:49 AM
is anyone bringing a tiger, and perhaps some chicken wire, i want to test that whole theory and see what the eventual autopsys say.

2001-09-20 05:47:39 AM
Not that it matters, but I will NOT be attending. I have to work Thurs and Friday nights (6-6) (damn the man...damn him to hell, and fark him in the ear) But maybe the next one. Madison to Kentucky isn't that bad....we did it once in PLS's for the army governed at 55 MPH in vary uncomfortable seats...in a car a 75+ would be easy as hell

Not the man....but the real legend lives on

2001-09-20 06:39:49 AM
Bumjube: now you KNOW I will be there for the aussie one!! woooohooooooo beetchs on the loose.

2001-09-20 07:07:53 AM
Damn, an Aussie fark would be out of the question for me, since I'm a PERTHIE and I bet all of you are on the other side of the damn country. Am I right?

*sigh* me and Fark parties are obviously NOT meant to be.

2001-09-20 07:13:20 AM
I am going to go nuts if I don't farkin meet another farker that lives in New Jersey. makes no sense

Where's Docwa, Xander etc?

Where's that map of farkers that got done a while back?

2001-09-20 08:40:11 AM
Drew, any chance of pasting up a UK/europe forum/page/board so that us on the other side of the pond can try and sort out a drink up?

2001-09-20 08:41:57 AM
I wish it weren't over 600 miles away... otherwise I would drive there...

What about a DC, Philly, NYC or Baltimore location next time? I will go anywhere within ~4 hour drive of Philly.

I really wanted to go to the Cleveland one, but had scheduling conflicts. KY is just too damn far and I can't find a decent flight...

2001-09-20 08:51:31 AM

2001-09-20 09:04:39 AM
We've had requests for more news, but there doesn't happen to be much right now. We'll post what we can get

How long are you all going to be at TGIFridays tomorrow night? I'm leaving for Lex straight from work and it's supposed to take... holy shiat... never mind... I was wrong. I thought it was 6 hours. It says 8.5, now. Crap in a hat. I guess it's straight to the Vu.

2001-09-20 01:28:31 PM
Yeah, hey, what if I were to show up earlier than planned? My car buddy had a minor change in plans. Where you folks at?
