Fark Sonic. Every time I go there they INSIST on slapping a glob of mayo on my food.

2009-10-30 12:10:20 PM
In-N-Out? Fatburger? Hell, even Steak N' Shake?

2009-10-30 12:10:21 PM
I dunno about their burgers but their ice is the best on the planet.

Sonic's burgers are okay, but...img1.fark.net

In'N'Out (burgers are amazing but fries are meh)
Whataburger
Burgerville
Haven't tried Five Guys but I hear they're excellent too.

That said, Sonic's drink selection is fantastic.

Nooooooooooooooooooooo!!!???!!!
That's it, I'm off to the Blarney Stone for a beer and greasy burger.

2009-10-30 12:39:54 PM
Wrong!

In-n-Out is the best when it comes to fast food chains.

Another great cheeseburger:

The Buger Bar at Mandalay Bay. You get to choose what kind of beef you want, I went with the corn-fed beef from Yakima, WA.

*Drool*

Really? I don't like Sonic burgers. I was all sorts of excited when one FINALLY came to NJ. Then I had a burger and it was awful. Too much salt & I didn't like the bun.

I'll stick w/Wendy's, thanks.

/Although I haven't had a 5 Guys burger, only their hot dogs.

2009-10-30 12:45:02 PM
The regular 5 Guys burger is just too much. Their burger and fries is meal for two people, except the double patty throws off the meat/bun ratio.

Friend of mine who's a poker pro regularly eats the $65 Kobe burgers from there. Says they're well worth it.

I had a couple Hardee's Thickburgers on my way to NC and back this summer. The first one was great, one of the best drive-through burgers I've eaten. The second one was OK, but lacked the magic of the first one.

Orange. Cream. Slush.

That is all.

EvilEgg: The regular 5 Guys burger is just too much. Their burger and fries is meal for two people, except the double patty throws off the meat/bun ratio.

You can get them with one patty. I get the Little Bacon Cheeseburger and my husband gets the Bacon Cheeseburger, and we split the fries.

/Also, why is it a bonus that they beat out Five Guys?

2009-10-30 01:34:11 PM
I'm absolutely astonished that the five people meeting to celebrate the opening this month of the only Sonic in Massachusetts chose its cheeseburger as the best.

They're not even really executives. One is an "Executive Assistant" at a real company. One is an Assistant Manager at a local bank. Three are marketing guys from tiny agencies.

I wonder if they had all five burgers from local locations or if some had been mailed in. Sounds like a fair competition to me.

2009-10-30 01:38:36 PM
1) shiatty taste test/poll.
2) I'm guessing they liked it because if the drive-in, pseudo-50's kitsch, not because they actually taste better.

2009-10-30 01:39:11 PM
I love Sonic. We go there several times a week.

But it is NOT for the burgers, or even the food in general.

Diet Coke with Lime with extra ice.
Diet Cherry Limeade with extra ice.
Coke with extra ice.

The slush selection is fantastic.

Sonic's burgers are suitable for making a turd when you are hungry and don't want to go elsewhere. They are not 'the best' by any stretch.

2009-10-30 01:39:45 PM
Ugh, no sonic with me. Once I was out with a couple of friends, and one of them insisted we swing into sonic for a chili dog.

That chili dog smelled so bad we had to roll down the cars windows while the fool giggled and slurped it down in the back seat.

It smelled like old beans and body odor. (barf)

2009-10-30 01:40:18 PM
Five Guys kinds depends on which one you go to. You go to one of the original ones (fairfax, woodbridge, etc.), they're pretty badass (or used to be, I haven't been in a few years). Any of the franchised stores are "pretty good". Better than most major fast food joints, but I wouldn't call 'em the best

2009-10-30 01:40:21 PM
FTFA: McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's, 5 Guys Burgers and Fries and Sonic Drive In.

Seriously, the survey is missing some pretty good burger joints.

If you ever in Southern CA while In-N-Out is pretty good I'd make the stop to get a Tommy's original

How? Sonic farking sucks.

Fails w/o Whataburger.

Ever been to Checkers/Rally's? I'm surprised they don't give you a straw for all the mayo on their burgers.

Sonic beat 5 guys? Highly unlikely. I like Sonic, but 5 guys beats them hands down.

2009-10-30 01:46:25 PM
They should have tried Whataburger.

2009-10-30 01:48:13 PM
Votes have been tallied andexecutives overwhelmingly prefer a Sonic Drive In cheeseburger over any other fast-food chain's cheeseburger. In a first-ever survey of fast-food burgers among executives, Exec Digital magazine asked a room full of executives to rate cheeseburgers from five national fast-food joints, including McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's, 5 Guys Burgers and Fries and Sonic Drive In.

Yeah right, sure!

2009-10-30 01:48:36 PM
Sonic burgers the best? I'll admit the patty is only mediocre but the buns are what propel their burgers into sheer awfulness.

Darkace911: Sonic beat 5 guys? Highly unlikely. I like Sonic, but 5 guys beats them hands down.

THIS as well. 5 Guys is also the only place I have been that gives you the option of pickled or fresh jalapenos on a burger.

Also, Fatburger destroys Sonic.

2009-10-30 01:50:21 PM
Sonic's regular burgers are nothing special, the Chicken Club Toaster on the other hand is a mouthgasm.

Hell yes. Tommy's makes a tremendous burger.

I cast my vote for Burgerville's burgers, as it is the best burger *I've* tasted. However, I don't have an opinion if it's the best burger ever... I'm reserving that judgement for the day I try a Juicy Lucy - I've always wanted to try one...

Steak & Shake's Chipotle Shooters are pretty damn good though, but I hate their tiny french fries... And, a BK Stacker is a pretty good contender, although not as great as the others.

Damn, I just had a bowl of clam chowder for lunch, and now I'm hungry again. DAMN YOU INTERNET!

2009-10-30 01:52:17 PM
So they asked a room full of executives what burgers they prefer and they picked sonic. I'm going to go out on a limb here and just guess that these execs don't eat cheeseburgers. They probably picked sonic becuse of the name I doubt they've ever been to most of these places.

2009-10-30 01:52:39 PM
Wow, that was a useless poll.

I guess submitter got caught between 'cheeseburger' and 'cheezburger'.

I'll have to check out Five Guys. There are a couple not too far from me.

I'll take Ray's Hell Burger any day.

I don't know about best burger, but they definitely have the best drinks.

2009-10-30 01:59:21 PM
Five Guy's burgers are pretty damn tasty, the fries, too many even for two people I usually find. More importantly, any/all the food from there is the equivalent of nuking my intestines from orbit. Without fail, I will be paying for it shortly afterwards in the bathroom, which I'll probably have to run to.

/more like walk very quickly
//can't allow any leakage
///damn, i hate IBS

2009-10-30 01:59:46 PM
I've had both Sonic and Five Guys and the Five guys is better...In and Out is too 'local' to be considered...

2009-10-30 02:01:03 PM
These are probably the same group of people who say Pizza Hut has the best pizza. It's a group of stuffed shirts that don't eat fast food, ever. Sonic most likely won because their burger was the biggest.

In N Out for the win.

Do the carhops get ice-skates in February?

2009-10-30 02:03:55 PM
I will say, for the category of "this is a shiatty cheap fast food burger", I think I do like Sonic's the best. It's not a good burger in the high-end sense, but for what it is, it is marvelous.

2009-10-30 02:05:27 PM

Your poker pro friend is bullshiatting you. The Kobe burger is $15 there (Toppings extra).

I don't understand what is so great about Kobe burgers. Isn't the whole draw of Kobe beef the marbling and the tenderness? With a ground meat you can add as much fat as you like and the grinding takes care of any long muscle fibers.

Too local? Let's be honest. The world pretty much ends when you leave California. Do they even have restaurants in other parts of the country?

Protip: it's not real Kobe
Bonus Protip: Never buy pre-ground peaberry coffee

The side order of blowjob is what brings the total bill up. It crazy too since that's all markup for the casino and where they really make their money.
