I can't decide if I find that 4/4 reference clever or insulting.

Either way, it sucks he's gone.

Good question. Clearly not a Southerner. We use them as a utensil.

Ordell: I can't decide if I find that 4/4 reference clever or insulting.

I'll go with clever.

I saw the dude play once with DOA way back in the last century. I can't say he particularly stood out, but that era DOA was some of the most exciting music I've ever experienced.

And he wasn't just a drummer, he was also a Professor of cerealogy at G. Mills university (new window)

Check out some videos of this guy. He hits the skins like they owe him money. Especially in Black Flag and Circle Jerks. Just a powerhouse.

if you click over to the Blabbermouth post the article references...

****UPDATE: Rumors are beginning to swirl that this story is some kind of elaborate hoax involving a Facebook page and several months' worth of correspondence from someone claiming to be Chuck. We are looking into it.****

I'll throw on some Danzig tonight in his honor.
Probably the first one, but maybe IV if I'm feeling saucy.

Wonder what Rollins has to say.

what happens to all his gravy?

2009-10-29 04:39:02 PM
Was he a chain smoker, anyone know? 44 sounds pretty young to die from cigarettes. I was hoping I could get away with a few more years of pollution before putting them down. RIP Mr. Biscuits

I'm a little confused over Danzig, Black Flag, DOA and Social D being labeled "Hardcore".

Except for the part where he's full of shiat. But oh no! Splitting hairs over genres is a pointless exercise.

Sorry I think hardcore sucks, I guess I offended some people (welcome to Fark). Let's take the simplicity of Punk, the heaviness of Metal, and drop all redeeming qualities.

Never listened much to any of the bands the guys was in, I was into Dead Kennedy's and Bad Religion back in the day.

2009-10-29 05:11:44 PM
No, really. Someone help me out here. How are those bands in the 'hardcore' genre'? I thought that was Angry Samoans, Husker Du, Bad Brains, Suicidal Tendencies and then a score of big bald guys covered in tats and wearing folded baseball caps? I mean MAAYbe DOA but ...

Unless you copy it from an Onion article...

/Haven't seen the "Cereaology" video since 1999. Still one of the funniest things ever.

Yeah, because coming into a death-notice thread and pinching one off to show disdain for an entire genre of music and a man's life will always be received with a turn of the cheek.

Your post was non-sequitur.

You even state you don't know this guy, yet felt the need to comment.

You are, simply, a douchebag.

but, yeah -- welcome to fark.

Kliffoth is doing a fantastic job of trolling in this thread, so I gotta say He WINS.

Didn't mention this guy in my Boobies did I? I was addressing Hardcore.

This is par for the FARK course ye of the weeping vaginas.

nope, i don't like danzig (but I do like all samhain albums but the one this guy played on) or generally think this guy was an amazing drummer.

And pissing in a thread is not "snark" -- you came in here to destroy the thread with no knowledge of this guy.

Again, you are the definition of a douchebag.

Here's the thing tho Kliffoth, The Dead Kennedys and Bad Religion are widely considered to be hardcore bands. It may be that that you're confusing hardcore (punk) with that gawdawful skronky, fidgety, screamy (and not in a good way) shiat that the kids call hardcore these days. If that's the case, then I agree with you, it sucks. I, however, don't consider this to be "hardcore", nor should anyone who listens to the bands you mentioned. IMO, "hardcore" was hardcore punk. Stripped down, fast, angry, probably political, probably American, punk circa 1978/79 to about 1983/84. E.g.: Minor Threat, D.O.A., Bad Brains, Agnostic Front, etc...

Oh, and R.I.P. Chuck

Yo, Kliffoth, et al., I'm very happy for your flame war, an' I'mma let you finish, but to die at 44 from throat cancer, Chuck Biscuits must have been the biggest chain smoker OF ALL TIME.

I have NEVER heard Bad Religion or Dead Kennedy's referred to as 'hardcore' ever, ever. In fact I never heard Black Flag, DOA, or Circle Jerks referred to as Hardcore. So if they're Hardcore now than who IS punk?

Genuine question, I'm not saying you're wrong.

Don't try to tell me what my intentions were because you don't know shiat. I came here to rip on Hardcore, not this drummer guy, not subby's mom... just Hardcore. Just one (albeit assholish) comment.

Change your tampon, there's a puddle collecting.

I wasn't even trying to troll. I really don't see why people do troll now that I realize how mind-numbingly easy it is.

DOA put out an album called "Hardcore '81" for chrissakes.

And yes, all those bands are considered "hardcore", then and in 2009.

Punk is reserved usually to more rock oriented bands. Slower pace, often poppier, different crowd.

2009-10-29 06:57:13 PM
I remember when a friend first introduced me to Danzig's music. What jumped out at me (besides him being the Evil Elvis(TM)) was the drumming. Chuck had a Bohnam-esque way of attacking the skins, and really gave a great groove to the first 4 Danzig albums.

My girlfriend at the time was actually corresponding with him while he was on tour for the first 2 Danzig tours. He was a very cool dude and a kickass drummer.

2009-10-29 06:58:43 PM
Let's all go and put on "Danzig II: Lucifuge"

Great record, but the first Danzig record owns.

2009-10-29 07:00:17 PM
Again... I've never heard of DK and BR referred to as Hardcore, by Punk or Hardcore fans, and I've known quite a few. I'm not saying you all are wrong (I doubt you are) but again I wonder... who then is JUST Punk?

The Ramones?
Sex Pistols?

2009-10-29 07:03:27 PM
Chuck Biscuits, the Neil Peart of his genre. Just look (and listen) at the resume.

Not because of his style or anything, but because of how fans respected him. So, this sucks.

oh, and add "whiner" to your list of traits.

Wow, so an obsessed metal nerd has limited knowledge of other genres of music, yet has no problem taking a huge shiat in threads where other genres of music are discussed. I must say I am shocked. SHOCKED.
