Yipee! Consumers should know that they can buy their own caskets rather than the overpriced tin boxes funeral directors sell.

'Ode on a Grecian Urn' by Keats

Thou foster-child of silence and slow time

etc.

About a hundred drachmas a day.

/Knows you were really dying to ask, "What's a Grecian urn?"

Considering it's walmart, they're going to need an extended line of plus sizes..

They start at $999. That is still way overpriced. I bought the cheapest one (metal, lined) from a factory for $360. Shipping was about another $75.

Hey, I have more. When Keats was asked, "What's Ode on a Grecian urn?" he replied, "About a hundred drachmas."

I got a million of 'em.

No, but if you hum a few bars I can fake it.

Wait... I think I missed a turn there somewhere...

What, no free ship to store? That figures, they always get you with the shipping. Can you imagine it showing up at someone's house?

Wife yelling: "Honey, did you order a casket?"

Hubby: "Um, what's that dear?"

Wife: "Quit digging that stupid hole in the back yard and come here for a minute."

Still way, way too expensive. Ike was buried in an $80 Government Issue pine casket, about $450 now.

Even that much seems excessive to me. Dump me naked into a hole in the ground, no embalming or whatnot, and no concrete crypt or shiat like that. I'm dead, I don't care.

\Also, feel free to do it in the woods somewhere under cover of night to avoid the cost of a plot.

Is there any American small business these Chicom enabling whores are not out to destroy?

And if you people think their prices will remain low once they have eliminated the competition, think again.

The Waltons should be burned alive in the streets.

Why Wouldn't they. they open up life insurance policies on their employees and collect the payoff when the employee dies.

walmart employee's are worth more dead to walmart than alive.

there called "dead peasant" policies.

many other companies do it too. AT&T, shiattiBank, among others

google if you don't believe.

isn't America great!

Linux_Yes: Dead Peasant's Insurance

Wal-Mart has taken out life insurance policies, known as "dead peasants" , on low-wage hourly employees that pay benefits to the company when the workers die. On top of that - before Congress began cracking down on the practice in 1996 - companies were able to take out loans against the value of these policies and enjoy a tax write-off on the interest payments.

there are many many other american companies that do the same thing in the crony capitalist shhittthole called america.

Link (new window)

in Walmart's case, this makes their employee's worth more dead than alive.

Burned in the streets? I guess they're going with the urn instead of the casket.

Unfortunately same states have laws about that. One thing I like about Judaism is the belief of burying you simply and quickly. In the ground within 48 hours, no embalming, no fancy clothes, and a pine box.

Thing is, their prices aren't terribly low now. By keeping an eye on weekly ads, buying stuff when it's on sale, and taking advantage of double coupons, I spend less money shopping at Kroger than I would if I shopped at Wal-Mart. And there is a noticeable difference between the sort of people Kroger employs and the sort of people Wal-Mart employs.

But yes, the Waltons should be burned alive in the streets.

you moron the funeral business is the biggest scam out there
it is run mainly by large corporations (like SCI) the markups on caskets and so forth is appalling. my dad used to run a discount casket store that undercut funeral homes by 1/2 to 3/4 on price and still made a tidy profit. funeral homes take advantage of people when they are at their most vulnerable walmart looks like saints next to these guys

I agree, part me out like an old Ford with everything that still works (and sell my gold crowns), cremate the rest, bury the ashes in the garden and be done with it, except for remembering me on my birthday with a shot of single malted.
