And it is good ginseng. I like to get their red ginseng roots, medium to large, and cut it into slices with chicken-bone shears or a vise grip. The slices are about 3-4 mm wide. They last about 1 hour, and are really good.

The old farmers there won't really plant it. They say once ginseng is grown in a field you can't ever plant anything else there.

Funfact: American health food stores advertise Chinese ginseng, while Chinese pharmacy's hawk American ginseng. Naturally, its all ultimately Siberian.

From the link below, "It may take 10 years to break even." Sounds like a significant investment.

I a Gruyère could be a flavor connection between cheese and ginseng, but I camembert to think it would be even remotely worth exploring. But screw it, me and the boys, velveeta coupla bites of each and find out.

Strangely, the transplanted Hmong groups in Wisconsin are hired to work on the Ginseng "farms". Perhaps they have some experience growing ginseng.... besides the fact they are hired as cheap labor?

Of course, we ship it to China and they repackage it in lead paint covered boxes and put those in asbestos-lined shipping crates to send back to us.
