/waiting to get home to re-watch in HD to look for it more carefully

No, I didn't see it, but i love the nonverbal "two by two, hands of blue" reference a couple weeks back. I love how he hasn't forgotten, or at least will go along with it for the fans.

Considering he still regularly attends Firefly-related conventions (and is absolutely hilarious when he does. Really, check some of them out on YouTube), it's not really surprising that he'd be up on it.

Last week's Castle thread had Whedon fanboys ripping Castle for bad writing, predictable plots, and poor character development. According to that thread, the show is carried by Fillion's performance.

Castle makes a few Whedon references, and there's not one complaint about the show so far. I'm so surprised!

Hell, one convention got canceled a few days before the event, so he and a few other cast hung out in the hotel bar with the fans for hours to make up for it.

Really? It's "Damn straight". Not like "Scared straight". It's a curse. Someone can be damned (as in "I'm damned to hell!"), But no one's ever been damned straight- put on a better path of life- due to a damnation. As far as I know.

Nah, he went and got himself a soul purely out of spite and jealousy. Buffy said that was the only way she could ever care for him so he went and got his soul back only to discover (like most things you do when trying to get back your ex) that it wasn't such a bright idea.

Really it's the equivalent of finding out your girlfriend still carries a torch for her ex that has a tat of her name on his ass. Then she leaves you so the first thing you do is go out and get her named tattooed on your ass to prove that not only are you just as good as the ex she is holding a torch for, but that you're better because you want her still.

As for Firefly being cancelled. I think the show could have been saved - and possibly got a larger budget to boot - if Whedon had asked Gina Torres if she could arrange a meeting with Sam Raimi and partnered up with Raimi's production company.

Is it too late? Can we get a one-off BBC miniseries? Direct to video SciFy? Anything to get some Bruce Campbell in my Firefly?

Please?

All I want is Book's back story. I don't think it's too much to ask for but I have my theory and I want to know if it lines up w/ Joss's vision.

Actually, it was his horror at his own actions due to his "love" (read: obsession) with Buffy. He was horrified at what he'd tried to do and blamed his lack of a soul for his actions. That's what I took out of it as his REAL reason (regardless of what he told Buffy in Season 7).

If Whedon had not promised the Book back story years ago, you'd have a point. Instead, we get crudely illustrated and sporadically delivered comics.

Of all the Castle eps, Fillion hams it up the most in this one. And it worked. I'm not sure if he could get away with the amount of the schtick there was in this episode every single time, but it was still fun.

I was hoping for the clip of him in the beginning of the show, before the "sneek peek" that was in the article. He references the browncoat "just being a costume he can't get over" or some such.

It was a great reference, with his daughter telling him to get over it.

I also did notice the Esposito Generation Kill reference.

Slightly harder to catch (without checking IMDB) was the other detective's doctor's costume, as apparently he was on General Hospital as a doctor for a very long time.

I can't figure out why the Mother was dressed as Cruella Devile though.

When Becket reveals her knowledge of Frank Miller's work it's a a little head nod to Stana Katic working with him in The Spirit. She played Morganstern, possibly the only likable character in that movie.

Well, if you read the gossip blogs, she's 'sposed to be a raging biatch. There was a blind about how Nathan called her out for being a raging c*nt on set & how she needed to cut that shiat out.
But I've also read some not-so-cool things about him, so who can say?
