Yeah I have 5 shows to watch on Monday and nothing on Tuesday and Wednesday. Watching TV is too damn stressful.

I'm still angry I missed this. I watched Heroes then didn't even check to see if any other show was new this week. Hopefully it will show up in a few minutes online, or else I can watch it at 11 on the Seattle channel I guess.

Tell that to Kevin Smith and Joss Whedan...the fanboy crowd is worth about $20-40 million at the box office tops. It's worth a shiatload of DVD sales though, especially if you triple and quadruple dip (see Evil Dead/Army of Darkness for instance).

Considering Fillion walked of the Firefly and Serenity sets with tons of random junk, that could have been the actual costume from Firefly. Maybe it was just clean for a change.

Well, if you read the gossip blogs, she's 'sposed to be a raging biatch. There was a blind about how Nathan called her out for being a raging c*nt on set & how she needed to cut that shiat out.

And you are still watching Heroes.....why? If it's just to see Claire have the lesbian make out scenes, there are tons of free sites that have superheroine slash, in both pic and text form. And they're probably better written than Heroes to boot...

If you're watching Heroes for some other reason, might I point you to the 'Graphic Novel' section of your local Barnes & Noble or Borders where you can find trade paperback collections of all the original comic stories Heroes cribs from. Again, much better written than Heroes...

And put me down for a 'still' as well.

Last week's Castle thread had Whedon fanboys ripping Castle for bad writing, predictable plots, and poor character development. According to that thread, the show is carried by Fillion's performance.

Castle makes a few Whedon references, and there's not one complaint about the show so far. I'm so surprised!

Nah, he went and got himself a soul purely out of spite and jealousy. Buffy said that was the only way she could ever care for him so he went and got his soul back only to discover (like most things you do when trying to get back your ex) that it wasn't such a bright idea.

Really it's the equivalent of finding out your girlfriend still carries a torch for her ex that has a tat of her name on his ass. Then she leaves you so the first thing you do is go out and get her named tattooed on your ass to prove that not only are you just as good as the ex she is holding a torch for, but that you're better because you want her still.

As for Firefly being cancelled. I think the show could have been saved - and possibly got a larger budget to boot - if Whedon had asked Gina Torres if she could arrange a meeting with Sam Raimi and partnered up with Raimi's production company.

Actually, it was his horror at his own actions due to his "love" (read: obsession) with Buffy. He was horrified at what he'd tried to do and blamed his lack of a soul for his actions. That's what I took out of it as his REAL reason (regardless of what he told Buffy in Season 7).

Of all the Castle eps, Fillion hams it up the most in this one. And it worked. I'm not sure if he could get away with the amount of the schtick there was in this episode every single time, but it was still fun.

I was hoping for the clip of him in the beginning of the show, before the "sneek peek" that was in the article. He references the browncoat "just being a costume he can't get over" or some such.

Slaves2Darkness: Browncoat: Josh needs to quit dicking around. I don't care about Dollhouse. I don't care about his online blog musicals. I don't care about his poorly drawn comics. He owes me a Book story.

Did you see Serenity? He quit clearly states in that there movie that Books back story will never see the light of day. Yeah, Serenity was 1/3 story advancement, 1/3 deceant movie, 1/3 fan wankery.

I also liked the "Nice shindig" reference at the end.

2009-10-27 11:18:50 AM

RageAgainstTheMachine: It was a great reference, with his daughter telling him to get over it.

I also did notice the Esposito Generation Kill reference.

Slightly harder to catch (without checking IMDB) was the other detective's doctor's costume, as apparently he was on General Hospital as a doctor for a very long time.

I can't figure out why the Mother was dressed as Cruella Devile though.

When Becket reveals her knowledge of Frank Miller's work it's a a little head nod to Stana Katic working with him in The Spirit. She played Morganstern, possibly the only likable character in that movie.

I enjoy Castle. It's just fun to watch.

DANCE, MONKEY! DANCE! FULFILL MY MONOMANIACAL OBSESSION!

Joss doesn't owe you or me shinola.

Go write fanfic if you're jonesin'. Or play the SERENITY RPG.

Our group recently finished a Serenity RPG adventure, and we had a blast. It was surprisingly good for a licensed product.

casey17: Sun God: That Stana Katic chick is a stunning looking woman.

Well, if you read the gossip blogs, she's 'sposed to be a raging biatch. There was a blind about how Nathan called her out for being a raging c*nt on set & how she needed to cut that shiat out.
But I've also read some not-so-cool things about him, so who can say?

Ok, now it really reminds me of Moonlighting.

That's why I switched from CSI:Sunglasses. There's not enough Carusoveracting to make up for the rest of the show, and Castle is just *fun*

I'll record CSI:Miami, but watch Castle now. I was pleasantly surprised, it has a NCIS vibe to it.

I thought that exchange was awesome.

Just the whole idea of it - I don't owe you shiat.

That's the type of thing that made Firefly great - before 'knowing the tropes and deliberately going against them' got passe, those moments just seemed so damned sincere.

/Still from me as well, but no thanks on an attempt to continue the story. That window has closed.

That's funny ... he's the reason I change the channel whenever that show comes on. Maybe in 20 years I'll appreciate him. For now all I think when I see him try to act: Kill it with fire!!!

You're criticizing the accuracy of a costume worn by a character played by an actor who played the character upon which the costume was based.

We're through the looking glass here, people.

Considering Fillion walked of the Firefly and Serenity sets with tons of random junk, that could have been the actual costume from Firefly. Maybe it was just clean for a change.

CyberDave: According to Nathan Fillion on Twitter, there was another Firefly reference besides the Mal outfit at the beginning. Anyone spot it?

/waiting to get home to re-watch in HD to look for it more carefully

Fillion just revealed it when somebody tweeted him. It's the catalyzer from Out of Gas. It's on one of the shelves of the bookcase.

that catalyzer sure has some miles on it!

it was one of the parts that kaylee salvaged in serenity too wasn't it?

On average, I introduce 4 people a year to Firefly. The DVD edition is old and worn from trading it out.

The absolute 100% universal response I get upon the DVDs being returned is "Fox canceled THIS? Assholes!"

My answer was simple. We already had a 'wagon train to the stars' series. It was called Star Trek and it went on only due to fandom. Fox didn't like Firefly because it wasn't as predictable, shallow and formulaic as most Star Trek. That and people don't do as many letter writing campaigns as they did in the 1960s when there was no Internet.

I hate you, Fox!

/Yes, Nathan Fillion is ruggedly handsome.
