Adam Carolla pretty much never deserves the spiffy tag, and especially not in this instance.

VARIETY was murdering the English language long before the internet....

/Better a sitcom than a wussified debasement of TOP GEAR

His podcasts are a great way to make an hour of coding/testing go by quickly.

Can we please move past this format?

I remember the thread about that. The funniest part was when the usual wharblegarble brigade came in to call Carolla a hollywood liberal elitist etc etc. When the truth of the matter he agrees with her politics. He hung up on her for blaming him for her being late to his show on his own show.

He was a contractor or contstuction worker in real life at some point, no? He was a boxer too, right?

He really stretches for the screen roles he gets.

Will Oswaldo be in the sitcom too? He is hilarious

I liked it too, I didn't expect much from it, but it turned out to be pretty good.

My parents are in their mid-60s and are hooked on procedural dramas. Cold Case, CSI, NCIS, Law & Order, et al.

I always thought it was bad writing/acting/direction that made shows like this bad, but now I see the error of my ways. It is the number of cameras that determines quality.

(agrees however about the nefarious, nefandous laugh-tracks)

You know his ex-wife will be hot. All wives on sitcoms, regardless of how ugly or fat the guy is, have to be hot. It's a rule.

I didn't like Adam Carolla at first, but once I became a fan of the old episodes of Loveline, I started finding him really funny. I thought his TLC show was pretty good, and The Hammer was better than a lot of the mainstream comedies released over the last few years.

I think the reason a lot of people don't like Adam is because you have to listen to him for awhile to really get his sense of humor. But he's razor-sharp, and probably one of the funniest talk personalities out there.

2009-10-23 12:28:55 PM
I'd rather see Norm MacDonald get his own show as Death.

2009-10-23 12:32:52 PM
Been a fan since my jr high days falling asleep to the Loveline radio show. His podcast is basically the best part of those shows where he rants. He seems down to earth and is very underrated as an intellgent thinker/philosopher. His observation ability is pretty impressive.

If you follow his podcast, it's fairly entertaining to hear from an 'insider' what you have to go through to get a show on the air.

From a Sports Guy mailbag:

Adam Carolla is a millionaire. He's extremely rich. He has a beautiful wife. He lives in a mansion in Hollywood Hills. He works 20 hours a week and spends the entire time talking (which is funny because he would have spent the entire time talking, anyway).

And he leads the kind of life where this was his most traumatic moment of 2006: He bought a used Ferrari on eBay, thought it was arriving on a Friday, and it didn't show up until Sunday ... ruining his weekend in the process.

That's a true story.

2009-10-23 01:04:37 PM
Liked his show, and the movie. I hope sometime early in the new show he gets to be in the situation where he is sitting at an otherwise empty intersection, held up by a red arrow, and goes into his lecture/rant about them. Red arrows are everywhere in Vegas, and I run about one a day.

I wondered if I was the only one. I stumbled across that movie a couple weeks ago, and LMAO at most of it. Good movie for your average farker, I say.

That was awesome. We didn't get his show out here. Instead we were stuck with David Lee Roth and his hour of astonishing awfulness in the mornings.

+1 for his podcast as well.

Hilarious & I probably know more about North Hollywood than if I actually lived there.

I am a Norm Macdonald fan & while searching for Norm stuff, I cam across this gem with him on Adam's show talking about f'd-up Kenny Rogers songs.

COWARD OF THE COUNTY (new window)

Started downloading Adam's podcasts after than & been listening ever since.

GET IT ON !!

Corolla still seems like a lesser version Norm Macdonald to me.

I don't know much about his politics, but I do know that he's an atheist who insulted Bush and supports gay marriage. Ann Coulter is a fundie theocrat.

They're going to make a huge comeback. Single cam shows are costly and other than Modern Family, almost uniformly get middling ratings.

Big Bang, Two and a Half and How I met your mother are killing The Office, Parks and Rec and 30 Rock and other than Sheen's salary they cost a lot less.

Anyway...

Adama Carrolla's daily podcast entertains me during my commute/exercising every day. I never really followed anything he did until a friend turned me onto his Podcast. GET IT ON.

Also saw The Hammer, good movie. Worth the rental.

/I also listen to Bill Simmons' podcast (minus the basketball ones), for what it's worth.

JusticeandIndependence: I enjoy his podcasts. He tends to ramble, but he is funny about it.

I like his podcasts, too, but he tends to overestimate how informed and intelligent he is. He is clearly bright, but he can be a bit of a self-righteous simpleton at some point during every podcast.

If the show is in the same vein as The Hammer then that would be a must DVR for me.
Loved The Hammer and the Carolla Project and he was great on the Loveline Radio show his other shows were total Meh though.

Peggy Bundy bouncing down the stairs probably accelerated puberty by an order of magnitude. Natural Bouncy F cups on a redhead are my cup of tea. Guess that's not for everyone.
