Yeah, that one would actually freak me out. I did a lot of acid back in the day, and walking under that would either trigger a flashback or convince me I was having one.

Is that even real?

Knucklepopper: When I was six, we lived on a farm in northern California and in the fall, the clouds would gather heavy and low across the sky. My brother and I would ride our bikes out to do the chores. One day, there was a particularly large and dark cloud hanging over us. He looks up and says, "That's the devil." "Nuh-uh." "Yeah-huh. That's the devil, he's following us."
I got scared and pedalled away as fast as I could down the road. Kept looking up and the cloud was still there. Started seeing eyes and a mouth, all open and shiat. Scared the hell out of me that it was following me. It passed but the memory of that afternoon's always stayed with me though I could never again recall the face I saw in the cloud.
Until now.

By Northern California, do you mean northern california or actually central california?

Nothing like getting above the clouds. We enjoy a phenomena called a temperature inversion in the local mountains. A layer of cloud will sit in the valleys and the mountain tops are in clear blue skies and sunshine. The alpine temps are above freezing and the valley is -15°C. Makes for nice ski touring days.

oldebayer: Cumulonimbus is one of those miscegenated clouds, an unnatural hybrid of two different species. Clouds should stick to their own kind. There's a law about this in Louisiana.

I thought it was the personal opinion of one rogue justice of the peace, not an actual law. No?

Also, are these actually cloud formations, or just clouds with nice colours?

Which red flag do you want first?

All woman mag? No, no biggie.
All women photographers? No, but pushing it.
All to 'perfect' in contrast? Yes.

Fakes, one and all. If not 100%, at least 50% from 'retouching'. ppffsstt

East Coast, yes, north, not so much; it's in southern north carolina. I wish the camera would have caught all the colors; the entire sky was purple, the sunset was red and orange and the front clouds were purple and pink.

Looked at the picture and thought of Whistler when I was there last winter. Checked the profile and I was pretty close. Kelowna?

Close. West of Casltegar, north of Red Mountain Ski Area. This shot is from the summit of Mt. Plewman it's about a 2 hour ski up from the highway that runs west to Vancouver. Nice little ski zone with 1000' to 1400' runs. If you've skied at Red the terrain here is similar but you usually have it to yourself, or maybe a few other parties.
