Probably not, new , yes.

2009-10-16 02:21:08 PM
I think a better question is "Will we see playoff C.C.?"

2009-10-16 02:34:27 PM
I hope CC gets shelled, the Angels throw a no-hitter and the Yanks burn in flames that somehow best the 2004 ALCS..which is to say the worst collapse in pro sports.
Maybe they get no hit the entire series? or.. the series ends on a total screw up by A-Rod..who knows how it could be anyhow worse, but here's to hoping.
Probably won't happen, but man that would be great.

Go Angels!

Currently 44 degrees & rainy ... I'm ready for some football!

Go Yanks!

I just hope the rain doesn't push game 3 too far back into next week. I have tickets to game 3 and will be in LA until Wed. afternoon.

Let's Go Yankees!!

Feels normal again, with the Yankees playing baseball in October while the Red Sux are in Florida establishing residency to avoid Mass taxes. If only the WTC were still there, I could pretend it's the late 90s...

Having said that, may the better team win!

2009-10-16 03:32:43 PM
The Angels are one of those teams I can't imagine how anyone can root for.

Let's see those Angels runner steal bases in the rain.

CC was awesome in the playoffs last year and came up big when it counted. I see no reason why he wouldn't repeat that.

I just hate their name. I know its based on the name of the city, but for a team of grown men, with a name like that... i dont think if i was a player i could proudly say "I am an Angel!"

I predict 1 stabbing in the LA Dodgers parking lot and a beatdown in the Bronx. As for the game...dunno? Dodgers and Yankees win?

After winning because Kershaw gave his very best Rick Ankiel impression yesterday, I'm hoping the Phils swing the bats a little better today.

You apparently didn't watch the playoffs last year.

He definitely carried the Brewers into the playoffs, but lasted only 3 innings in his only appearance in the playoffs last year.

Please disregard my last statement. While true, I obviously missed the sarcasm.

Bet you Tommy Lasorda banged more hookers than A-Rod ! Probably has one bent over his recliner right now...with the game on and Golden Girls split screen in the background.

But seriously- Go Yankees!

What about pre-game 4, 2004 playoff A-Rod? That guy was really pretty good.

Eh, I kinda liked the Angels since the rally monkey and boomstick playoffs and WS win.
That and I hate the Yankees so so very much.

I thought the rally monkey was pretty funny. They completely lost me with the thunder sticks though. Those things are a disgrace.

Like Mike Scioscia though. Went to my high school, way before my time.

Pedro pitching against Manny in the playoffs is weird.

prediction: Pedro plunks Manny, Manny charges the mound...bench clearing brawl ensues. Victorino gets ejected for raising eyebrows in centerfield.

Know what's even worse? Those horns they use in South Africa that end up sounding like a swarm of bees.

Why is this game on so damn early?

Maybe it was just the expression he was making, but the home plate umpire looks like a tard.

if loney would have tagged ruiz at first (even if he was on the bag) and THEN touched first base, it's a double play right?

i'm sure buck martinez knows, but i understand that he can't put it into words.

Dr.Knockboots: Why is this game on so damn early?

I thought the complaint was that games were on so late that kids couldn't watch baseball.

Angels-Yankees is on at 8. Would you rather this game have started 11 pm eastern?

what about a 5pm and 8pm start?
I think i could come up with a batter plan than.. "middle of the work day Friday"

Wonder if this game was in Philly if there would be any Padilla Flotilla signs or sections.

Except last night's game was almost 4 hours... these games are too meaningful to overlap and I don't think fans want to be flipping channels to try to catch both at once.

well, 4e/1p IS a "traditional" start time
I think the games being 4,8 instead of 4,7 is more a function of Fox's insistence than anything else. It is also very likely Fox (or TBS, though Fox is more likely) specifically requested a 4 hour start time difference.

MLB generally doesn't give a shiat, but if you were to start a west coast game between 2 and 5 pm, there's a really awful time of day where the sun is low and the shadows are long on the field (and usually between the mound and plate, essentially stifling offense), so it'd be ill advised to have such an important game at that time. also, yankees angels HAS to be prime time, because the average fan might actually care about that series.

it's really just a sad display that baseball has lost its popularity. The NLCS is on CABLE, and they're starting games at 1 pm on Fridays... RYAN HOWARD THOUGH !!!! fark padilla
