LOLWUT?

The paper said three of five members had objections during the early phases of the process, but were persuaded in favor of Obama mainly by the chairman of the committee, former Prime Minister Thorbjoern Jagland

Yes, there was debate early on. Why wouldn't there be?

Then how in the hell did he get it?

Most members of the Norwegian Nobel Committee initially argued against awarding the 2009 Peace Prize to President Barack Obama before agreeing to the choice, Norway's top-selling daily Verdens Gang (VG) said on Thursday.

Ohhhh. Subby is a dumbass. That's how he got it.

No debates, just deciding! It's how Americans expect things.

It's really a shame that silent majority didn't show up to vote against this communist fascist threat to America.

Fortunately, they'll get another chance to in three years. IF HE HASN'T DESTROYED THE USA BY THEN.

VG said one of the newly elected members, Aagot Valle from the Socialist Left Party, had strong objections to giving the prize to Obama

The socialist leftists were against Obama?

I'm sure we weren't supposed to hear about THAT.

Headline is technically true, but only due to our low voter turn-out. Out of 300 million Americans, most of them did not vote for Barack Obama. This includes children, infants, felons, etc.

You'll have to excuse our neoconservatives. The concept that you could change your mind during a discussion is foreign to them. It's much trickier than just repeating talking pints.

If you put half of our Senate Republicans on the Nobel committee, they'd give the Nobel Peace Prize to "tax cuts" every year until they died.

No, it's true. He won 69.4 million votes, and there are 308 million Americans.

So, clearly that means America hates him and he should be impeached.

There are only a few things that could get me to bust out the arms and fight. One of them is to defend the US from jackbooted racist morons.

At the risk of sounding like George Bush and an ITG, "Bring it on."

A pear appears to have sprouted a mouth, and guffaws with a questioning boast before a colorful background and superimposed block letters.

Seriously. .. Seriously?

Yes, because winning by the largest margin for a non-incumbent candidate in history means that the majority didn't vote for him.

You know what? You know what? I'm just not even gonna talk, I'm not - I'm just not even gonna talk to you.

Maybe like anyone else with half a brain they saw hime as the lesser of two evils? He has definitely done more for peace than former German chancellor Helmut Kohl, Chinese dissident Wei Jingsheng, Israeli nuclear whistle-blower Mordechai Vanunu, and SOS Children's Villages.

I sometimes wonder what would happen if voting were required by law. Yes, I know, that's not legal and there's no way to really enforce it but what if every single person over the age of 18 and legally able to vote did so?

I'll save you the trouble of making me laugh at you by going ahead and confirming that it would not, as some would think, mean that either the Democrats or the Republicans would stay in power forever if everyone voted.

2009-10-15 03:33:01 PM
It's tedious.

Epoch_Zero: Seriously. .. Seriously?

That's funny. I didn't think voter turnout was anywhere close to 100%. The number was closer to 60%. So even if he had won 75% of the vote that would have been less than half of eligible Americans. Subby is right.

50% of the country reads the news. It scares me that anyone votes who isn't informed. Force even more dumbasses to vote and we're in for even worse trouble. Look how many stupid Republican teabaggers are out there "Obama is a Muslim and the congragation will damn him to purgatory", or how many Democrat Welfare queens. "Obama gonna pay my mortgage, I ride the ACORN bus to vote"

They probably should have gotten off of their fat asses and voted for themselves, eh?

I vote. Therefore I have a right to complain. I say if you don't vote you have no right to complain about an outcome you don't like.
