Is that similar to being consequenced?

That happened at my high school where a couple of guys went streaking during an assembly. I heard they had to be registered as sexual offenders because of that.

FTFA:Harapat said this isn't the type of behavior that he and others want to shrug off as "kids will be kids."

"At what level of a crime does that stop? For example, if you're at McDonald's and having a Happy Meal with your kids and some adult male gets kicked out because he isn't wearing a shirt. And he obviously isn't right in the head and he goes outside, pulls his pants down and pushes his butt up against the glass while you're eating. ... Now tell me what the difference is when we fill a stadium with parents, minor children, and some very small children and we have naked people running across the field," he said.

Streaking a football game is kids being kids. Big deal, some guy runs around naked for a little bit, it's probably cold, he gets chased off the field, and the game goes on. It's a bit of a laugh.

If a guy decided to moon you through the glass at McDonalds he's being an ass. Just ignore it, the little children laugh a little, and are quickly entertained by plastic toys, and everyone goes on with their day. Unless the guy is purposefully trying to expose himself to minors, then he gets arrested for indecent exposure and sent to the worst pit in hell.

Teenagers streaking a football game =! pedophile exposing himself in McDonalds. Huge difference. One is a teenager blowing off steam, one is a creep.

/I can understand cops chasing a streaker off the field, it really isn't part of the game, but they're making mountains out of molehills here
//believe it or not, young children do understand what naked is, and are not really as shocked by it as adults are

2009-10-15 04:53:15 AM
Apparently very small children are disproportionately affected by nakedness (presumably in comparison to normal-sized children) -- is that why naked midgets are disproportionately hot?

Oh my god the kids will see a naked person the horror! The horror!

I want every breastfeeding mother prosecuted and placed on a sex offender registry for exposing her breast not only to the public which may include minor children, but also her own child and forcing the babe to suck on them. If that's not sexual abuse I don't know what is! In fact if the police of this great nation don't prosecuting such crimes I'll have to wonder if perhaps they and the prosecutors don't support pedophilia and might be closeted pedophiles themselves!

I've never understood the need to run around butt arse naked. While I don't think they belong on the sex offender registry, it's just a stupid thing to do. Especially up here right now, it's cold has hell! The streakers are lucky their goodies didn't receive so high that they choked on them.

FTFA: "More than 500 kids surrounded the two officers, swearing, throwing pop bottles and tennis shoes. ... I guess they were upset that one of their fellow students was being arrested."

Or maybe they were upset that someone was getting arrested and would likely be charged as a sex offender (and of course an adult) for something as stupid as streaking a football game.

It's too bad the 500 kids stopped at throwing pop bottles. It would have been much better if they lynched and killed the two cops.

I think it's absolutely stupid for a kid to streak. I also think it could mess with the minds of small children. Believe it or not, every 5 year old has not, nor needs to, see a (semi-adult) penis.

That having been said, some sexual offender laws are absolutely puritanical. A 17 year old streaking at a football game does not equal a 30 year old trying to molest young girls. A guy peeing by a building does not equal an adult male showing his junk to adolescent girls. A 17 year old guy sleeping with is 15 year old girlfriend is not a child molester.

It's just absurd, really.

2009-10-15 05:08:10 AM
It's incidents like this that have to be punished most severely, streaking, by itself is a disruptive crime that flouts not only the law but our collective sense of decency. If you let something like this slide, it's only a matter of time before we are turning a blind eye to more serious crimes in schools.

But surprise, surprise! The student also had "mary-jane" on him and probably had ingested some before going on his drug-addled trek through everyone else's enjoyable afternoon. I think a little taste of jail should be in this students future, let's see how much streaking he does then.

ooooooo
I thought that they ALL should have stripped and streaked ... arrest them all ?? and show how farking stupid the cops are/the law is

but your idea is MUCH MUCH BETTER

esp since there would be no way to charge everyone with murder, and no way to prove WHICH kid(s) did it !!

2009-10-15 05:13:18 AM
I think something that's being overlooked here are the egos of the kids out there playing their heart out in the great game of Football. FTFA, one of the players is quoted that the crowd cheered more for the streaker than for the team. And that's just sad - these boys spend months practicing, working out, memorizing playbooks, and getting the hell beat out of them just so they can compete at the high school level, and to have all that hard work ruined by a skinny kid whose only chance at popularity is breaking the law?

Those heroes deserve some sort of compensation in their grades or attendance at school for putting up with trash like that.

2009-10-15 05:20:44 AM
I recall a case where women streaking was found not to be a crime, because the law said showing your genitals to others was indecent exposure. For a female running, the whole geometry of the situation makes it highly unlikely anyone actually saw her genitals proper.

Guys were screwed though. The law ain't fair. But, it promotes naked women over naked men and I can get behind that. Sometimes discrimination rocks!

Dubai Vol: America was founded by the Puritans, a group of people too uptight for the English!

I find it highly inaccurate that people say the Puritans came here seeking religious freedom.
Curious line from the Columbia Encyclopedia: "Although not actively persecuted, the group was subjected to ecclesiastical investigation and to the mockery, criticism, and disfavor of their neighbors."

They'd fled to Amsterdam, where they found no persecution whatsoever. Actually, nobody farking cared what they did. In fact, this presented a problem because with no enemy-at-the-gates situation there was nothing to hold them together and they saw their kids integrating with the surrounding Dutch.

It wasn't until 10 farking years of living in unfettered freedom that they decided they had to flee to America so they could create a church capable of controlling and limiting the freedoms of its members. After all, you don't like it, where you gonna go? Who are you gonna be talking to about different ideals than the official church doctrine?

"No, it's not a kids-will-be-kids matter."

Umm...yes it is. What a douchebag.
Back when I was in high school (early 90s) kids would streak every now and then. Everybody would get a good laugh, if caught they would probably have to go to the principal and get detention. At what point did such a relatively innocent act become a serious offense? I guess it goes hand in hand with all of the asinine "no tolerance" policies and the end of the idea that kids doing stupid shiat and make bad decisions does not make them criminals, just dumb kids.

Yes. And a very christian one at that, who pieously goes to church every Sunday and always votes for the "family values" candidate in elections.

You can tell by the narrative of his story. It involves adult white asses pressed firmly against a cold windowpane. The McDonalds happymeal is also a powerful symbol to use as an example stemming from his subconciousness. For what is a McD burger, but meat slopply lodged between buns? This man has issues that would Siegmund Freud run him out of his office, it's obvious. We're talking about a supressed homosexuality, shoved so far into the closet it's practically in Narnia.

Why aren't we shooting these dangerous perverts on sight?
Imagine if two or more ever streaked at the same time.
My God, it would be...unmentionable. The consequences to our children would make crack cocaine look like rock candy. It would be an unmitigated disaster on the order of the Hindenburg, or Krakatoa, or Katrina. Forget shooting them, we should hang them publicly to make sure everyone else gets the message.
This is AMERICA, dammit, we have freedom from that kind of thing.

There are a variety of laws that cover these situations. Here in MA, accidentally exposing yourself while taking a leak is indecent exposure. A 30 year old molesting a 15 year old is committing indecent assault & battery. the 17 year old "sleeping" with his girlfriend is committing statutory rape. There are other charges; open & gross lewdness and lewd & lascivious condust as well. If you don't like the laws, change them. For every case like this streaking incident, where there is no real intent to cause offense, there are hundreds where the intent isn't so good natured.

I don't think Berkeley graduates are the ones that have a problem with nudity. From what I remember of higher education, nudity was generally pretty accepted, sometimes even encouraged.

Your concern should be directed at the "ZOMG!!1 Wont someone think of the CHILDREN!?" electorate instead.

And despite disagreeing with your initial knee-jerk reaction to blame Berkeley liberals, this is the part of your post I agree with.

The dilution of the sex offender registry is out of control. Anyone trying to check the registry for sex offenders near a park somewhere in suburbia, will probably freak out over the number of nearby offenders. Especially the number of people who have been registered for such things as "sexual contact with a minor", "statutory rape", "indecent exposure" and similar charges that are getting vaguer for each bullshiat court-ruling.

Someone busted in the wrong town for drunkenly taking a leak in the bushes in a park is not the same as someone who likes to stroll around wearing a coat and his special pant-leg hanging from a garterbelt, allowing for minimum suspicion until he decides to open his coat and show the good stuff to the world.
Still, they can both be listed as sex offenders, having been found guilty of indecent exposure.

Some 18 year old kid caught in the back seat of a Prius with a 15 year old, is not the same as someone who was caught doing some very special babysitting for a five year old. They are still registered for the same "crime".

I'm not sure how legislation works in MN, and I'm not going to google "Minnesota legislation on child pornography", but it is not unlikely that any high school kid filming the streaking with his or her cellphone, might be guilty of "creating child pornography".
