Yup, that sounds like Peggy Noonan.

You do not want to miss the weekly festival of swooning self-regard and misty incoherence that will be Peggy Noonan's "Study Group" for undergrads this year, during her fellowship at the Kennedy School's Institute of Politics.

lol, awesome

I'm sorry. Did I just read a page full of commentary aimed at discrediting someone for...

Did anything this woman did or said enter into the equation?

The only flag Peggy Noonan HAS is a freak flag.

I'm actually surprised she's taking a break from sucking the cock of Reagan's corpse long enough to devote so much time to something like this.

Peggy Noonan wrote that Elian Gonzalez was carried to Florida by angelic dolphins because "God's creatures had been commanded to protect one of God's children".

Asshole angelic dolphins didn't do shiat for Elian's mother, BTW.

Wow, I'm torn.

On the one hand, she did have this to say about Sarah Palin (from Wikipedia...yeah, I know:)

During the 2008 presidential campaign, Noonan wrote about Sarah Palin's vice presidential candidacy in the Wall Street Journal. In one opinion piece, Noonan expressed her view that Palin did not demonstrate "the tools, the equipment, the knowledge or the philosophical grounding one hopes for, and expects, in a holder of high office" and Noonan concluded that Palin's candidacy marked a "vulgarization in American Politics" that is "no good... for conservatism... [or] the country."

On the other hand, she does seem to have some serious ego issues, which is the main reason I can't respect Limbaugh, Hannity, etc.

And then, on the other other hand, this article mixes legitimately ridiculous stuff (assuming she really was hammered during the meeting) with stuff like...

"You know, and the problem with George W. Bush, is that he made the whole world so nervous. Y'know!"

"My study group is about being a person who thinks things and believes them and turns them into words that convey thoughts and feelings."

"You never have to feel that you're not allowed to think what you think."

Can someone please tell me what's wrong with the preceding statements? The group seemed relatively casual, so the casualness isn't really a criticism. The third quote is 100% spot on, and necessary, considering the arrogance of punditry lately. And the second quote might sound silly, if you didn't know she was ONE OF THE MOST POWERFUL SPEECH WRITERS IN THE WORLD at one point.

Conclusion: I need a nap.

Yes, I did. The formatting for this media eludes me. I have to read drivel before I get to the Harvard professor? That the article is about? REALLY?

"Let your freak flag fly"

That's some condemning shiate right there!

That the article writer considers Noonan "inchoherent" is a tad pot meet kettle.

I couldn't understand anything contained therein.

Peggy Noonan shouldn't be authorized to "lead" anything.

Amazing; that Noonan quote on Pslin could just as easily be applied to Pslin, except that Reagan went further and committed treason.

What exactly is a "study group," in this context? What are they studying? What's the point? Or is it just a forum to let Noonan pontificate to students?

My professors were chomping at the bit for a chance to sit down with students and talk about whatever (small liberal arts college - I had an hour long conversation with the chair of the lit department about zombies and how they relate to deconstructionism), but I can't think of one that'd set up a weekly meeting just to bullshiat.

Reminds me of the drunk mom from "I Accuse My Parents." Did Noonan show up in a funny hat?

Poor kid who booked Noonan must be flashing back to the cruel giggles. "Tee hee, she's drunk!"

The article reads like it was written by an undergraduate idiot. I'm sure that's because it was. Doesn't the Gawker have an editor?

A "study group" is like a book group but with more direct discussion about work. So a bunch of people in the same field might get together once a month or something to discuss a particularly vexing problem or case.

They can be helpful, but more often they are circle jerks for people with ego issues.

So...does this mean conservatives are going to stop whining about Harvard being a liberal elitist institution? Because it's hard to imagine Liberty University employing some like...well...anyone whose ideology is anywhere to the left of Mussolini.

Since Mussolini started his career as a Socialist, perhaps this remark needs more clarification?

/yes yes, I know you were never told this in high school
