FYI: Article writer, an ad agency didn't come up with the Spongmonkeys. They were already an Internet meme.

Quizno's was making an early attempt to appeal to Internet geeks. Seemed to have backfired majorly, though.

That Palm Pre girl, with her flesh colored outfit. The first couple times I saw her, I was wondering why she had lines cut into her shoulders, only figuring out later that they were cloth straps.

But yeah, Burger King. Sort of a slasher film villian/stalker vibe.

Was it Sprite, back during the "image is nothing, taste is everything" slogan? They had quite a few great ads back then... then they did a 180 and began making ads that were exactly what that era was making fun of.
