MilitaryTigger: IF it was a craft, Aurora is the best guess...

Meanwhile, back at area 51, we haven't had anything of real classified value there for almost 20 years... Really, think about it... with every crazy coot out there reading about the place, trying to crawl in, trying to fly remore camera planes over, etc... Why would we have left anything there?

All the cool stuff has been moved somewhere unknown to the internet hordes.

Or it's been moved to an inconspicuous location on a big popular base...

Actually, it all moved to Big Eddie's mom's basement in Hoboken.
And it's just freakin' genius because no one would ever thing to look there.

It depends on whose cool stuff it is. Some cool stuff is here, and some is over there, that way. Aerospace cool stuff is in a different place than high energy weapon cool stuff, for example.

Fat and Nasty 86: Governments of the world will never admit intelligent life exists on other planets / dimensions because they rule by exploiting the fear of God. Once the world realizes our leaders aren't doing God's work (because he doesn't exist in the sense that we've been told) then we'll stop listening to our leaders. There will be no authority, no loyalty -- just complete and utter chaos.

What do you mean? We will unite as a planet under one government to fight the threat of these alien invaders.

. It is a shadow from the F'n Sun. You can see that the shadow follows the curve and shape of the cloud and even dips halfway due to the curve of the fluffy water vapor. What a FUD factory these UFO nuts(and the media, as they know better) are.

Don't be a dick. There are UFO's. There are things that happen that are unidentified. Sorry, shadows cast by the sun mid-day do not cast up. It doesn't mean they are aliens, but it is worth looking into. We know now of weird phenomenom such as ball lightning, sea monsters such as giant squid, and travelling gods we now know as meteorites. People all laughed at that in the past as well. Instead of ridiculing people why don't you look more seriously into why millions of people experience and witness the "unexplained" instead of just trying to blow it off with lame excuses.

If something ripped through the clouds, wouldn't you have seen some type of disturbance/displacement/vortex? As far as I could tell, the clouds sit there unmoved. And if it was an object, has anybody considered that it could have been a decoy and this was the test of a anti-missile or anti-aircraft SAM that missed? I do think the article said "missile" not "rocket" and you usually don't just fire these off without a target. I've seen many of these types of launches and depending on the angle you are looking, you don't always see the decoy or the exhaust that it gives off.

Oh_Enough_Already: Does anybody have a good answer as to why Iran is not presently an irradiated holde in the ground?

Seriously, Israel, WTF?

Are you pretending you're the Elway-led broncos and want to wait until there's only 40 seconds on the clock before you do something???

If Israel takes care of business themselves, the whole region goes bonkers, worried they would be next on the chopping block... It would get very ugly, very fast.

Which is why WE (US) will prolly end up having to do it, to avoid Israel doing it. It'll still stir the region up like a hornet's nest, just not as bad.

Check out Nostradamus's view on it all if prophacy appeals to you...

The whole region, Syria excepted, is pretty much scared to death of a strong Iran. Israel would encounter more support than you imagine.

Russia is a problem, but perhaps the Israelis know something that will bring them into line (the secret of the Arctic Sea, or perhaps an embarrassing list of Russians developing the bomb for Iran).

But the real problem for Israel now is that there are just too many nuclear sites. Any action against Iran will take the form of a full scale naval and aerial war, and will thus require the Americans.

Treygreen13: sseye: Turing_Machine: Shadow from the rocket exhaust against the cloud.

Wrong angle for a shadow of the rocket exhaust.

Probably one of our "missile defense shield" gizmos getting just close enough to justify $5b more for Boeing and Raytheon without actually showing promise of being effective.

Sounds like a very risky proposition just to prove a point.

Could have been Israel taking a shot with one of the lasers we sold them.

Okay, but if you're going to do it, do it right.

Take out Iran's nuclear capability AND Israel's at the SAME TIME.

That way no one thinks you're playing favorites.

Well, why stop there? Why not take out Pakistan's, India's, Russia's, France's, and China's nukes too? I mean, if you are going to take care of one or two countries, why not all of them?

After all, these countries pose exactly the same threat to world peace.

But after 38 seconds a nearby cloud is mysteriously torn in two by a flying object travelling at speed.

Now, that's fast.

1. How does a shadow cast upward?
2. How does a shadow rotate 90 degrees?

Here's a little somethin' to help the cause.

2009-10-06 11:29:15 PM
Little thing about Nuclear weapons that people should understand by now:

They're not weapons of aggression. They're weapons of defense.

Nations that have them?...They don't get invaded, bombed, attacked, or even threatened all that harshly. Look at North Korea and compare their current status to that of Saddam Hussein and Iraq. The first one had Nuclear weapons, the second one did not.

Now, why is it a bad thing that Iran get nukes? If they do, they become immune to America's overwhelming military might. All that firepower, all those missiles, all that hardware and all those soldiers will count for exactly Jack $#@!. And with those nukes in place, they're no longer concerned with Israel's nuclear arsenal. Bomb us, we bomb you. Iran can then threaten, militarily, the entire region. No one wants that, not even their allies.

But, it's all a moot point since they're at least 5 turns away from a breakthrough, and we've got at least a dozen algorithm-enhanced probe teams within reach of their capital. We can just reset their production at our leisure. No planet busters for you. NOT YOURS.

1. How does a shadow cast upward?

The sun is in space. It is not on the earth.

2. How does a shadow rotate 90 degrees?

WTF? The shadow is on the left side of the rocket contrail. The cloud is on the left side too, where do you see 90 degrees? The sun is out of frame so you have to use the shadow on the contrail plume. The contrails shadow is cast on the cloud. I film air-shows so I've seen plenty of shadows cast from clouds onto other clouds. It's not rocket science.

2009-10-06 11:37:27 PM
Infernalist: They're not weapons of aggression. They're weapons of defense.

So, nobody anywhere will ever use a nuclear weapon aggressively? Well, fark my protest - that's terrific news!

Moray: 2. How does a shadow rotate 90 degrees?

there is thermite in them there clouds

2009-10-06 11:41:07 PM
Not to bolster the ufo claims, but if it was the shadow of the plume falling on a cloud layer lower than the altitude of the rocket wouldn't it appear to fall from right to left as the rocket rises. Just think of how the shadow of a flag pole extends to the east after mid-day. The darkening in the cloud clearly appears to occur from left to right, to my eyes.
