Orly Taitz is a perfect storm of crazy. There is no end to the entertainment value that she provides.

Almost equally amusing is watching the freepers support an ex-Soviet immigrant in her efforts to overthrow the President. The only thing more ironic would be if Orly Taitz was a muslim.

IrateShadow: Seems like she's intentionally aiming for some jail time.

Let her try.

The authorities need to practice restraint when dealing with the whackadoos, like the people who show up armed at presidential appearances (without sacrificing security, of course). The last thing we need is for one of them to become a martyr.

But Orly just doesn't have the makings of a good martyr. She's not smart, she's annoying as hell, her principles are questionable and she doesn't engender sympathy. I say lock her up for contempt.

Good. F'ing. LORD.

Okay, this has stopped being funny and is now extremely irritating. If I'm Judge Land, I deny both of her motions without comment and up the sanction to $25,000, giving her exactly seven days to pay or she'll be held in contempt and a warrant for her arrest will be issued.

Admittedly, this pisses me off more than most because I'm a lawyer and it bugs me to no end to see judicial resources wasted by idiots like this. She's no better than the pro se plaintiff suing everyone he ever met to stop foreclosure of his mortgage and seeking a billion in damages.

I love that this "lawyer", who by law is required to be familiar with the legal procedure for her jurisdiction in order to practice therein, is apparently unaware of the procedural rules regarding contempt charges, as evidenced by her bizarre complaint about the Judge handling the matter himself.

Here's a tip for those watching: when a judge wants to, he/she can issue contempt charges in his/her own court in almost any jurisdiction in the country. The idea that a judge would have to have another judge involved to handle it when a person had legal contempt of the court is simply insane.

Taitz, among other things: Takes umbrage at judge's use of the term Birther to describe her, noting that it is often coupled with "even more colorful epithets such as 'batshiat crazy'"

What a more colorful epithet Taitz may look like:

Orly Taitz, make public your law degree. The full one, not that short form that's kept on file. Did you really pass the bar, or did people look the other way, despite the fact that you aren't eligible to be a lawyer. Where is the law degree?

2009-10-05 04:02:57 PM
Surely this distinguished Southern Judge would have jailed Thurgood Marshall in the 1940s and '50s for contempt when the future Supreme Court Justice repeatedly filed cases demanding on constitutional as well as social and psychological grounds the desegregation of primary and secondary public schools against well-established precedents such as Plessy v. Fergusson, 163 U.S. 537 (1896)

i love that she included the citation for plessy as if she were relying on it for absolutely anything. as if the judge is going to read it and think "well she just called me a jim crow racist, but she included a citation so i'll let it slide."

Says Land may be disqualified because he allegedly owns stock in Microsoft and Comcast which are "aligned both politically and economically with a key Defendant in this case" -- "the de facto President of the United States, Barack Hussein Obama" (emphasis hers)

Is the Microsoft/Comcast thing new or was it always there and just camouflaged by all the other crazy bits?

I think Land should fine her a little, but more importantly demand a psych eval be done. She's nuts and seems to be getting nuttier. Heavy fining/jail is just going to agitate her further.

"not large of stature"

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/01/world/americas/01iht-01holder.18302986.html

Nine-year-old Eric Holder sat in the basement of his family's house in Queens, enraptured by the inaugural words of the fresh-faced president from Massachusetts. The broadcast on the tiny television set faded in and out, muffled by the steady roar of jetliners at nearby La Guardia Airport, but John F. Kennedy's call for hope and change was enough to stir the boy's desire to serve.

By ninth grade, Ricky, as he was known to his friends, was standing before his peers in the auditorium making his case for student body president. In high school, towering above his classmates and teachers at 6 feet 3 inches tall, he passionately debated how to rid African-Americans of their second-class status.

*ahem*

Barck HUSSSEIN Soreto could stop all of this if he would simply produce the birf certificte. Ms. Tatiz may be emotionally overwraght, but that's because the country she grew up in is under attack by communism and negrocentrism.

Now, if That One really is a US citizen, I guess we'll have two accept that we as a nation have gone so far off the path of Christianity to do such a thing as vote for a clear socialist, but we cannot all agree that He is a citzen until he puts this question to wrest.

Orly: "I looked up and immediately recognized an individual entering and approaching the serving counter, due to his well know [sic] TV displayed distinguishing features: his trim upper lip mustache, not large of stature and general olive complexion."

Judge Haller: "Are you on drugs?"

Orly: Land cannot be an impartial adjudicator of whether she should be sanctioned by the court because he has "radically PREJUDGED" the facts of the Birthers' case (caps hers)

Judge Haller: "Are you mocking me?"

Orly: Takes umbrage at judge's use of the term Birther to describe her, noting that it is often coupled with "even more colorful epithets such as 'batshiat crazy'"

Judge Haller: "The next time you appear in my court, you will look lawyerly. And I mean you comb your hair, and wear a suit and tie. And that suit had better be made out of some sort of... cloth. You understand me?"

I know what you mean. I served several (5 or so in a year) detentions for a buddy (a year ahead of me) in high school. Small school, 200+ students; so my first day of senior year, the lady who hands out the detention slips says to me "Hang on. Didn't you graduate last year?" She turned white when I told her, for the eleventy-billionth time "I'm not Jordan."

She'd been giving me his slips for two years.

// he was 40# heavier than me, lighter skin, totally different dress styles, different voice, different personality
// I did get detention a lot, though; didn't even occur to me they were someone else's
// cool story, bro

Not every non-ABA accredited law school is shiat. Law schools for working professionals typically cannot be accredited simply because they are evening/night-only. While some of these schools don't amount to much, others are taught by currently presiding judges and justices, as well as reputable attorneys from places like Harvard. Accreditation from ABA, if I understand this correctly, requires a certain sized law library, a minimum amount of full-time faculty, and a few other considerations that escape me. That being said, it's nearly impossible for night schools to be accredited, but many of them strive to achieve the same standards and demands as regular ABA programs.

I don't know much about WHT University, but I can't imagine that taking law classes online enhances one's legal education. Anyone can read a book, after all.

First two pages of google search results for Orly Taitz AIPAC turns up not one credible news source (a link to TPM references AIPAC in the comments) - just blogs upon blogs of calling her an AIPAC shill. Granted, I didn't scour every link, but no WashPo, no NYTimes, no Ha'aretz, no JPost, no al-Jazeera, no BBC, no TPM, no HuffPo, no MSNBC or Fox. Nothing even appraoching that level of "journalism".

It does beg the question: if AIPAC is so keen on those aid dollars from the US going to Israel (or even to the PAC itself), why attempt to bite the hand that feeds? If AIPAC doesn't want aid for Israel, why exist? If AIPAC wants a friendlier ally in the White House...tough shiat. What possible motive could there be for AIPAC to release their hound on Obama?

Most Jews are smarter than that (by reputation, anyway). You'd think after being told to STFU not just by the liberal activist (Bush-appointed) judges/courts, and not just the once, she'd shut her matza-hole. Also, you'd expect better proof than "my best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Eric Holder sans entourage at a coffeeshop across the street from where the hearing was held. I guess it's pretty serious."

What a friggin' trainwreck. I guess there needs to be a Jack Thompson for every possible area of legal wrangling in which there may be a camera involved.

Apik0r0s: Dr Dreidel: First two pages of google search results for Orly Taitz AIPAC turns up not one credible news source (a link to TPM references AIPAC in the comments) - just blogs upon blogs of calling her an AIPAC shill.

The only "mainstream" news source that ever (as far as I know) cited her as an "AIPAC delgate" was the Orange County Register, which has since edited that years old article. Draw your own conclusions. Thousands have been AIPAC delegates, it doesn't necessarially mean they are in the leadership or have any pull, just an interesting aside to this biatche's story.

And it's not like riling up the "base" here in America hurts the cause of the Zionist asshats in Israel, who are burning Obama in effigy and calling him Hitler.

Orly does her thing to besmirch Obama with the white Southerners, Krauthammer does his thing for the less ignorant. Combined Arms, it's all the rage.

Taitz' only remaining believers are the Palinstinians, 23%-ers and the guys who masturbate to Red Dawn and Ruby Ridge footage. Krauthammer may not be a birther, but his shtick is just as old-and-busted. He speaks more like someone who may have once had his head screwed on straight, but Orly is...the special kind of special.

You forgot the important thing from my post - why? What makes this issue the one to make a full-court-press on? What good does it do anyone's cause - Israel, the US or AIPAC? What does it help Taitz or AIPAC to scream incoherently from the treetops about the coming banana slug shortage?

PS - The Israelis burning Obama in effigy and calling him Hitler are akin to those in America doing the same thing - a loud minority with more hyperbole than brains.

What are you talking about? To judge by the news that spills over the border, Americans worship stupid, annoying people. It's like being a decent human being gets an instant spotlight moratorium slapped on you. She's doing what she thinks is best, for Israel. It's not like she's taking orders from Benji, but she is serving the cause. To dismiss her because she is nuts, and only appeals to the same, is overly simplistic. If there is anything that we should have learned by now about the "Right" and the way they operate, it is that the craziest shiat, if repeated enough, becomes fact in enough minds to make it a factor. See: half of Americans believe Saddam Hussein behind 9/11 if you have any questions.

Us Jews are 5% of the US population, yet constantly represented by 1/2% of our numbers - and when the shiat rain falls on us (again) it will fall on us all, not just the Levins, Dershowitzes, Judith Millers and Orly Taitzes. You can ask a Jew who was a good German or a good Pole in the 30s about this, if you can find one.

This has all happened before, and it will happen again. And again...

There's a fine line between free speech and actual sedition, and she's walking it - apparently, on the advice of others. If and when she crosses that line, then I'm sure we'll deal with her as a foreign agent exploiting dual citizenship to commit sedition.

I wished it worked that way. Not any more though. The new model is one where Taitz spouts nonsense, allowing Limbaugh et al to "comment" on Taitz and the issue she raises, allowing Fox News and ABC to "report" on the issue "everybody" is talking about. If it only sticks to 3%, that's fine with them.

Again, I remind you that half of Americans, at one point, believed that Iraq was behind 9/11, thanks to the mainstream media repeating (in whatever fashion, even if just to "comment" on what the nuts were saying) that line ad nauseum. It worked.

The depressing part is that you're probably right - I'd prefer to believe that enlightened self-interest would trump such stupidity, but after watching the screaming fringe become mobilized by and for the healthcare private sector to prevent a so-called "public option," I think you may very well be right.

It may have just been a "fringe" that mobilized, but their ideas are now firmly implanted in the minds of many Americans. I am amazed at the otherwise intelligent and reasonable people that I know and work with who reflexively spout the "fringe" opinion on Health Care Reform.

She's no better than the pro se plaintiff suing everyone he ever met to stop foreclosure of his mortgage and seeking a billion in damages.

waaay back when I was a lowly paralegal working in family court, we had a pro-se plaintiff who was continually filing "motions" seeking a reconsideration of a custody ruling that gave custody to his ex.

Now when I say "motions" I really mean 500 page screeds that were clearly the product of an un-medicated mind. They were long rambling non-sequitur filled documents that incorporated nearly every legal concept he'd ever heard of, read, or caught at the end of a People's Court episode.

Worse yet, he'd file these things about once or twice a week. (when he ate or slept I had no idea) It go so bad that the chief judge of the family court issued a standing order that he wasn't even allowed to file these things unless I personally (thanks Judge!) read them and found them to contain some valid prayer for relief or color-able argument of law.

Reading Orly's motions gives me flashbacks to those days, and I think, on balance his were slightly less delusional than hers.

i love that she included the citation for plessy as if she were relying on it for absolutely anything. as if the judge is going to read it and think "well she just called me a jim crow racist, but she included a citation so i'll let it slide."

What's funny is her cases are all pulled straight out of the ConLaw casebook, almost in order (I'm just doing my 1st semester of ConLaw). The sequence of Bush v. Gore, Clinton v. Jones, US v. Nixon are right there in the basic ConLaw text...it's like she has no idea what she's talking about but she figures "Cites are important! I'll put in some cites!"

I sincerely believe that her interactions with Phillip berg (the orginal "birther" lawyer) prove that she's a con woman intent on bilking gullible freepers out of "contributions" by casting herself as Joan of Arc on a holy crusade to unseat the evil one. (to their credit, even most freepers have twigged and Freep discussions about her have about the same ratio of attackers to dfenders as Fark ones)

I blieve this explains her crazy look and and the crazy verbiage she uses in her motions and speeches. She basically looks and sounds like Zombie Tammy Faye Baker because she's basically trying to shake cash loose from the same gullible fools who ponied up for Heritage USA.

Olive complexion? Greenish skin or dark black? I have never seen a person with green skin outside of Star Trek.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Orly's demand tantamount to accusing Judge Land of conspiracy to obstruct justice? I would think that accusing a judge of a crime would be quite serious...

Obama is 6'1". Bill Clinton is 6'0".

Apparently, so is Janet Reno.

She's a dentist AND a lawyer -- honest to God, who would go to this woman in either capacity?

This is one woman whose fingers I do NOT want in my mouth.

Hasn't she lost a shiatload of malpractice cases? I'm guessing only the meth addicts go to see her now.

Halli,

That's true, I've looked at the county records and found at least 8 cases filed against her for medical/dental malpractice, all of which she defended herself in her capacity as an attorney.

But here's the rub, did she lose those cases because:

A. She's a bad dentist?

B. She's a bad lawyer?

C. Both of the above?

I say C.

Wasn't there something about her not even having a degree in dentistry in the first place?

No thanks...imho Taitz makes even Beck look nearly reasonable, not to mention she's a complete insult to those who enter the legal profession to do some good. And believe it or not those people do exist.
