Good question, but at least the Simpsons haven't already done it.

I did see the one where sombody responding to a call got T-boned at an intersection. The first time, when you don't see that coming, is a serious rush.

Hmmm, will they show this... will Fox do the tasteful thing and not show it... hmmmm...

/probably depends on if the crew member dies
//no it doesn't

Why not? Cheap original programing for a night that is known for not having a lot of viewers.

I don't understand how this show has filmed for the four bajillion years it's been on without losing at least several of its camera crews in the process.

I love this show. It's the only reality tv show that's actually real. Plus the mullets are always awesome.

if they are still filming this, why dont I ge anything but reruns?

Yes, but only in the PNW

DaWormyPimpsta: They're still filming this show?

God, I hope so. This used to be the highlight of my overnight crew's 4AM break. My favorite moment was when one of my guys from Ghana remarked to one of my Columbians (during the 53' trailer "breakdown" sting), "Ah! Oh la la! Negritos!" That broke up the whole room.

I can't watch that show because cops freak me out so much.

In other news, Cops is being filmed in Portland right now. This is a chance to be famous!

i always thing this show tries to give the rest of the US a good picture of what it means to live in GA

/Laurens county, GA: A man and his brother have a taken local prostitute hostage in the back of their stolen RV intent on driving to Las Vegas to see if a preacher on the strip will marry the three of them. Little did they know they were gambling with their lives.

It doesn't sound like you're channeling COPS, it sounds more like "World's Most....." "World's Wildest" etc

Yep. A cruiser with the camera in it T-boned/was T-boned by another cruiser. Some of the finest TV my eyes have ever seen.

There was an episode of COPS years ago where two police cars responding to the same call collided. The car carrying the officers & COPS crew was driving through an intersection when another police car coming from the right T-boned them.

From COPS: Too Hot To Handle, about 8:15 in. Some NSFW content.

...right after the morning briefing where the watch commander asked them please not to wreck any more cars because three of them were in the shop, IIRC. Brought a tear to my eye. Still does, because I first saw that episode not too long after one of my guys wrecked one of our brand-new Crown Vics on a rainy day running to a call after I told him to stand down. Guys in uniform are the worst drivers on the planet.

Original? How many times can you watch a toothless redneck in a wifebeater, if he has a shirt on at all, try to hide under one of those crappy plastic pools before it starts to get old?

Watch a current episode of cops and then an episode from 15-20 years ago. Notice how things have changed...

I caught part of a re-run a week or two ago. Cruisers were square back caprices to give an idea of when it was filmed. This drunk guy gets attacked in a park so he goes home and gets his shotgun and goes back looking for the guys that attacked him.

The cops are in this guy's living room... there are guns (mostly antique) and knives all over the place and the cops perfectly calm. The guy is just sitting on his couch. They are talking about what happened and his guns.... calmly. like regular people.

What happens? drunk guy is taken to the drunk tank. Guns are given to a neighbor for safe-keeping.

Now think how this would go today.

Another old episode I saw... cop has this guy pulled over when a drunk driver clips the police cruiser and crashes into the back of the pick-up that's pulled over. The officer walks calmly back to the drunk's vehicle and asks him he's ok. He is. She then has him get out of the vehicle and calmly arrests him. No raising of voice, nothing but rational, calm, professional behavior.

The then and now difference is really amazing. It just shows how slow the frog is being brought to a boil.

I was trying to find video of the episode of COPS where the guy tries to hide under the pool, and in the process I found this picture: www.ferretpress.com

and a search for Kiddie Pool Explosion brings this:
inashoe.com

Please don't search for Kiddie Pool Explosion with Safesearch off. I don't trust it.

Yeah, I'm a CJ student in Mass. One of our profs. (who's also a cop) told us that it's state law here that all emergency vehicles must fully stop for two seconds at every stop sign and red light, even when responding to a call code three. You could hear the reluctance in his voice. (Mentally I was calling bullshiat on actual practice of said law.)
