"In arranging jackpots for Langford, (the Macon County Greyhound Park) eliminated the principal requisite of bingo -- that it be a game of chance producing winners .¤.¤. holding bingo cards with pre-ordained numbers matched against randomly drawn or generated numbers," the suit says.

He was lucky. No reason to say anything more. Some people are just lucky.

Bevets: He was lucky. No reason to say anything more. Some people are just lucky.

What? It's possible, but the people being charged here have done the same thing in the past they're being excused of now.

Langford has been both praised and criticized for the degree to which his Christian faith informs his political agenda. He holds Bible studies for municipal workers at City Hall each week and is a frequent speaker at public prayer services and at Church events.
On April 22, 2008 Langford issued a proclamation on city letterhead proclaiming the following Friday to be "It's Time to Pray" in the City of Birmingham.

Oh, I see.

People of Fark...

Only the dumb ones get caught. So keep on believing that 'your vote counts!' And waste hours arguing with anyone who thinks differently than you do. Attend a RALLY!!!! Hold up a sign to tell those bastards what you really think!

Then, go back home and maybe someday you'll realize that fighting a fight that can't be won is a piss poor way to spend your life.

"Once, Again" is the Mayor's name.

Great... the mayor is winning 50K, meanwhile, i can't afford NyQuil, because the floggin' liquor store ran a $10 charge at $100, and my bank is rehecting the $90 credit they ran when i called them on it.

I feel like Jon Bennet...

Am I the first one from B'ham to post?

LL, as we like to call him, is the reason the National Guard almost had to take over the city the other month because the police department was bankrupt from crooked deals. Jefferson County just had the largest government bankruptcy in history.

He got elected because his sister got killed in that 6 little girl church bombing back in the 60's and he has been using that guilt to rob the state blind.

The more you know.

LaLa, as Mayor Larry Langford is know here, just happened to "win" the $50k days after he was decreed indigent and a government paid lawyer assigned to represent him in his upcoming corruption trial. This is the "indigent" LaLa who owns multiple Rolex watches, runs huge tabs in expensive clothing stores in Birmingham and New York, owns a Corvette and an Escalade (money can't buy taste, apparently) and then has the nerve to tell parents that their kids are too wrapped up in labels on their clothes and shoes. Oh, and he closed down city hall last week to have it professionally sanitized after one city employee came down with the flu.

Birmingham voters might be forgiven for electing LaLa, except for the fact that he had a well known record of FAIL in a smaller suburb of Birmingham where he was mayor, and also as a commissioner and later Jefferson County Commission President (Birmingham is in JeffCo) where he had a large part in leading the county into what will soon and inevitably be the country's largest municipal bankruptcy, dwarfing by a large margin Orange County, CA.

LaLa can't go to trial and be convicted fast enough.

Just to pile on, Langford is also hell bent on building a domed stadium for Birmingham despite its lack of a major professional sports team. He wants to bring the Summer Olympic games to Birmingham (never going to happen). He wanted to construct an inter-coastal waterway from Mobile to Birmingham (approximately 250 miles) so cruise ships could dock in the city. And most recently, after a Birmingham city council member said that believing in Langford's budget would be equivalent to believing in unicorns, Langford sent ceramic unicorns to all of the city council members as a "symbol of solidarity."

What's worse, is Langford has DEEP DEEP dealings with these gambling establishments. His proposed primart site for the domed stadium is one of Birmingham's more notoriously failing dog tracks (that he helped establish).

Here's some of his testimony from the Federal racket he's up against with more good stuff. (new window)

I am a tad ashamed to live here as well, having moved from already Farked up Cali to Alabama.

I haven't read the entire actictle but it does mention previous bad behaviour ..."Langford has denied the charges. Blount and LaPierre have pleaded guilty and agreed to testify against Langford. "

Dont you hate it when you plead not guilty and your co-accused plead guilty ? That's gotta suck. I know that was referring to a previous incident but doesn't that whole 'I plead innocent by my co-accused plead guilty' thing just make the prosecution smile just a little bit

I'm impressed you got "Scandal", nobody remembers that band. I've gotten into arguments that consisted of "Bowowow (sometimes Thompson Twins or even T'Pau) did 'The Warrior'."

I'll post tomorrow if nobody get's it, but if I give even one of the top row it becomes pretty obvious.

Last two (bottom row) should be obvious too.

If a Fark party is to be had here, it needs to NOT be in Jefferson County :)

Somewhere like Hogan's or Fox'n'Hound (none of the South Side / Five Points crap).

While your post is right in a general sense, it is quite wrong in a couple of major areas. Jefferson county hasn't filed for bankruptcy protection(yet - probably just a matter of time) and the National Guard was going to possibly be used to cover for the Jeffco sheriff's office, not the Birmingham PD.

LaLa's on his way to federal PMITA prison. Then again, considering some of his friends PMITA might be right up his alley.

This is pure racism, just because the man is black they automatically assume there is criminal intent involved. The man is quite clearly lucky and the attacks on African-American elected officials have been precipitated by the right because of the threat of a government offered bingo option.
