Aye, captain! An EGO core breach is imminent! If we don't jettison it right away, we'll all be blown from here to Something Awful!

Hey Mofroe, I'll work for you! It's all I do all day anyways... you do allow bourbon at work, right?

Shawn Langlois has officially hit the low point of his journalistic career. Unless he's next going to quote conversations that he overheard at the auto parts store.

Macker: Can you say "slow news day"?
well, a girl missing for 9 months was found alive. I guess thats slow news in your book.

Actually that makes for a very dull news day. If she was found bound, gagged and with her intestines partially eaten however...

Bizarre. This could be a whole new journalistic field, supported by glossy magazines selling Budweiser and Bacardi to the nerd masses: chat room reporting.

2003-03-12 09:42:27 PM
the guy was just trying to explain why fark kept showing up in his computer's history, claimed it was research.

Or some Valium. Anyone got any Valium?

And I bet you could still tie up the courts for a couple months with a lawsuit over it.

Judasdiomedes: They kind of already have that with CNN's Talk Back Live. They never air my comments though.

It's kind of wierd to see usernames quoted as the speaker. Having said that, yes I realize it's easier to use them instead of hunting down real names, but still.

It can't wait until someone called something like "KingBonerMan69" gets quoted by a reputable news service.

Pardon me for being so cliche' but, HAH HAH!

sounds like Shawn Langlois, CBS.MarketWatch.com spent all day reading fark, then remembered he had an article to write for CBS, priceless

So its only like 2 more stops before we are "THE" news source?

good point. Her abductor did kidnap her for a future wife (update since last article). Is that wacky news worthy? He had several wives. crazy mormans..

Anti_Freak_Machine, I saw your original post. It was quite eloquent. Pleased that you would repeat it here again.

Too funny.

Man I wish I'd gotten in on the original thread. Hell, more people are going to get their news from Fark in the near future than the Clinton News Network (CNN) at this rate.
I just wonder if someone actually gets paid to read Fark all day, or if they're lurking around at their desk and happen to fall on something. I want that job.

Maybe even more than the Anti-Clinton networks, Fox and MSNBC.

I pretty much have that job. Ha ha!

2003-03-12 09:55:04 PM
Anyone find it odd that the user names are in bold? Sure that's common here, but it sure isn't text book type formating.

some people do. Its called unemployment.

i always thought being paid to do something is employment.

I seem to remember reading recently that Fark gets roughly half a million unique visitors a day now. When you consider that there are only about 80,000 registered screen names to 12 or 13 Farkers we have a lot of guests. Give it up folks this is a zoo, and we are the monkeys in the cage pooping on ourselves for the entertainment of the crowd. That being said Fark shall rule the world!

2003-03-12 09:58:45 PM
This is not the first time that a CBS MarketWatch article has quoted Farkers. And not the first time that such an article was posted to Fark.

2003-03-12 10:01:34 PM
viva la fark

2003-03-12 10:02:41 PM
Now if all the radio shows would own up to ripping off Fark.

2003-03-12 10:03:11 PM
Maybe I can get quoted here:
"I download donkey porn. It turns me on. I love big black meat inside a tiny roll."

Quote away............
Oh, and I actually like rabbits. They like lots of action.

Reporting Fark feedback - wow - today is indeed a sad day for journalism.

Ouch my ass

SBB girls are getting hotter...

How many of you Farkers out there type with one hand?

2003-03-12 10:08:26 PM
Aquigley - They put a lot of fun new filters on fark, to block old Farkisms that they got sick of.

My name is one of them.

2003-03-12 10:09:37 PM
Should be I find this link d!ff!cult to m@sterb@te too. Stupid blocking shiate

2003-03-12 10:11:17 PM
it's not like this is the first time this has happened. Or the 2nd. Or 10th....heck I've lost count. But fark quotes do seem to make it into the "mainstream" press pretty often

2003-03-12 10:11:34 PM
I guess it beats having to actually write a story.

SFOTW, testify, brother! Much as I love Bob and Tom's radio show, IMHO they could only benefit from owning up to how much inspiration they derive from FARK. Bob, Tom, Christi, Gunnar, Mike/Mark, guest comedians, etc. you know who the FARK you are. Hell, folks, fake it if you have to! FARK is a force to be reckoned with!

2003-03-12 10:13:33 PM
So can I get a job as a journalist if I start writing articles made almost entirely of Fark quotes?

2003-03-12 10:13:39 PM
This is not the first time that a CBS MarketWatch article has quoted Farkers. And not the first time that such an article was posted to Fark.

way to be a wet blanket Kolacky, you're ruining my concentration ;P

Maybe they can make a lazer from space that can scratch your butt....that would be cool

2003-03-12 10:17:26 PM
I'm actually disturbed that people are listening to what we say as news, all we do is bicker, and make fun of shiat.

2003-03-12 10:18:25 PM
This makes me proud to be part of the "peanut gallery" Maybe I should get that Total Fark account now and become an elitist.

2003-03-12 10:19:08 PM
Yea but i bet alot of the visitors are dumb like me it took me almost a month to figure out this fark comment thingee and just yesterday how to view results on photoshop contests.

2003-03-12 10:19:33 PM
One of the cool things about fark is that when news breaks, we have some fairly intelligent folks commenting on it. Of course you have to wade through a lot of the normal crap from the 14 year olds to get to it. (Yes, I know some of you 14 year olds are several years older physically.)

2003-03-12 10:21:48 PM
so do the people mentioned get any royalties or anything? i mean cmon!

2003-03-12 10:23:23 PM
Any guesses which thread I didn't contribute to today?

Ok, alot of them, but I didn't read this INTeL article or the thread, apparently I missed my chance to be more famous than I already am.

2003-03-12 10:24:58 PM
I about spit coke out my nose the first time I read "What a coincidence, my coke dealer's name is Centrino." You know what? It was just as funny the second time around.

I wonder what Drew's thoughts are on CBS mentioning Fark. Either he is very happy or bandwidth cost are going to kill him.

2003-03-12 10:26:44 PM
Got Fark?
