f they changed the word, "God" [can I still print that??] to Allah and "Christ Jesus" to "Mohammad", there would be no complaints. The anti-Christians in the crowd are afraid of scimitars in the night if they complain about Muslims...and remain silent. Cowards all.
"That...that man" is Dear Leader, indeed.

Clueless and... priceless

I'm beginning to think the whole "pro-Bible" crap is becoming more and more a bastion of those who are both self-righteous and uncreative. There are plenty of ways to express just about any sentiment without using religious text, particularly for a sports event. Something like this is too obviously an attempt to rile up some attention.

An area outside the stadium has been designated so the signs can be used there, she said.

I assume school resources will not be used to make these signs?

"If it's offensive to anyone, let them go watch another football game," he said. "Nobody's forced to come there and nobody's forced to read the signs."

True. Judging from the article and comments, it would be very difficult to even find a person who could read the sign.

JESUS DREW DEM SQUIGGLES!

Nothing like cheapening your religious texts by applying its message to a farking football game.

I'm sure they'd have been fine with it if the texts were from the Quran or the Book of Mormon. Right? If not, they could always go cheer at another football game.

Same old story: Some snowflake atheist get's his panties in a wad because a school want's to intimidate!Infarkingtimidate! his ass with religious text in a public setting. OMFG! will be the next outlawed text that gets killed by the turd herders and their ilk. Good luck with changing laws and denying America's Christian Puritan beginnings and culture. I mean we came here to found one nation under God but, Oh noes some cocksucking homo gets a stick poked up his ass and loses his shiat, then files another meaningless lawsuit vis a vis Madelyn Murray O'Hare. I can't wait till the Hispanic and largely Catholics, burn his ass at the stake and the Mighty Poop congratulates them for ridding the world of a Demon. You Go Amigos! DNRTFA!

/As some of you know, I'm drunk by now. See you at 5:00 AM with a new and unhindered, moderate viewpoint.

"If it's offensive to anyone, let them go watch another football game," he said. "Nobody's forced to come there and nobody's forced to read the signs."

No, the broke-ass and/or cheap parents can pay for tuition at a private, religious school if they want to do this. Then they can hang any of these signs they want. Until then, they get to realize they are in a public school and don't get to do shiat like this.

I couldn't care less if someone wants to hang some signs with religious quotes. Though I do wonder how they would feel if someone hung up some Satanist quotes.

Give me a break Weaver, this is on school property. And not to convolute the discussion, but you know as well as I do that high-school kids don't have 1st amendment rights of any kind. Otherwise they wouldn't be sent home for wearing Marilyn Manson, Slayer or some beer advertisement t-shirt.

Maybe sports fans should just start showing up with signs that have statistics and percentages on them.

"It wasn't God! He just runs the 3rd best 2-minute drill in the league per efficiency ratings!"

I think it would be fun to hang up signs with quotes from the Jedi, quotes from the Profits in Halo, or other sci-fi and/or fantasy religions.

The cheerleaders are part of the school at a school sponsored event, the fans in the stands are a different story.

Plus I bet they are all fatties

"I regret that we had to ask the LFO cheerleaders to change the signs used in the stadium prior to football games," Mrs. Reese states. "Personally, I appreciate this expression of their Christian values; however, as superintendent I have the responsibility of protecting the school district from legal action by groups who do not support their beliefs."

Thanks a lot Lady Southern Tennessee woman. Are you French, Queer, Muslim, or a Yankee. Que? I suspect you are going to lose in the next school board election. Keep pushing the agenda.

In what world is "urging fans and players to "commit to the Lord"' not "trying to push a religious cause"?

Oh why even bother, these are the morons who think God really did intervene to help them their team win.

It's better if you think of it not as Gold helping a team to win, but God causing a team to lose.

Well, you gotta admit that comments to TFA bring the lulz:

"Just wait everyone. If our "Dear Leader" (as I've seen it stated on this site so many times) has it his way, we will all be ceremoniously praying 5 times a day before his term ends. At least for now we can still pray to our own Lord."

I think that pretty much answers the usual "but what if it was prayers to another religion?" angle.

Still, the coach is right in his interpretation that the football players are free to pray in their huddle as long as no school officials are involved. I can imagine a fine line where maybe religious posters by cheerleaders are okay (if similarly no school officials are involved) but I suppose the overt proselytizing of the message is the problem?

With graduation speeches (by students, not any school people) they can thank god for their success if they want, but they can't say "and so YOU TOO should look to God" or the like, after all.

Some of those could be pretty good...

"You will not know where we have struck until you have fallen."

"Our conviction is like an arrow already in flight. Your life will only last until it reaches you."

"You live without discipline and will die without honor."

and, of course, the ever famous...

"Your destruction is the will of the gods. We are their instrument."

If you click on Megain's picture you get their names. Now what kind of terrorist name is this there Maiya Ahktab? seems like one of them there Muslim names to me. do these other cheerleaders know there is a possible terrorist on their squad?
