Every politician who votes for these laws should be required to take a sex offender into his own home. If that would be illegal because the house is too close to a school, playground, or another house, the politician must move to a place where sex offenders are allowed to live.

Are these big bad sex offenders (real sexual assault minors ect)
or peeing in public or being 18-19 with a 17 year old Girl friend?

I wonder how many legislators have considered what it means for all these sex offenders to be forced into giving false information, or to disappear from sight altogether?

But as soon as they establish a forest community of pedo's they'll rabble and insist it be disbanded, burned, and they go elsewhere.

These people should either be in prison for life or shackled to a tether in a halfway house so they can't get away. No one wants them in society.... They need to be monitored 24/7 as they cannot control themselves well enough.

And I'm referring to real sex offenders.... the type that attack little children. Because I'm sure the first troll will be here soon with the "18-year-old having sex with a 16-year-old" theory.

They better ban the ingredients for gingerbread within 2 miles of that place. Or only allow it in 2 oz increments that you have to sign for.

Ugh. Reminds me of the story a few months back about sex offenders in Miami living under a causeway.

Can we just avoid this nonsense and either: a) get rid of the residence laws, or b) make all sex offenses life-without-parole?

2009-09-28 11:10:28 AM
It has been mentioned before, but it is worth repeating........People who are convicted of sex crimes (Rapes, sexual assualt) have the 2nd lowest rate of recidivism (murder was the lowest). And this fact was determined before the US went all mental with the sex offender registry crap.

I blame douchebags like Chris Hansen for freaking people out.

Convicted sex offenders living in the woods? And they say Hollywood is out of ideas... Dude, these movies write themselves. Watch:

Tom Hanks is Detective Bighead, a tough street cop only a week away from retirement. He's called to the scene of a crime - four clowns are brutally murdered in their tiny car. His investigation leaves him to a strange world of decadence and plywood.

Deep in the forrests of Georgia, he finds a community of rapists, child touchers and flashers living an existance outside of the law-abiding folk.

Hanks has to blend in to the mysterious world to try to find out who, or what, would commit these crimes. Is it the community leader Mr Assgrabby? Or perhaps the treasurer Bob McBobinstein?

This movie will keep you on the edge of your seat and will get you asking, "Are there really sex-offenders living in the woods who kill clowns?"

Coming to a theater near you.

You wanna know what I think? I think you're some kind of deviated prevert. I think the State of Georgia found out about your preversion, and that you were organizing some kind of mutiny of preverts.

Doesn't really matter, if its peeing in public sex offender its tragic. If its the bad sex offender its tragic because this actually provides more chance the offender will re-offend in some way to get a cozy cell in jail.

There is an on-line registry that we can use to locate the nearest 'predator.' Sure enough, there's a couple listed nearby. Funny thing, the address listed has since been developed, and is now a parking lot. Way to stay current, State.

OTOH, trying to determine exactly what these 'pervs' have been convicted of is an exercise in futility. I can't tell if any of them is pedobear approved, or guilty of being a high school success. And, keep in mind that most child abuse, sexual or not, is perpetrated by people known to and trusted by the child and/or parents.

Bottom line: this is why Georgia is so close to Florida. Pretty soon, we will have our own tag.

2009-09-28 11:19:20 AM
Isn't there a similar 'camp' in Florida, under a bridge or highway overpass where they all have to live because the law says they can't live within 'x' yards of a school or church?

These laws are ridiculous.

2009-09-28 11:20:38 AM
Is it possible to decline probation? Weighed against these kinds of restrictions, three meals a day and proper medical care, even locked in a cage, sounds pretty appealing.

In Chattanooga, there is a huge population of sex offenders living in two hotels, that are next to each other. It is two of the few areas that meets all the requirements and doesn't preform a background check.

The idea behind the law was good. Ideally, it warns parents so they can be sure to monitor their children when they live in proximately to a sex offender. The problem is the definition of "sex offender" is too broad. The 18 year old who got caught pissing behind a bar or mooning his adult friends does not pose the same, if any risk, as a pedophile.

tukatz: And I'm referring to real sex offenders.... the type that attack little children.

Most "sex offenders" are your average, run-of-the-mill rapists. It could be argued that they're no more dangerous to children than any other criminally deviant personality, though I have no data to back that up. The convicted pedos are few and far between, though most of the laws have been designed with them in mind.

Beneath the trees where nobody sees they hide and seek as long as they please and that's the way that pedophiles have their dicks licked.

If you're desperate, you can kill and eat your parole officer.

If you've done the time, not only will you do the time, you will continue to do it in perpetuity.

In all fairness the churches don't want competition in the molesting business.

What about like in the movie "Battle Royale". We work out a grid system and every week or two announce that zone "A-3" is now an instant death zone, and their pedo-collars will explode.

Doesn't really sound that much more retarded than the current system.

2009-09-28 11:35:27 AM
Right, because that's what Georgians need, having a sex offender living in the woods nearby homes and dragging their kids out there.

And yet ANOTHER reason why I'm glad to be out of that state!

Indeed. What they really need is a home and monthly utilities supplied to them on Tax Payer Joe's dime.

I wasn't a child when I was the victim of a very REAL sex offender. As much as I hate child molesters, I resent your comment that a perpetrator has to injure a child to be a REAL sex offender.

2009-09-28 11:46:27 AM
i'm in favor of an idea to publicly release all sex offenders from prison into a town square-type event with everyone in the town who cares being expected to show up. you can bring one baseball bat per person in attendance.

the sex offenders will have their full charges read aloud to the crowd. the offender then gets to speak and offer any details tha he deems relevant, or a simple plea for mercy if he thinks that's his only chance. afterwards, he has to walk through the crowd to a bus 200ft away. if the crowd thinks that the 19 year old who went to prison for farking his 16 year old girlfriend is cool, they let him walk. if not, well, that really, really sucks. sorry dude. HOWEVER... whenever mr. pedobelly with the sketchvan walks down the aisle after having his conviction read for molesting a couple kids under 10, he gets pummelled to death with baseball bats. if you make it to the bus, you're cool. debt to society is paid. that way, everything is left up to the community in which you live.

it's not a perfect system, sure, but neither is branding someone with an indecent exposure charge for pissing in some bushes a full-on sex offender either. i mean, i don't know about anybody else, but if i'm going to have to be permanently listed as a sex offender without having ever commited a real sexual offense, i'd probably just say fark it and go for broke and get my rapeface on.

Wait till one of the forest dwellers attacks a kid and the locals show up with torches and pitchforks.

Are we SURE we are not going backwards?
