Yeah, well...They said the same thing when Scott McClellan and Tom Ridge wrote THEIR books.

See, the thing is, former members of the Bush administration? THEY'RE FULL OF $#!+. They've always BEEN full of $#!+, and they'll always BE full of $#!+. It's sort of their defining characteristic.

2009-09-18 10:14:26 AM
They protest too much.

Typical Bush staffer...can't even put his foot in his mouth right.

Wait. What house are you saying we were in? A white house? The White House? Odd. I don't remember a white house. Where was this, you say? Washington? Washington DC? Hm. That's not ringing a bell. It's the capital? The capital of the United States? A white house in the capital of the United States. I'm really sorry, but it's just coming back to me. Maybe if you had a picture or something, that might jog my memory a bit. No, no. Gee, that's not helping at all. It's a nice looking building, I'm sure I'd remember being there. White house. Hm. The White House. Yeah, sorry I can't help you. Hope you find the guy.

Damn... we should really consider voting this "Bush" fellow out of office.

Oh, wait...

MaxxLarge: Scott McClellan and Tom Ridge wrote THEIR books.

Paul O'Neill too. Who was he again? Secretary of the Treasury? Pffft. What a nobody!

2009-09-18 10:34:36 AM
They paint a picture of the guy as the average joe so he could be electable, then when someone releases a book showing just how (below) average the guy is, they want to change it up a bit.

Sorry, but Latimer's got more credibility on this. It's obvious that Bush is a "good ol boy" so the excerpts I've seen look pretty convincing.

LOL that's the only thing they can come up with? 'Who was that guy?'

2009-09-18 10:37:54 AM
Well, those officials were obviously not in the loop.

2009-09-18 10:40:03 AM
now to be fair some of their criticisms are pretty damning

"His access was episodic. Look, his office was not in the West Wing and he was a junior or mid-level staffer over in the Executive Office Building so he would occasionally be in big group meetings. He wasn't someone who had regular access to the president," Fratto said. "He has a reference in there to an over-caffeinated Karl Rove. Well, Karl famously doesn't drink caffeinated drinks. Everyone in the White House knew that."

he absolutely right, a careful observer should easily be able to tell the difference between a guy whose had too much coffee and one who has been tooting crank non-stop of 72 hours...

I think GOP members would be great athletes. They dodge, they evade, they twist, they punt, they backtrack . . . Too bad they can't ever seem to score. Oh well.

2009-09-18 10:42:09 AM
Didn't the West Wing have an episode on this where some low level staffer wrote a "tell-all" and the senior staff kept asking "who WAS that guy?"

2009-09-18 10:42:16 AM
Why did she have to go and make it so complicated?

The Bush administration isn't known for recruiting people with great memories, subby.

Also, fta "Are we surprised that a former White House staffer sold out his friends and colleagues for a few pieces of silver and what passes for fame these days in Washington, D.C.?" he asked. "No."

Considering the fact that the Bush administration sold out the American people for a mountain of gold, it seems that his training is complete.

Who knew who Sarah Palin was when McCain picked her besides Alaskans? I don't doubt Bush didn't know her, are Presidents supposed to be able to name all 50 governors?

2009-09-18 10:57:35 AM
Perino similarly viewed Latimer's motives with disdain.

"I'm not saying that he never saw the president because he obviously did, I mean he had his group photo. But he certainly wasn't a confidant," she said. "He's a young man who was given the opportunity of a lifetime to advance his career, and for some reason he felt it was appropriate to demean the people who gave him that opportunity."

He admitted he was sold on the ideas of conservatism, moved by patriotism and had hopes that the Republicans were moving towards a better America.

What he found was the typical, "what can I get out of it", politician mentality. Fark everyone else.

I'm not sure a idealist would be so sorry about losing the advice of people like that.

stuhayes2010: Who knew who Sarah Palin was when McCain picked her besides Alaskans? I don't doubt Bush didn't know her, are Presidents supposed to be able to name all 50 governors?

See what I get out the Bush quotes I have seen about Palin is not that he didn't know who she was. He know exactly who she was, a nobody (politically speaking) from Guam, Butt-Fark Egypt or Alaska.

It's farking amazin' innit? The same people that fanaticially supperted him and called us traitors for not doing so WHILE he was in office can't WAIT to distance themselves from him the minute he's gone and it becomes clear what a steaming pile of FAIL he left behind. I haven't RTFB, but the quotes I've seen from it imply that Bush was quite politically savvy. He knew exactly who Palin was, and he also knew what a Presidential campaign would do to her.

On the scale of biggest liars, I think Bush topples all competition. So I'll go with this guy over bush jr. But that being said, I don't think his book will sell much because he's not revealing anything that the public doesn't already know or suspect.

Overall the book sounds just like another footnote on how incredibly ignorant and stupid Bush Jr. was which is just another reminder of how ignorantly stupid a great portion of the American population are also.

I've noticed a pattern:

-GOP gets into power.
-Conservatives: "SUCK IT LIBS! With us or against us!"
-GOP enacts conservative policy.
-Conservatives: "God's own country! Bestestest President/Senator/Rep EVER! Reagan would be proud!"
-GOP policies predictably fail on an epic scale.
-Conservatives: "RINO! Closet lib! If he was a real conservative Jesus would have come back!"
-Dems get into power and try to fix shiat.
-Conservatives: "YOUR GUY SUCKS! Our guy sucked less even though he was a RINO! Let's elect someone even more conservative than the last guy to solve the problems caused by rampant conservatism!"

Happened with Clinton, happening now with Obama.

Oh you just wait! The "manufactured" unhappiness with Obama is going to culminate in the nut-bag right blissfully wanting to return to the simple times, when a swaggering dildo with a fake southern accent could pacify all their fears.

Who didn't see that coming? Freepers are hilarious in their epic fail when it comes to being logical rational thinkers. Everything is impulsive and a "gut" reaction instead of thinking everythign to the end. Granted this also affects people all over the political spectrum but they seem to be more prone to it.

Utterly farking amazing, the entire Bush clan is retroactively damned as evil socialists unto the 5th generation. can you imagine the kind of names these very same people would have called me or you if WE'd said that about bush even a year or two ago?

I suspect this may be the actual reason. It's making the occasional right-wing Farker who calls Weaver95 a leftist, when Weav says something mildly critical about teabaggers or similar, look sagacious in comparison.
