Someone got the number for Franks Pizza of Winnipeg? They should get a few calls or a few dozen fake x-large with everything pizza orders.

2003-03-10 01:27:50 PM
Google for pizza
Now I know I can't post numbers outright, but can I post a link to google?

2003-03-10 04:34:23 PM
I wrote a bunch about this in another "pizza" thread. I'm too lazy to type it all again, so here's one bit:

Would you want to work there, (knowing the value they place on helping people in need)?

2003-03-10 06:53:45 PM
This reeks of an Urban Legend. I don't know....I know people in general can be asshats, but.......FIRE her?

Proving once again that no good deed goes unpunished.

Firing someone over this AND admitting it to the press.

Doesn't Winnipeg have the highest murder rate in Canada?

2003-03-10 09:37:34 PM
Who let the gun into Canada?

5 cents says it was a refugee from North Dakota ...

2003-03-10 09:37:51 PM
Winnipeg is 40 kM. from Selkirk; I spoke to 4 people from Selkirk today and none of them are going to let pizza man forget this.

2003-03-10 09:39:04 PM
mmmm lawsuit

2003-03-10 09:41:14 PM
This is Canada. I don't think "lawsuit" is the first thing to come to someone's mind when something bad happens to them. Well not to me, anyways.

Not posting personal information, but if I wanted to call Frank's, I'd probably check here

well, that would look good while she's working on getting a different job.

2003-03-10 09:42:31 PM
this week's forecast ... 95% chance that pizza place goes out of business within 2 months

what a farkign cocksucker ... clearly he was looking for any reason to get rid of her

2003-03-10 09:42:50 PM
I ugh that pisses me off...just because you make a low wage, bosses can get away with treating you like shiat. They can throw you out and replace you in a heartbeat...they know that, you know that, and they will be happy to remind you in case you forget.

2003-03-10 09:43:17 PM
If I wanted to call Franks, I'd use that previous post, or click here...

Its easier than having to scroll down the list.

2003-03-10 09:47:43 PM
i've delivered pizza for the past 2 years, and i don't know of any customer that would be mad about getting a late pizza if this was the reasoning. how is it a "threat to business"?

btw, has anyone called them yet to harass?

2003-03-10 09:48:10 PM
There's got to be another pizza place in that town. Everyone in town should just decide to eat there instead.

2003-03-10 09:54:12 PM
First, I agree that, if this is true, this guy's an asshat and some form of "embargo" is in order. But, before we start taking action, shouldn't we at least make sure this is in fact truth and not urban legend or a fabricated excuse? It'd be pretty damn embarassing if we found out this was indeed fabricated...

2003-03-10 09:54:36 PM
i'll call that number tommorow with a howard stern soundboard or sgt.hartman one.

2003-03-10 09:55:36 PM
Let's hope Franks has a miserable couple of months of abuse until they go bankrupt. Only to show that if no good deed goes unpunished, then wicked asshats need to be banished from society.

Then they fire her, later suing her for lost profit.

Wow, what an assjack. He takes the cake, as ASSJACK OF THE DAY. If anyone can find a picture of him, we should have some photoshop fun. Unbelieveable assjack. He is a jacker of ass.

Okay, it's out of my system.

assjack.

"McAulay's still trying to deal with the trauma of the violent incident and will start looking for work in the next few weeks."
Ok, now I know that had to be some scary shiat but if she relied on that job like she said I highly doubt she would wait a few weeks before looking for a new one.
Oh yeah, BIG lawsuit on the way, that is, if she is smart enough.
But I still don't know why she felt the need to drive all the way over there just because her daughter called her when there are people called police and EMTs.

2003-03-10 09:57:50 PM
He'll get his, that place will be out of business in no time. I doubt that he can turn that PR mess around, even if he tries he'll just look like he's responding to the outrage, people will still know how he really thinks and hopefully refuse to patronize that subhuman.

2003-03-10 09:59:39 PM
she was fired for being away from her job, yet it was okay to have a friend and passenger in the car while she was making deliveries? and driving around waiting for a delivery call is okay? i thought once the pizza was delivered, the driver goes back to the restuarant and waits for the next delivery order. if this is indeed a true story, the boss had some farked up reasoning on what was okay and not okay to do.

2003-03-10 10:02:33 PM
It's nice that she tried to help and all... but if it was YOUR cold pizza.....

/scarcasm

2003-03-10 10:03:19 PM
the boss prolly didnt know she drove around with people... that may have been a reason for firing her.. not that i agree with him in the least, cuz he is an asshat for this

Franks Pizza Phone: (204)482-7922

Avixxen2, most pizza places (or at least independent places) are really lax on rules for their deliverers. as long as they get the deliveries done on time and give the business their part of the profits, then they don't care what ya do. i've had friends hang out wit me for hours while delivering. it's good times for sure.

2003-03-10 10:05:26 PM
the manager was an idiot, if there was some other reason for firing the employee, he certainly chose from the wrong column.

2003-03-10 10:07:07 PM
Submitted this morning with a better title. Bah!

2003-03-10 10:07:10 PM
FormlessOne, it's a true story. I just listened to an interview with her on the CBC radio. And Avixxen2, she mentioned that she wasn't supposed to have passengers in the car, but she also said that as it was her own car, and as she paid for all of her own gas, insurance, etc. she felt she was justified in giving a friend a ride.

I think Frank's Pizza is going to be seeing a severe down-turn in business

2003-03-10 10:08:58 PM
This isn't a case of a pizza delivery person happen to be driving by an accident or what not. The driver got a call telling her about the shoting... she then "happens" to drive-by the area while waiting for the next call. Sorry the her boss may be right. She chose to gawk rather than returning to her work. [I would agree with you all if she was just driving by and helped.]

2003-03-10 10:14:14 PM
"she mentioned that she wasn't supposed to have passengers in the car, but she also said that as it was her own car, and as she paid for all of her own gas, insurance, etc. she felt she was justified in giving a friend a ride."

So she admits she's not supposed to do something, does it anyway, then whines when she gets fired.

What if she hadn't saved the guys life, and it was just another night of slacking off and disobeying the rules? Should she be fired then?

Chances are this was probably a routine thing, and the manager knew it. Not to mention it's a 30+ year old woman farking delivering pizzas. How pathetic is that? That alone speaks volumes about her work ethic.

You can be the most kind hearted, good natured person in the world, but if you're a farking lazy bum then I don't want you working for me. Friend? Yeah. Employee? Yeah right.

A Taco Bell or a McDonald's might be able to get away with this. With a billion dollar PR machine they could easily sweep this under the rug, something they've done before. But I get the feeling old Frank isn't going to be able to sweep this under the wrong. Poor guy.

"She wasn't dismissed because she was at the shooting scene," he said. "She was away from her job for no good reason."

asshat.
OK, there's a little bit of shaky ground, being that she wasn't an actual witness. However, at the time it happened, she wasn't needed for her duty, and if I were her boss, I believe that I would have commended her for helping someone in need. "She isn't an EMT..." So? If you see a toddler fall into a lake, do you just not jump in to get him or at least call for help if you can't swim because "you're not a lifeguard?" sounds like union asshattery, if you ask me (it isn't in my job description, so I can't do it)

2003-03-10 10:18:31 PM
DiscGolfer, maybe that'd hold water if she had a pizza to deliver (don't go out of your way if you're doing your job), but...
McAulay knew she was on duty, but she said she just expected to drop off her friend at her Robinson Avenue townhouse and continue cruising Selkirk streets while waiting for the next call to deliver a pizza.

So, she didn't have a pizza to deliver, and since she was going into that area anyway, it wasn't as though she was looking for trouble while on the job. The manager was in the wrong, to make a dramatic understatement.

2003-03-10 10:19:05 PM
The best thing is that if there is a phone campaign to just badger these guys there's not much they can do about it and still maintain business. I don't know if the phone book in CA is the same as it is down here, but ads are really expensive, and if your ad gets messed up you have to wait for the next year to fix it. So if this guy decides to change his number he's going to lose tons of business as people just call the next pizza place down in the book.

A feedback form for the pizza place
Riomp300: please record it and post it if you call.

If it happened in the US, she'd be on all sorts of talk shows and one of them would set up some sort of assistance fund for her if she's in need. Chances are, she wouldn't have to work for a year by the time it was done. Just my hunch...

Geez, Tourney-lighten up.

2003-03-10 10:22:24 PM
Oh, and Tourney3p0, how was she costing the manager money if she didn't even have a pizza to deliver?
"She wasn't dismissed because she was at the shooting scene," he said. "She was away from her job for no good reason."

She wasn't "away from her job" until she was actually helping the guy. If this guy wasn't such a moron, he could've just said that "She wasn't dismissed because she was at the shooting scene. She was breaking the rules by having a passenger."

i didn't know that about independent pizza places Car_Ramrod. i have never seen that here in ct. but there again i only do business with certain pizza places and not all of them.

Ahhh ... it looks like "compassionate conservatism" has made its way to Selkirk MB and penetrated the Pizzeria owner's heart. For such business practices, President Bush would give the man an excellence in business award. Just tell him Canada's a 51st state ...
