I do believe it's SPAR.
2003-03-10 07:20:46 PM
I wonder if these guys would know.

Let's go to space, eh?
2003-03-10 09:52:42 PM
wouldn't canada need to at least plan to launch a rocket before they can have a space agency? Or do they just pick projects to do on our spaceshuttles and the iss?
2003-03-10 09:52:52 PM
Canadarm on the shuttle.

The Canadian Space Agency had two science projects on board Columbia.
2003-03-10 09:53:10 PM
What's a space agency?

2003-03-10 09:56:18 PM
Bah, that's nothing. 100% of people in my house couldn't name it, either.

And anyone can use statistics to prove anything, Kent. 73% of people know that.
2003-03-10 09:57:11 PM
SPAR Aerospace is a company...The Canadian space agency is called, of all things, the Canadian Space Agency.
2003-03-10 09:57:35 PM
they got a space agency? i didn't know that, well maybe they don't, since they're good for nothing.
2003-03-10 09:58:15 PM
I'm a Canadian astronaut, I dance among the stars and swing on the Northern Lights. Me and my pet polar bear Mookie travel the cosmos looking for strange and wonderful worlds. And i sprinkle pixie dust on the eyes of all the children to take them to happy dream places.

Got nuthin'
2003-03-10 09:59:22 PM
Lets try again...

Outside of the "insert obvioustrollmaterialhere tag"...

Course Canada has a Space Agency. It's run out of large igloo in Ottawa, that's surrounded by polar bear patrols, and the wooden rocket is fueled by beer...don't be silly!
2003-03-10 10:00:17 PM
Gudel Yup good for nothing. Good troll. But it's cold out and I'm gonna use my flames to keep me warm.
2003-03-10 10:01:02 PM
What's a Canada?
2003-03-10 10:02:51 PM
The name of the Canadian space agency is NASA. After we dismantled our agency in the 60's all our engineers went down South. I'm not trolling either. Canada sucks. And so does our one, gay, French astrocanuck; Marc whatever.
2003-03-10 10:03:04 PM
Not surprisingly enough, I can't find any press releases on their website about the Columbia tragedy. Are they pissed about losing their petri dishes?
2003-03-10 10:04:35 PM
My guess is the US has the biggest space agency since they have a huge budget... but yeah Canada does have one.

Marc Garneau. There is a high school nearby here that is named after him, Marc Garneau Colligate. Interestingly it is in one of the most ethnically divirse neighborhoods in the city. Many of the students are new arrivals and they have'nt got a freaken clue who he is either!
2003-03-10 10:07:18 PM
Ya, Canada does suck. Imagine, having most of the advantages of being the US, yet none of the dis-advantages. I HATE being Canadian!
2003-03-10 10:08:37 PM
i think we sent a female into space.. along with a number of males... polar bears that is, unfortunatly they drank the beer fuel and were unable to return and instead floated into the sun, hence fried polar bear ice cream was invented...

i should lay off the heavy drugs
2003-03-10 10:09:09 PM
Toronto Checked out your site aaaaaaaaaaaaamazing shots dude. I'm impressed. Can I come to your house?
2003-03-10 10:11:38 PM
Roberta Bondair was our Canadian female space pioneer.
2003-03-10 10:13:06 PM
I think it's called CASA. Or it should be.
2003-03-10 10:14:04 PM
67% of canadians can't even name their capital, and 39% can't name the 25th letter of the alphabet, so what's the big deal?
2003-03-10 10:14:04 PM
Not to sound defensive or anything, but how many Americans can find Canada on a map?

(How could they, all tucked away down there...)
2003-03-10 10:14:10 PM
I believe that Canada was the third country in the world to launch it's own satellite, after the Soviet Union and the US. It was called Allouette; launched in 1962. Not bad for a non-superpower.
2003-03-10 10:17:26 PM
VingearJones - Thanks.

Lots of countries have the technology/people to go into space/moon - the USA just hypes it more.
2003-03-10 10:19:39 PM
Canadians ought to develop the technology to get people to the moon. It would be like a holiday for the ones who live in Winnipeg.
2003-03-10 10:20:48 PM

checked out your website after VinegarJones comment.

Nice for me to see the old hometown. I haven't been there in years!
2003-03-10 10:22:52 PM
Toronto -

Although many countries have the technology to develop a space program, only a mere few can afford the billions and billions of dollars to do so.

If it were so easy to send people to the moon, why has nobody else managed to do it?
2003-03-10 10:28:05 PM
The moon no longer draws. Mars is the new "in" place to go!

No one has been to the moon in over 25 years? (likely wrong figure but still it's been a long time)
2003-03-10 10:28:24 PM
Where would we be without Canadarm? Without the ability to grab things in space from inside the Shuttle, dudes. Give props!
2003-03-10 10:28:47 PM
And 83 per cent of the respondents in the Leger Marketing survey were unable to name the Canadian Space Agency as the organization in charge of the country's space program. Sixteen per cent could.

So what about the other 1 percent?
2003-03-10 10:31:25 PM
The space shuttles have technology from all sorts of
countries. It's been many years since any human life has been on the moon.
2003-03-10 10:31:27 PM
Here and all this time I thought the big maple leaf on the space shuttle arm was just a ad from Canada Dry sponiship.
2003-03-10 10:31:33 PM
The other one percent could'nt stop laughing long enough to answer.
2003-03-10 10:31:36 PM

Not surprisingly enough, I can't find any press releases on their website about the Columbia tragedy.

I agree that this is wrong, and I can't understand why there are no mentions of this tragedy on the CSA website. The news carried many responses from our astronaut corps and government.

Are they pissed about losing their petri dishes?

A truly stupid comment from someone I usually think of as clever.....

2003-03-10 10:32:53 PM
Apollo 17 left the moon for the final time on December 14, 1972. You do the math.
2003-03-10 10:39:44 PM
I think that the reason for not mentiong the tragedy is because the website is run by my beloved goverment, you probably won't find any "press releases". I say this without having looked so I may be wrong.
2003-03-10 10:40:03 PM
Depends on whether you count the unmanned stuff, VinegarJones, and also if you count orbiters.
2003-03-10 10:41:04 PM
Wasn't someone on the moon in 1999??
2003-03-10 10:41:44 PM
D'oh! My HTML skills have left me....
2003-03-10 10:42:25 PM
U.S. doesn't have a space agency either, btw. Been to the moon (sorta) 40 years ago, flying around in circles ever since.
2003-03-10 10:44:01 PM

2003-03-10 10:44:22 PM
Canada's space agency is called Saskatchewan, where astronauts launch horizontally and hit nothing til the border. :)
2003-03-10 10:44:37 PM
2003-03-10 10:45:52 PM
Manned space flight dude. The Apollo program was entirely manned. Although ya never know Ralph may have sent Alice to the moon afterall.

One of these days.POW!To the moon
