it's not even a 'warhead' - it's just a big empty tank hurtling into the moon at a fairly high velocity.

I still think we are going about space colonization all wrong. You can either:

1) Terraform a large percentage of the Universe so our squishy, fragile little water balloon bodies can survive in it (not feasible).

2) Make Cybernetic bodies that can survive in a large percentage of the Universe as it is (feasible).

I bought a telescope this summer in preparation of this event. It's still not entirely clear to me how visible this will be- it's very near the south pole, and I'm not sure how lit the general area will be (the crater is obviously very dark, which makes it an ideal impact site). Anybody else know more? The weeb doesn't seem to say as much as one would hope.

Scientists have suggested that water ice millions of years old might be found in the shadowed craters of the moon's north and south poles, where the sun never shines.

So thaaaaat's where we're supposed to 'stick it'

I wanted to watch this. too. I then found a Celestron PowerSeeker 114 for $95.00 including the shipping charge. Unbelievable deal. I bought four Super Plossl lenses for $31 on eBay. I love this recession.
