My dad tells a story that on a 2 wk trip to England in the mid 80's, my sisters (about 3 yrs old at the time) had high fevers. My aunt we were staying with called a doctor, who came out and examined them. My dad thought he had to pay and asked how much he owed. The doctor, apparently an opportunist, made up some number and my aunt caught them while money was being exchanged. She was furious, threw the doctor out, and filed a complaint.

I was only 6, so I remember none of this.

More immigrants in legitimate jobs, more of them are insured.

Immigrants will have more money to spend, thereby boosting the economy.

So, more tax revenue, less spending, less crime, more buying power for American citizens.

But, of course, it'll probably never happen.

With several different bills currently being discussed it's hard enough to get clear information without having this crap shoved down our throats.

We're already paying for illegal immigrants. We'll always deal with immigrants at least on an emergency services level, and the required steps for people to have to prove their citizenship before receiving healthcare services is not only absurd the steps required to do so would require more government involvement.

So expatriates will be excluded from purchasing insurance on the public exchange? After all, they are not lawfully present in the United States, but are citizens.

A friend of mine got plastered and fell down and shattered her jaw in London. Perfectly fixed up with some wires and whatnot. The only time she had to pay anything was on the followup visits when she came back to the U.S.

Let me state that again: The bill needs no language to disallow non-citizens. It needs no verification passage. It needs no special provisions. The provision that is in there is stronger and effectively says that they can't even treat HR3200 as exceptional. There is already verification in place when applying for government programs.

The Democrats are not only not lying, but the Republicans are making hay out of a much bigger lie than they accused the Dems of. They're using racism - yes, dammit, I'm playing the race card and you farkers merit it - as a wedge to maintain the broken status quo.

Ummmm, just so that you are aware, if you are here legally, you are "lawfully present" in the United States and are eligible for affordability credits. The problem with Obama is that he wants to be everything to everyone, which means that at any point in time he must be lying about something. You can't be free market at the same time your trying to introduce new controls and options for the explicit purpose fo squeezing out the free market.

Single payer may be the way to go eventually, but we won't get there by pretending that all of these complex features of our health care can be lumped together as one big problem and that the solution is more massive outlays of govt lucre.
