He was a writer for "Bedazzled". That is a good movie, and Elizabeth Hurley never looked better as the Devil.

I have a message. Comedy writer... Larry Gelbart's plane... was shot down... over the Sea of Japan. It spun in. There were no survivors.

One of the best and funniest writers in the entertainment industry.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Gelbart.

Apparently, one of his Emmy nominations came from writing the episode "Hawkeye," in which Hawkeye is rescued by a South Korean family after having an accident in his Jeep. He was also nominated for writing "The More I See You" (in which Hawkeye finds an old flame who's married) and the pilot episode.

He made great contributions to a great series.

Rest in peace, Mr. Gelbart.

Cancer is painless too, as long as the tumor isn't pressing on any nerve endings.

1 out of 4 of you reading this will die of cancer, but lets pretend the swine flu, with it's 0.02% mortality rate is scary

Crap, given the miserable state of Hollywood these days, his writing skills are needed more than ever....

Thanks for the many, many laughs over the years.

But first, how about a number?

DslainteC: I have a message. Comedy writer... Larry Gelbart's plane... was shot down... over the Sea of Japan. It spun in. There were no survivors.

I remember when I found out that no one in the room knew what was coming and they gave Gary Burghoff that page just before they rolled film on that scene. It's still one of the most heartbreaking things I've ever seen put on screen. Nobody knew what was coming. That's why that show was genius.

Very bad tagg, almost worthy of South Carolina, politicians.

I'd make a M*A*S*H reference, but all the good ones are taken. So I'll just say that he will be missed, especially for making one of the best TV series of the 20th Century.

I had lots of laughs out of the MASH series. When I was in an undisclosed location without TV (years before i-pods or even videos) the After Mash books kept me amused and sane.

RIP funny man.

Damn. I don't know if I'm mad at you for proving me wrong or happy for knowing that the truth is an even better than what I "knew."

Thanks for the heads-up on that one.

I actually had a long conversation with him while feeding the parking meter once. He was so flabbergasted I knew who he was, he paid my meter. We had a lovely talk about the Golden age of TV. He was a really nice man.
