Would it be illegal to smear fecal material on the wipers when you park?

City officials say they're not trying to drive up revenue. They say the increase is caused by more residential parking zones, more parking agents, replacement of faded no-parking signs and population growth.

We're not TRYING to increase ticket revenue. We're just hiring more meter maids and creating more ticket-able zones.

You should see all the speed traps on Pena Blvd. Sure, they've always been out there, but only once in awhile. I swear there are some that are simply assigned to speed trap duty there.

In the name of safety, of course.

Saw a speed trap off E-470 southbound while I was headed to the airport. You go around one bend, then a second bend, and there were two motorcycle cops parked there, waiting to nail someone just before Pena blvd.

I also see speed traps all over the place, in Boulder, I-25, all over Denver...my ass none of that's for revenue.

Wow, I was lucky I didn't get one. I went clubbing in SoCo last weekend, and my car was running hot so I was desperate for a place to park. I parked just past a No Parking sign, but juuuuuuust far enough away from the intersection I think.

It's not just parking, either: my friend DJs down there and says he saw his first DUI checkpoint in ages two weekends ago. Not to mention the cops on I-25: I saw at least three with somebody pulled over.

It has everything to do with people still thinking they can drive around and park for free. Denver has an excellent bus system.

How exactly does excess speed cause a parking ticket?

Why do people get bent all out of shape about parking tickets when it's as simple as not parking in places marked "no parking"?

Because if everyone did that, the town would just implement a street sweeping program.

By "street sweeping program," do you mean marking more places as "no parking" than what is reasonable?

They marked my whole neighborhood 2 hour parking. When I went to the Webb Building to ask why and get a permit, they said because the area is zoned for businesses. I walked several streets and have yet to find a business on them. Its just a cash grab.

Somewhat related...people in our neighborhood were incessantly complaining about speeders, California stops and suspicious people walking around. They demanded more patrols, enforce the laws, etc.

One resident got a ticket for parking too far away from the curb (or some really far-out parking violation). He was one of those people biatching for more patrols.

I thought that was a great way to tell the neighborhood to shut up, given that parking ticket was issued at 2:00 a.m.

On another subject, it'll be interesting to see if the speed traps are reduced after they lay off the 92 cops.

Dear Precious Snowflakes,

If you want low taxes and government services, you have to pay for them somehow.

What?

You mean that fishing license that went from $8 to $48,
that toll booth that went from $0.75 to $5,
that building permit that went from $18 to $236,
that red light ticket that went from $82 to $418,
that municipal water bill that went from $7 to $39,
that hotel tax that went from $4.25 to $23,
and that parking ticket that went from $6 to $32 are all somehow related?

Unpossible!

My last parking ticket had a $8 surcharge on it for the state. Parking ticket surcharge...

Thanks TPaw
