Dammit, I hate sites that do that. Who the hell thinks alerts are funny??? And yes, I was warned...no one to blame but myself.

I thought it was funny, but since when does my opinion count anyways?

2001-09-16 12:26:41 AM
This sure was funny the FIRST time I saw it like 3 years ago and at the 100+ geocities sites dedicated to that juvenile neverending java script bit... oh wait no it wasnt.

Consider switching your main web browser to Mozilla 0.9.4). Just a few lines in your prefs.js will make web browsing *so* much nicer. I had to switch to IE to "experience" this website...

Adding the following to your prefs.js file will stop almost all unwanted popup windows (without disrupting useful popups), web sites that move or resize your browser window, and pertainent to this site, prevent JavaScript alerts.

user_pref("capability.policy.default.Window.innerHeight.set", "noAccess");
user_pref("capability.policy.default.Window.innerWidth.set", "noAccess");
user_pref("capability.policy.default.Window.moveBy", "noAccess");
user_pref("capability.policy.default.Window.moveTo", "noAccess");
user_pref("capability.policy.default.Window.open", "sameOrigin");
user_pref("capability.policy.default.Window.outerHeight.set", "noAccess");
user_pref("capability.policy.default.Window.outerWidth.set", "noAccess");
user_pref("capability.policy.default.Window.resizeBy", "noAccess");
user_pref("capability.policy.default.Window.resizeTo", "noAccess");
user_pref("capability.policy.default.Window.screenX.set", "noAccess");
user_pref("capability.policy.default.Window.screenY.set", "noAccess");
user_pref("capability.policy.default.Window.sizeToContent", "noAccess");
user_pref("capability.policy.default.Window.status", "noAccess");
user_pref("capability.policy.default.Window.alert", "noAccess");
user_pref("capability.policy.default.windowinternal.alert", "noAccess");
user_pref("dom.disable_open_during_load", true);

See http://www.mozilla.org/projects/security/components/configPolicy.html for more details.

2001-09-16 12:57:16 AM
the last time i clicked a link that said not to click it, it took me to goatse_cx. i learned my lesson.

2001-09-16 01:11:32 AM
can someone get around the filter and tell me what the term "goatse_cx" is when it isn't filtered? I've tried to put it in context of the posts but I see it so often I never know.

2001-09-16 01:53:44 AM
ROFL, for me to poop on!

I've seen it mention several times.. what the heck is goatse_cx?

2001-09-16 02:22:55 AM
I think the "do not click this link" is brilliant. It was the first one I clicked on...now let's be honest. Who else had their curiousity piqued just by the stupid header?

2001-09-16 02:25:30 AM
tish, goatse dot cx is probable something you don't really need to see.

once you've seen one gaping, dilated asshole, you've seen them all.

2001-09-16 02:26:24 AM
Tish: I will try..Go to this. If that does work do a search on google for "Big ass hole". Should pop up real soon.

shiat, the filter nailed the link. Tish, just go to www. g o a t s e. c x...without all the spaces of course. And god bless your eyes.

2001-09-16 02:29:11 AM
I had someone send me something similar to this as an e-mail joke a while back, and you had to get through 150 alerts before it was finished....

*pushes the RESET button*

- I'll have mine to go, please....

...I wonder what happened to those poor newbies who asked "what is goatse.cx"?

Never heard from them since. Maybe their eyes burned out of their heads.

2001-09-16 06:22:06 AM
interesting filter bypass, ishidan. not really applicable to all situations, but i'm impressed. does it work for rotten.com? i doubt it.

2001-09-16 06:22:23 AM
hey, it does.

2001-09-16 06:23:31 AM
sorry for the multiple posting, here. does anybody know what the extension, ".cx" stands for? or, perhaps, where one can look up what various extensions stand for?

2001-09-16 08:53:37 AM
Yeah, Ishidan, I'm blind now.

At least that means I can never see it again.

2001-09-16 10:34:18 AM
Hehehe... stupid newbies

2001-09-16 11:40:53 AM
Hey, I'm not a newbie I'm a lurker, and everyone has to go blind sooner or later. (Shudder)

I haven't clicked the linked article (or the goat one either). Glad I decided to read the comments beforehand. Will the curiosity kill me? Nope.

2001-09-16 02:07:09 PM
I didn't click the link. What happened?

2001-09-16 02:24:26 PM
HA! I would have loved to see the look in their eyes when they clicked on the goatse.cx link. I'll never look at my chili-cheese buritto the same again!

2001-09-16 03:01:49 PM
i just got mozilla for winders, and its AWESOME...but where is prefs.js? i want to do that stuff above! help!

2001-09-16 03:47:46 PM
it angered me to see someone named freakboy, which my sn is based off of. that's a funny feeling.

2001-09-16 04:58:49 PM
Sgamer-

Do a search for prefs.js (either Start Menu->Search->For Files or Folders, or press the Windows and F keys at the same time) and search for prefs.js. Quit Mozilla first, edit prefs.js with any text editor, add the lines and save, then restart Mozilla.

http://tln.lib.mi.us/~amutch/pro/mozilla/prefsjs.htm has more information.

thanks! that worked! yay!
