That article was tragically short on details, but thankfully did have the corresponding picture to help me envision what a strip search might look like.

I hate this shiat, student still have the same rights as adults, regardless if they are in school or not. The constitution doesn't get turned off just because you enter a school. Where is the ALCU, wasting time complaining that there is a cross within 500 meters of a public building? This is what they should be fighting, give students back their rights.

It will give them experience for after high school when they are dancing at a strip joint.

Think of it as vocational school.

Crozier said faculty members denied it was a strip-search

Well what the hell, if torture isn't torture any more, than how can a strip search be a strip search?

That little gem alone would prompt me to hire the pissiest lawyer I could find.

All the ones I see are. But you're right, there may be some who escaped the Nintendo Xboxes and Cheesy Poofs.

But I doubt there are many.

"Kids have the same rights as adults" Of course they do...

LOL I say. LOL out loud.

On the other hand, stripping minor children should probably earn thge principal the coveted "sex-offender" status. IF they objected, do we get to add assault, or forcible confinement?

That shouldn't prevent him from continuing his career, should it?

Didn't the Supreme Court just rule on a case that covered these exact circumstances? Here's the ruling. Link (new window) This superintendent is farked and just cost the school district a lot of money.

Whether public school students should have the same rights as adults is a matter of debate, but the USSC has weighed in on the issue more than once and decided they do not.

I did just get a new schoolgirl skirt...

On focus, it's ridiculous what the staff did and more importantly, that the super is trying to cover their ass by saying it was acceptable. High school is cruel so not only were these girls humiliated by authority figures who were supposed to be looking out for their best interests, but now they are also open to ridicule for the remainder of their time in high school. They'll always be "the girls who got strip searched."

There was this guy in freshman year who apparently was jacking off in the bathroom and someone else walked in on him. It didn't matter that he grew taller, filled out and basically became a handsome and nice guy -- he was still the "guy who was jacking off in the bathroom."

You realize that the ACLU doesn't generally just sue for the hell of it, right? That usually someone will ask them for help or they'll contact the person after that person has already filed a suit, right?

Larry Mahnken: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safford_Unified_School_District_v._Redding

Yes, but now that the Supreme Court has clarified the rules, this school district can't claim immunity, because they should know that they aren't allowed to perform a strip search. The only grounds would be if they had evidence the stolen property poses a present danger to the students, or if the stolen property is hidden in the girl's underwear. This superintendent is farked.

They also strip searched the girls in front of the girl who accused them of stealing her money. No money was ever found. So, they didn't just strip search them, they humiliated them in from of the accuser (who very likely made up the accusation just to attack them.. you know how nasty teenagers can be.)

I would imagine that those girls will be teased a lot. HS was and is still a very cruel place. Hopefully they are seniors and it won't stick with them for very long.

I think sometimes school districts are just a bit too isolated in smaller towns (and apparently Atlantic is a verrry small town), and it's quite easy for them to forget about state laws.

But I think they're not going to forget about those laws anytime soon...
