Maybe you could be an innovator or an inventor - maybe even good enough to come up with the next iPhone or a new medicine or vaccine

See, that is just offensive. What if Jenny McCarthy's kid is listening to this? Impeach him, I say!

Obama: You'll need the knowledge and problem-solving skills you learn in science and math to cure diseases like cancer and AIDS, and to develop new energy technologies and protect our environment.

Wait, doesn't the Bible say we should pray to God to fix these things for us while we praise His name? COMMUNIST

NOBAMA: Young people like Jazmin Perez, from Roma, Texas. Jazmin didn't speak English when she first started school. Hardly anyone in her hometown went to college, and neither of her parents had gone either.

Then she should go back to Mexico.

But she worked hard, earned good grades, got a scholarship to Brown University, and is now in graduate school, studying public health, on her way to being Dr. Jazmin Perez.

Oh wait, nevermind.

OSAMA: So today, I want to ask you, what's your contribution going to be? What problems are you going to solve? What discoveries will you make? What will a president who comes here in twenty or fifty or one hundred years say about what all of you did for this country?

I feel like a dang commie Ruskie just reading that.

We've replaced the planned socialist indoctrination propaganda with a well-reasoned, encouraging, and common sense speech. Let's see if anyone notices!

I still don't get why someone would be upset over the President giving a 'stay in skool' speech to a bunch of kids.

that doesn't make any sense.

I think it's a good speech. Conservative critics should change their tune on this one.

2009-09-07 02:54:21 PM
I can't for the life of me understand why this is an issue. The president is going to give a speech to some school kids. That's it. It's barely newsworthy. Republicans, get in here and explain yourselves.

2009-09-07 02:54:24 PM
Don't you people get it? If they stay in school and work hard, then they'll become Commie-Nazis! You know who else valued work? The National Socialist German Workers Party, and the Korean Workers Party, that's who!

2009-09-07 02:55:02 PM
I actually saw someone on another forum make a post saying that the President should stick to doing his job and not worry about children in school.

I just didn't have the words to respond to that...

Weaver95: I still don't get why someone would be upset over the President giving a 'stay in skool' speech to a bunch of kids.

Because the phrase "conservative thought" has devolved into an oxymoron.

Weaver95: I still don't get why someone would be upset over the President giving a 'stay in skool' speech to a bunch of kids.

Because they hate seeing him in power. They have a frothing at the mouth, deep seated hatred of the man.

Why? Part of it is because he's a Democrat, and they think politics is a "game" and their "team" has lost.

Part of it is because he's a black man who's more successful than they are, and they like to blame their own personal failures on affirmative action.

2009-09-07 02:56:53 PM
Hoo boy. He mentions AIDS, too. The "conservatives" have their smoking gun.

"I ain't want no polimatician what wants to teach mah kids 'bout them homoqueers."

I've talked about your parents' responsibility for making sure you stay on track, and get your homework done, and don't spend every waking hour in front of the TV or with that Xbox.

Oh look. The government is telling me how to raise my kids. SOCIAMALISM!

What the fark is wrong with asking children how they can make this country a better place?

What's wrong with asking how the President will inspire you?

Barack Obama has a personally inspiring story. Even if you disagree with EVERY SINGLE thing he stands for, the fact that a biracial child of a single mother ended up as President of the United States is inspiring.

At my kids school they used the excuse that school started a month ago and it doesn't fit into their lesson plan. It's a cop out, but I'm sure they just don't want the hassle. I live in a conservative area and if they were to show it I'm sure there would be an uproar. It's a shame really. I think it's a great speech.

All of the frothing, screaming, unhinged teabaggers are demanding "fiscal responsibility." Where were these people for the last eight years? There are a hell of a lot of people who insist that as long as they don't say "n****r," then they aren't racist. People who think are starting to see otherwise.

In related news, if even SH is saying that this is a good thing, you can imagine how loony the detractors are.

I think they had to pull the lesson plan entirely. Anyway, there are undoubtedly right wing nutjobs screeching about a speech that had nothing offensive in it, but I don't think it's at all unfair for the non-screeching, non-nutjob right wing to point out that the lesson plan looked like propaganda directed at public school children. It does. And I also don't think it's the slightest bit fair for the President's supporters to pretend that this is totally made up bullshiat. The President stepped in it. It's certainly not a Bush-level farkup, but there's no question that it was a farkup.

Why?

Why shouldn't school children be inspired by Barack Obama's story? Why shouldn't school children try to make this country a better place?

Seriously...what is wrong with this?

Then perhaps the non-screeching, non-nutjob members of the right should do a better job of disassociating themselves with the blithering idiots. Better yet, they should publicly reject and denounce them.

Why... because the white kids won't get to use any Affirmative Action like he did.

That is why.

It would be interesting to post that speech somewhere as "The Republican counter-speech" given by Romney or something. The reactions would be interesting.

Really? I wouldn't want my kid to be required by a public school to describe how he was inspired by President Bush. Does that make me insane? Or does your position have more to do with the personality cult President in question?

Translation:

You must meed minimum requirements before the government will hand you a job, but don't worry about preforming well since you will be in a union and cannot be terminated.
