One time a drunk driver came racing through my neighborhood in a Cadillac... hit a large decorative rock on the side of the road which launched his car into the air... he went through a 40 foot high oak tree, reducing it to kindling at about the 5 foot level on up.

FARK: And he drove off. (Was later arrested as he left pieces of his car behind.)

Warchild's pic shows that the car didn't take out the entire 1st and 2nd floors. including the front of the house. The fire crew took care of that getting the car out.

I don't think any house is designed to hold up a 4000 lb SUV hurtling at ludicrous speed.

The neighbor we share a back fence with had a car launch into the 2nd story of the back corner of their house a few months ago. We're both on corner lots and there's somewhat of a hump on their property where the sidewalk would be if there was one on that side. Some drunk tard ramped it, but he didn't achieve the embedding like in the pic. His car bounced off and landed not upright so he ran away before the cops showed up.

Looks like that's what happened. Fast down a long stretch, hit (probably) the high crown of the cross street, bushes give a bit more lift, nothing but 2nd story.

If some teenage douchebag did that to my house there would be no need to arrest him. The dude would be dead, and it would be readily apparent.

Now if it were a teenage girl, well, maybe we could work something out. Lifetime sexual slavery (or until she got old/ugly/fat) or something like that.

From TFA
Police arrested the driver of the car. He's identified as 20-year-old Adam Clark of East Moriches, and he had minor injuries.

Aw, someone's little snowflake is going to be meeting the warm, melting reality of PITA prison real fast.

Yeah originally it says "speed bump". I don't see how a speed bump could ramp it up that high at any speed. But later TFA mentions "berm". That can do it.

Houses at the end of 3-way intersections have long been the targets of speeding drunks. Some houses have been hit multiple times, prompting some owners to create berms to stop them. Unfortunately, unless the front of the berm is sloped like 60 deg from horizontal or more, past a certain speed it'll only result in a vehicle being launched into the roof or second story.
