Shatner may not have been in the new Star Trek movie but one thing is certain - his readings of Sarah Palin's tweets and her farewell speech on Conan were comedy gold.

I don't care what Nimoy says--Quinto's illogical Spock can't hold a candle to Lenny's. There are episodes of TOS that Nimoy single-handedly keeps from sucking. He was one of the only real actors on that show. Spock Prime Forever.

I am going to cry like a schoolgirl when The Shat dies.

I'm pretending the reboot doesn't exist, and I don't care if it's not cool to do so. If I'd ever worried about being perceived as cool, I never would have gotten into Trek in the first place.

I read the headline expecting it to be the two dweebs from the new ST movie, but was pleasantly surprised. Cool thing for Shatner and Nimoy to do.

I've got your six on that. The reboot sucks, and people who like it I can only assume are brain damaged.

/"Lens Flare: The Movie" might have been an okay popcorn flick if it was marketed as "Lens Flare: The Movie," but Star Trek, it ain't.

A friend's father once lived in a building in Montreal with William Shatner's mother. They'd chat sometimes in the elevator and he remembers her always fondly saying "That Leonard Nimoy is such a nice boy."

I met Nimoy at my first an only sci-fi convention and he was totally cool. I imagine Shatner is too. The new guys can suck it. It was a well done movie but unnecessary.

It really felt nothing like a Star Trek movie or even science fiction. It felt like an action flic. Entertaining, sure. But even as a casual Star Trek fan I left feeling cheated.

We've all mellowed towards Shatner, I think. He had some pretty lean years credibility-wise, but made it through. Stick around long enough and you become an icon. It will be sad when he goes.

/I would have liked to have seen Adrian Brody as Spock and Matt Damon as Kirk in the reboot. Instead we got a teen movie. What a waste of a perfectly good franchise.

God you are a pair of silly old douches. The new movie was ten times better than all of the other trek movies except for Wrath of Khan. And the acting was universally better.

If James Cameron had made a Star Trek movie, it might have been something identical.

I've met Shatner, and he was a fake-as-hell douchebag who was super nice when someone with a camera was around, and rude and abrasive anytime else. This was like 15 years ago, so hopefully he's mellowed out. He's hilarious in shows, as long as he doesn't have to do any serious acting. His roast of Palin was awesome.

I loved the new Trek. Loved. No, it's not more ST:TNG re-runs, it's new stuff with a new feel. Definitely much more action-flick than sci-fi flick, but I don't mind that, as long as they're true to the characters. However, unlike Voyager (*gag*) and Enterprise (ho hum), I think they really nailed the scope of Star Trek. May it live long and prosper.

I saw Mr. Nimoy at a convention in Seattle in 93/94. He was talking about trying to program his VCR. My Brother in Law yelled out, "Does it blink 12:00?", to which Nimoy replied, "Why, yes, it does!"
The whole ride home, my little nephew (4-5 at the time) couldn't stop talking about how "Daddy talked to Spock." It was the cutest thing.

Live Long and Prosper, Leonard!

After hearing how Shatner treated wilw when he tried to meet him as a young kid while on TNG, I pretty much can't stand the guy.

If you're interested, google "William farking Shatner" (minus the filter) and you'll be in for a good read. Even more incredible to hear Wil tell it.

There are two options here:

1) You are in denial. Which isn't just a river in Egypt.

2) We are being trolled.

/Third option is both, which is either trite or astute
//Which could be both as well
