TentaclePr0nRocks yes it's me, but much more interesting is.. is Eeek's profile photo really him?

it's very... naked.

2003-03-07 11:32:05 AM
hey what the fark?! don't put my picture in the thread.

could a mod delete that or something? please? :/

Regular people? Like, that is, like, so.. eww, like... eeeewwwwww...

2003-03-07 11:41:16 AM
Heh, this would be better than the huge ads I saw outside3 the Gap last weekend. They all looked like heroin addicts with tans.

Fear heroin addicts with tans.

2003-03-07 11:41:58 AM
I'll believe it when I see it. I saw an ad for the Gap last night, pushing those stretch slacks? I almost died laughing - the models were maybe...MAYBE 90 lbs, soaking wet. And they were springing and spoinging and bouncing about, grinning like idiots and looking even more skeletal as they did. The tag line was something like, "The new Gap stretch khakis go where you want to go" or something. Uhhh, its been my experience that skeletal people are the last ones to wear strech *anything*. Why not show who REALLY will buy them? Like a 30 lbs butt crammed into 10 lb pants? Now THAT is truth in advertising.

Bizarro's post reminds me of the scene in Zoolander where Derek loses his friends in an 'innocent gasoline fight'.

2003-03-07 11:46:17 AM
Llarken That scene had to be the funniest thing I had ever seen. I, unfortunately, have some model friends and that was so dead on it was scary!!!

2003-03-07 11:47:34 AM
Nod, my best friend is a model and though she is actually quite intelligent and 'aware' some of her model friends are, well, shall we say "ORANGE MOCHA FRAPPACINO!"-esque.

Absolutben: I wouldn't call myself a Gap fan, but the stuff IS higher quality than Old Navy. So, in other words, its not exactly the same.

2003-03-07 12:08:51 PM
yeah by normal people they mean 90lb people normal people who they can pay less $$ than the famous 90 lb people. Bastards. Gap stuff isn't bad, old navy stuff is made to fit people with no curves, the size 10 is just a big size 2. Bastards.

Thank you mods

I mean, I could go to one of several hundred news sites to read the article, but I can only come to Fark to get into a Fark-like discussion about it. If we are blocked from Fark-like discussions, then what is the point of coming here?

Nice Gap article. I really enjoyed it. Thanks for posting it.

I don't know about that Llarken. I still wear a pair of pants I bought at Old Navy two years ago and aside from looking a little weathered (which I like)there's nothing wrong with them. I bought a jacket from CRAP..er GAP and it didn't even last me six months and I wore the jacket a lot less than I wear the pants.

2003-03-07 12:16:09 PM
That probably has to do with the materiels, AbsoluteBen. Denim has a lot more wear to is than say, courderoy.

I only speak as someone who's done a lot of sewing and checks the stitching/hemming/cut of fabrics when they check out a store. Old Navy isn't the dregs (K-mart clothing) for sure, but the Gap uses more skill in putting their clothing together. Perhaps they are more stric with their underpaid migrant workers :( Who knows.

2003-03-07 12:18:33 PM
Did we date in the early 80's?

2003-03-07 12:22:18 PM
LlarkenI was under the impression that both GAP and Old Navy were made by the same migrant workers since they're owned by the same company. Never checked the label on my GAP stuff but a lot of Old Navy comes from the Phillipines.

2003-03-07 12:23:57 PM
All my Gap clothes have the Union Label.

2003-03-07 12:25:53 PM
Gap is made by the day workers, and Old Navy is made by the night shift workers.

2003-03-07 12:28:27 PM
I don't buy stuff from J.Crew, but my girlfriend routinely returns stuff from there that falls apart in a week. And the prices are crazy. I really can't understand why she or anyone else ever buys their crap.

*notices that he's wearing a j.crew sweater*

My mom bought it I swear! Wait that sounds worse.

2003-03-07 12:30:16 PM
I like Jcrew stuff but yeah, it's just too expensive. I really would like a pair a linen pants though, and they have some I like. Just thinking out loud. Man am I bored.

A short html course can be found here, in the body of his profile, SatanicNinja. And, you can practice here.

Mme.Mersault A singles Forum would impair married farkers' (who will remain nameless) abilities to observe the singles trying to hook up. Because if we can read it on regular Fark, it's totally cool, but if we actually have enter a "singles forum" it gets shady...

2003-03-07 12:39:44 PM
Oooops. Here.

Thanks, but the course link doesn't actually work. I should actually know these things... Hm. Maybe I should have used them at least once after I completed those courses. Weeeelll, I'll find it out before I try again, but if you like redheads, please copy+paste that link (unless you are at work).

2003-03-07 12:42:32 PM
Yes thakx Eeek the new one works.

2003-03-07 12:43:01 PM
Flame wars in the Singles forum, I can just see it now. They'll need new mods for such a board (is Fark hiring now?)

OK, on topic. Ordinary models would actually work. I hate seeing clothes hanging in the shop window that would be tight on Calysta Flockhart or that were meant for those 24 inch pythons that only come by eating your vitamins, saying your prayers, and I forget the third.

Plus, ordinary people are more attractive to me than a heavily made-up model.

2003-03-07 12:48:06 PM
I would think that the reason clothing companies use professional models is that they are effective at selling clothes.

Gonna be a hell of a shock if they find out after all these years that they could have just picked someone off the street to do the same thing.

2003-03-07 12:48:14 PM
chick 3_16-- "Ordinary models would actually work. I hate seeing clothes hanging in the shop window that would be tight on Calysta Flockhart..."

the key word is clothes. I don't mind seeing skinny ass models but when the L is way too tight for me (and I'm not big) there's a problem.

2003-03-07 01:13:21 PM
Yeah, just for the record, that's obviously not me in my profile! I'm way to ugly to post my real picture. and oh, I'm a guy too.

2003-03-07 01:17:01 PM
And Mike, my name's not Dave, that's BadFish420. But anyway, thanks for the comment. I am pretty hot!

Yeah, just for the record, that's obviously not me in my profile! I'm way to ugly to post my real picture. and oh, I'm a guy too.

Hmm, I think you are a guy and that IS your real picture ;). I could almost swear you had a different one earlier today...

2003-03-07 01:20:14 PM
I am a guy and if that was my real picture I would be one happy mother fcker! I would stay home all day trying to give myself a pearl necklace

2003-03-07 01:22:29 PM
and yes I did have another one earlier. Chances are I'll have a different one in a few minutes

2003-03-07 01:24:28 PM
Hehe, yeah, that's how it goes... Though I don't know what you would use for the pearl necklace. Pearls I guess ;). Ah damn, I guess Cola is not getting back so I'll have to move to another topic...

2003-03-07 01:24:34 PM
I guess I think it's pretty sucky that everytime certain people (in this case Cola) tries to make a point about say Missy Elliot or women's body hair, there's some asshat saying, "you're totally hot!" It's essentially saying, I don't value your opinion, but I do value your looks.

Maybe I'm getting too serious. I guess I'll had back to the crazy dialect filter forum.

2003-03-07 01:27:24 PM
tries = try. I = big dummy.

2003-03-07 01:35:54 PM
I'm not ugly, and I got a pic of Homsar in my profile. Some people just don't like putting pics in their profiles, and some people (like me) just can't find a half-decent one to scan.

2003-03-07 01:41:19 PM
Eeek

Still living in Jax?

Meanwhile, 10-year-old Ashley Newman says she's no "girly-girl," loves sports and is a big fan of Avril Lavigne.

Girly-girl.

2003-03-07 01:55:18 PM
Damned, LostAgain, you changed the picture before I remembered to copy it.

2003-03-07 01:56:46 PM
Yep.

2003-03-07 02:09:33 PM

"11-year-old James Van Antwerp wants to be either a brain surgeon or in the NFL."

Nothing wrong with that. Emmitt Smith is my brain surgeon. [/joke]

2003-03-07 02:30:48 PM
It would be nice to see different body shapes modeling clothing, not quite feasible I suppose. I just think women who perhaps are short waisted/long waisted/top heavy etc would like to see others like them in flattering clothing.

I imagine the same could be said for guys.

2003-03-07 03:00:55 PM
X-tacy-where are you in north Florida?

2003-03-07 03:50:43 PM
Nice one Bump. Its genious and sickening at the same time!

MmeMersault: Ugly farker here...

2003-03-07 05:05:30 PM
Damn, i'm so ugly i shut down the thread...

Nice to have that kind of power!
