"It's the worst roller coaster of my life, and I hate roller coasters," said Adi Ellad, who lost his home in Big Tujunga Canyon over the weekend. "One second I'm crying, one second I'm guilty, the next moment I'm angry, and then I just want to drink tequila and forget... come to think of it, Viper at Six Flags was kinda cool."

I nom nom nom-inate this headline for headline of the year.

Pure comedy gold right there.

Never have I meant it more when I said

LOL

That being said.
Where is the federal government to help handle this crisis? Has Katrina taught us nothing, we dropped the ball when people froze to death in Kentucky over the winter during the white out, now So Cal is burning. What is the Obama administration doing to fix this.

2009-08-31 06:17:48 PM
Yup. The headline just about sums up the stupidity of people when faced with near imminent danger. Just like those in hurricane or tornado regions.

+1

2009-08-31 06:18:04 PM
Yeah that pretty much sums up every single fire disaster we get here. Along with the retards still jogging while the smoke and heat bears down, it's all to the greater good when people like this drop dead.

/get off my freeway

What's there to fix?

Fire is the natural part of the land renewal process in California.

The local and state government have it under control.

+1 subby- I laughed. And then felt bad. Headline is perfect though.

Seriously though, I hope our Farkers out in Cali aren't wasting their time on Fark and are getting the hell out of there.

I think it's "And Ever and Ever," usually used in conjuction with "BFF," for the message "Best Friend Forever And Ever And Ever."

Has the state requested specific resources? Or is California the clusterfark that Louisiana was and doesn't even know what the need in predictable emergency events like wildfires in CA are?

+1 subby! Comedy gold!

Good luck to the L.A. Farkers! We're just waiting our turn for the yearly urban renewal days down here in San Diego.

Thanks, that makes me wanna go kick a teenager in the clam. How can you claim something is forever and then tack on the "and ever and ever"?

Why not just put "ad nauseum", cuz it's making my lunch want to come back for a repeat performance?

California can handle this without the feds getting involved. This happens every year somewhere. It's the nature of the landscape. of course a few pyro's ruin it for everybody. Oh yeah, when fire guys say GTFO, you GTFO!!!

jdmac: Where is the federal government to help handle this crisis?

Hmm. I wonder if the National Forest Service has firefighters of their own...the state forestry officials do.

Either way, things seem to be doing as well as can be expected. No need to bring the feds in and fark everything up.

So ... people should seek refuge from tornadoes by going outside?

FTFA: Over the weekend, three people who refused to evacuate were badly burned when they were overrun by flames, including a couple who had sought refuge in a hot tub, authorities said.

How fitting...

Funny until the end. I find the term DIAF to be pretty damn poor taste if not outright offensive.

But then again as a firefighter I've had to deal with people who did so my perspective is a bit different. Pictures on the internet can't match reality.

Read this subby and maybe you'll see how unfunny you are. (new window)

Do you even know where the phrase started?

2009-08-31 06:28:14 PM
Unfortunate for all of these folks involved, hopefully the situation improves. The best you can do if you live in such a dry fire zone is to maintain a proper defensible space and invest in some means of above ground water storage. Otherwise, you're toast eventually.

Is this the same fire from 100 years ago or the one burning 100 years from now? It burns every year I don't care. If its close to your house I feel sorry 4 you ( no I don't) MOVE.
