I want to go through the thread and thank everyone for their kind thoughts, but I'm not sure I'll have time before the thread dissipates... So I'll thank you all generally now and try to get more personal later...

Congrats to those who knew where Kestra's name came from. In one ep of TNG, Deanna Troi learns that she had an older sister Kestra who died when she (Deanna) was a baby. Her mother had repressed the memory. I chose that name for a reason. In Dec 1994, I had a 2.5yo calico named Zilly (short for Godzilla). She died very suddenly of urinary problems (rare in a young female cat). I had a big sad, and needed a kitten to cheer me up. When I thought about Zilly, I remembered a line from that episode: "To celebrate her life, not mourn it." So when I got my new kitten I named her Kestra, so that whenever I explained her name, I'd be telling people about Zilly and keeping the memory of her alive. See, it's still working. :)

/It's been a good day, apart from being one cat short. I made approximately one million cookies and now we're playing Empire Builder - the game where you get crayons and millions of dollars.
