I didn't see Crossroads, but come on, doesn't that voting just look like it smacks of anti-Britney backlash, and not actual bad filmity? All of the films on the list are relatively mainstream, and although Ecks vs. Sever was pretty god damn horribawful there has to be some shiatty indy movie that came out thats monumentously worse.

2003-03-05 04:33:26 PM
I have to say I'm more than a little dissapointed that Battlefield Earth is no where to be found on any of the lists.

2003-03-05 04:38:19 PM
Whiskeyzimm

Battlefield Earth is on the 2000 list. This was the 2002 list.

I agree with Fishbulb; there's no way that many people saw Crossroads in the theater or bothered to rent it. Especially IMDB frequenters.

2003-03-05 04:41:15 PM
This list is totally based on the anti-(insert name) factor. I mean, seriously, Attack of the Clones wasn't the best movie of the year, but it surely wasn't worse than Rollerball or Swept Away.

2003-03-05 05:09:30 PM
Signs? The last ten minutes sucked but I wouldn't put it on the same list as Rollerball and Swept Away.

And Battlefield Earth was so bad that it should be on the list every year.

2003-03-05 05:40:30 PM
Spiderman worst visual effects?

I beg to differ!

2003-03-05 05:41:54 PM
anyone else notice that Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers was on the worst names list?

2003-03-05 05:42:38 PM
attack of the clones was awful, but i really don't think you can say it had bad visual effects. And The 2 Towers? What the fark? did they even watch the movie? If your into it or not, 2 Towers had kick arse effects. Gollum? hello?

2003-03-05 05:43:02 PM
But I think we can ALL agree that Hayden Christiansen (Anakin Skywalker)was the worst actor of the year! :D

That acting ruined the movie for me. What a stiff.

2003-03-05 05:43:13 PM
actually Spider-Man visual effets are pretty bad, that's not to say i dont like the movie, cause i like it

2003-03-05 05:43:21 PM
I hate this list almost as much as I hate the razzies or People's 50 most beautiful people.

They do NOT pick from the crop of the worst movies - they pick the movies with the most publicity, star power, etc; basically, whatever was in the news the most.

Before I even opened the link, I knew Episode II would be up for something in every category, because it's painfully easy to take the movies that made the most money/had the most fanfare, and crap on them. Ugh.

2003-03-05 05:43:42 PM
This is just bunch of nerds who were pissed off because George Lucas didn't email them directly to ask them what they wanted to be in Episode II.

Episode 2 wasn't the best move made, but it certainly wasn't the worst.

2003-03-05 05:43:56 PM
I agree with most stuff. Crossroads was awful, I hated the Die Another Day tune and Vin Diesal is most definitly one of the worst actors ever.

But Spiderman wasn't a bad movie. Anyone seen that appaling moment in the Matrix trailer where he jumps on the moving car? How fake....

2003-03-05 05:44:07 PM
and i liked Star Wars epII so sue me

2003-03-05 05:44:17 PM
I would have to say the Scorpion King had to be the worst hyped peice of garbadge I have sen in years, The Rock should stay in wrestling where I don't have to look at him.

2003-03-05 05:44:40 PM
ShaneSpear:

Exactly. SWEPII wasn't great, but that voting is solely because it's a bad SW film, not necessarily a bad film in itself.

2003-03-05 05:44:56 PM
Nick15: " This is just bunch of nerds who were pissed off because George Lucas didn't email them directly to ask them what they wanted to be in Episode II.

Amen to that. Also other bullshiat things like Gangs of new york even being on there. Stupid people should be round up and trolled.

Mono...D'oh! :
Signs? The last ten minutes sucked but I wouldn't put it on the same list as Rollerball and Swept Away.

That movie was terrible from start to finish. Joaquin Phoenix acting was comically abyssmal.

2003-03-05 05:45:53 PM
I finally saw "signs" yesterday and thought it sucked. Am I the only one?

2003-03-05 05:46:12 PM
I thought Signs was good.

2003-03-05 05:46:28 PM
Your favorite movie/actor/director/anything sucks.

2003-03-05 05:46:28 PM
Gangs of New York worst screenplay? Thank god I have no respect whatsoever for the IMDB.

2003-03-05 05:46:33 PM
Christ, what a bogus list. Looks like a bunch of the "It's popular so therefore I gotta hate it" crowd decided to vote.

2003-03-05 05:46:43 PM
Crossroads was abominally awful. I watched it at the Alamo drafthouse in Austin. It was shown as part of Mister Sinus THeater 3000, a MST3K parody. They ripped the movie from stem to stern, and laughing at it with others was the only way to enjoy it. I felt so sorry for anyone who saw it the traditional way.

And Signs is on that list? I thought that movie was great. True, it had an underwhelming ending and was no Unbreakable. But it was still well done and funny and dramatic. Not to mention the style and attitude was excellent throughout. This movie was not about payoff but about the journey to the payoff. The problem is that everyone expects another 6th Sense, complete with a great twist. Me, I enjoy the movie as it comes and appreciate the subtle details.

Crossroads sucked. And if you actually thought it was a good movie, I hereby flame you and bring your intelligence into question.

2003-03-05 05:46:50 PM
I didn't understand the hatred for the screenplay to Gangs of New York. I didn't see too many faults with the screenplay, considering the movie in its 8-hour entirety would have sealed up any holes in plot. That movie got a lot of negative attention, which leads me to believe that no one actually saw a movie called "Extreme Ops". Except for me, of course. Total piece of sh*t.

2003-03-05 05:46:58 PM
I agree this is from overhype and not bad movies. I kind of agree with crossroads, but I would not have said the worst. it was bad but not the worst

I like episode 2 more then 1 but also think they are only related to the orginals in only name and characters. it is like two differnt series

2003-03-05 05:46:59 PM
Did they only vote on 12 movies? I somehow doubt Lord of the Rings could be considered "Worst" special effects of 2002.

2003-03-05 05:47:30 PM
I'm guessing it's guys like that comic book dude who are placing these votes. Those guys that like to nitpick about tiny little things in movies based on books just to seem intelligent.

"Aragorn falling off a cliff? Worst. Tolkien. Ever."

2003-03-05 05:48:01 PM
^ oops

RepRev:

How dare you besmirch the Matrix. The shot is absolutely perfectly done (go to thematrix.com and watch it in slo mo all you want) and completely believable when you consider that they're agents and they're supposed to have incredible powers.

2003-03-05 05:49:06 PM
I haven't seen a single movie on the list, regardless of the category it fell in. I guess I must have good taste.

2003-03-05 05:49:08 PM
The only ones I saw that I agree with are both Best Supporting "winners" and Best Song. Unlike most of the people who voted, I'm not snarking on a film I haven't seen.

How on earth did Ewan McGregor get 13 votes for Worst Supporting Actor in Episode II? His scenes on Kamino and Geonosis were the only totally cringe-free ones in the movie!

2003-03-05 05:49:35 PM
Dude, cross reference this list with the Best Of 2002 list. Peter Jackson is on the Best Director and the Worst Director list.

2003-03-05 05:49:51 PM
AND WTF? WHERE THE FARK IS FEAR.COM (2001 maybe?)

2003-03-05 05:50:20 PM
The list is wrong because I say it is!

2003-03-05 05:50:38 PM
Hayden whatever sucked so bad he could pull the moon out of its orbit.

What was Lucas THINKING?

2003-03-05 05:50:48 PM
See, if you're going to do a best of/worst of sort of list, you need to define the group taking the poll. It would be really interesting to see, oh, for example, how famous directors rated the year's worst movies, but instead we get this. The anti-Britney people are voting against Britney. The die-hard Star Wars fans who feel betrayed by George Lucas are voting against Star Wars. The people who are sick of The Lord of the Rings are voting against Peter Jackson. Meh.

2003-03-05 05:51:25 PM
I don't care what you say. I LIKED "8 Mile" and I thought Marshall was pretty damn good in it.

And Zebo needs a hug.

2003-03-05 05:51:46 PM
That poll must have been filled with Lord of the Rings geeks. There's no way that you could argue that Attack of the Clones was worse than most of the movies below it.

2003-03-05 05:53:04 PM
Take a look at their best list--best picture is by far Lord of the Rings. I think that along with the usual low credibility of the IMDb tells you everything you need to know about these polls.

2003-03-05 05:53:08 PM
That's weird. I just came to FARK after looking at this.

Anyhow, Scooby Doo should win every category, hands down.

2003-03-05 05:53:21 PM
The list for worst is SO FARKING retarted. More than half the people have been nominated for the academy awards. And some have been mentioned in more than two categories for the same movie!!

/RETARD

2003-03-05 05:53:31 PM
Why is Scooby Doo on there?

I mean, we're not talking Oscar-winning material here, but
it was far from being bad.

I guess most people didn't hit the theatre this year!?

"da da da"

2003-03-05 05:53:44 PM
While some of these are true, a lot of it is stupid. LOTR got a few votes for worth visual effects, worst director, and worst screenplay? C'mon.

Why wasn't that piece of shiat Bond love (and I usually love Bond) up for worst picture?

2003-03-05 05:54:39 PM
What's up with Vin Diesel's crappy acting? He was good in Saving Private Ryan, and in TV interviews he's very well spoken and comes across as a pretty smart guy. But honestly, the roles he takes...Fast and the Furious, XXX...what a waste...

2003-03-05 05:54:54 PM
That list was terrible. Sure some of those movies deserve to be on there but a bunch of movies that made that list were only on there because they were mainstream. Did you check out how many people actually voted for these? If it was in the thousands I would actually consider this list useful but when you have about 200 people voting total for the catagory its pretty sad.

I would really like to see a list of the worst movies/actors/actresses etc etc with some good solid info on why they think that they deserve this horrible award.

No, that's not it...the problem is that 22 people had to have gone to see "Extreme Ops" just to get onto the list of worst movies.

I think they should divide the number of votes for any one of these movies by the total box office gross before ranking them.

2003-03-05 05:55:46 PM
"Signs," like all Shyamalan movies, was boring and sucked much ass.

2003-03-05 05:55:56 PM
ok hold on what. LOTR is up for Worst Title?

I know it's only 2%, but are we supposed to change the name of the book too?

A few comments on this thread:
I farking LOVE Martin Scorcese, but Gangs of New York was terrible.
This list is a bunch of crap.
Signs is good, but not great. M. Night isn't a good actor so I'm not sure why he gave himself such a big role.
That is all.
