She would have been shooting at them on general principle to frighten them (it obviously worked like gangbusters), so she probably didn't even bother to actually take aim at them; how else could you shoot at someone in your doorway and miss? Yes, actually, you can simultaneously be a trigger-happy thug while being shot at, just as you can when no one is shooting at you. In fact, some of us here in America consider being trigger-happy and thuggish to actually be an invitation for us to shoot at you (or much, much worse). Live by the sword, etc.
