After seeing some guy with the last name Humber play for the Colts I was thinking he could change his last name to Number so the back of the jersey would say

Number
85

/Cincy should've let him kick the 23 yarder in the 3rd quarter, too

Wait... Ochocinco kicked the extra point? If anyone finds video, please share with the group. I don't even know what to say. Cool? Shenanigans?

And he did the kickoff for the 2nd half. The game's on NFL Network right now, I'm staying to see the whole thing. But yup, I saw it. It was actually a really good kick!

/does this mean I can draft him as a K?

Oh man, I don't think I can stay up that late! I'm sure they'll play it a couple of more times in the next week. I kinda love that crazy sumbiatch.

The team, doesn't even carry a second kicker on the roster and he's been kicking in practice for a while. He's annoying at times, but this is pretty cool.

Well he did seem to be bored at receiver...
I'm glad he's been eating his Flutie Flakes.

Not a bad kicker. Could've used him at that position at Oregon State a year or two ago...

As much as I loathe the whole ego thingy, that really made my night. He actually is a very good kicker.

I admit it - I love this guy. I think his antics are mistaken for genuine asshattery when it's pretty clear (to me, anyway) that he's just a goofball having a good time.

I will go on record with this, though: When you're having a stinker of a season, you should probably shut your piehole until your game improves. Then, by all means, have at it.

He didn't say all that much last season. That was the year he stunk.

Maybe him talking sh*t makes him better. Or actually being allowed to wear his last name on his jersey. Whatever it is, he's performing well so far.

To echo some other Farkers, not a bad kick. Form's a little dodgy (leans to far back, or doesn't lean forward at least), but that was pretty solid. I wouldn't be surprised if he could hit a 30 yarder no problem. The kickoff wasn't too shabby either.

redmid17: I wouldn't be surprised if he could hit a 30 yarder no problem.

I'm thinkin' he could go 40 pretty easily on that one.

Hell, he can kick off as far as Coutu, who we drafted...and Coutu made a 58 yarder in college.

/hope f*cking Coutu learns to kick off so I can use him as my fantasy K; he's super cheap for salary cap league

40 is definitely in his range, but he pushed it a bit. It might be within a couple of feet on either side of the upright. Kickoffs are a bad example though. I swear Vinatieri can barely get it to the endzone, but he can hit 50+ yarders during games.

The distance looks to me like it would've been good from 40, and I thought it was drifting back up the middle. Gotta give props to 'Cinco for that. He takes things too far sometimes, but he seems to be pretty good-natured and just tries to entertain, for the most part. And yeah, his subsequest kickoff wasn't shabby either, for a position player.

/And I'll just leave this little QB here:

Dang, between this, and Hard Knocks, I'm starting to come around on 85. His twitter can be pretty hilarious, like when he freaked out that a fake Chad Johnson was getting a lot of followers he believed belonged to him. Ah, good stuff.

And "Child Please" is currently funny. I know in a month it will no longer be.

I was going to comment on how, based on the still image in the article, he appears to have decent form. But watching the replay from NFL Network, I'm not so sure. It's not horrible, but it does appear as though he toed the ball. It's like he was attempting to combine soccer-style kicking and the way they did it back in the day.

Yeah, I kinda have to agree with this. Chad is fun to watch, but needs to learn when to joke and when to shut up and play. That said, he is an amazing receiver and a fun player to watch, even when the rest of the team sucks.

I had the volume down on my TV during the game (Criqui and Cross make my ears sad) so I wasn't aware it was Chad at the time. I thought maybe they had a kicker who was wearing a high number, college style. He wasn't too shabby on the kickoff, either.

That's my impression of Chad too. Yes he did get a little pouty last year and his antics were seen as distracting, but in the end you've got an athlete who is genuinely having fun out there and not just an attention whoring jackass who thinks the world revolves around him.

Granted he is an attention whore, but he's an entertaining one.

Dammit I missed this and the video isn't loading for me. I like Chad Johnson and the Bengals will be a good team this year barring another Carson Palmer injury. They have a pretty decent defense now and the offesne can put up some points. That's going to be one scary division.

Wow, that wasn't bad. I wouldn't put him out there for a game winning 55 yarder or anything, but it must be nice to know you've got that if you just plain lose all your kickers somehow. I've heard Chad say that soccer is actually his favorite game to play and what do you know, he wasn't joking.

Wonder how well he punts? If decent, you could just put him out there and get everyone thinking you're going to fake it half the time.

Have to give Gino Cappelletti his due here, former all time leading scorer for the New England Patriots (Boston Patriots at the time), as a Receiver / Kicker, with some QB sprinkled in his early career and played some d-back...Had 3 interceptions in one game. AFL MVP one year, 5 time probowler or allstar or whatever they had back then. Averaged over 9 points per game for 6 straight years, only player in the history of the AFL/NFL to do this. Now he's among the tandem that make up the voice of the New England Patriots.

...Just in case you want to hear about a similar guy whose on-field performance outweighed his off-field antics. Chad Johnson is just overrated. Athletes need to keep their mouths in line with their performance.

And secondly, Cincinnatti looked very good in flashes yesterday, making some plays on both sides of the ball. I know it's only preseason, but they look to be on the way back up this year. Tough division, though.

Wes Welker did this during a real game when Olindo Mare was hurt, also a FG if I recall correctly.

Which is a nice thing to have available if Gostkowski is hurt in a game.
