FTFA - At one point, confronted by an audience member holding a picture of President Obama defaced to make Obama look like Hitler who asked how he could support Nazi policies, Frank asked "on what planet do you spend most of your time?" When asked if he would respond to the question, he said "trying to have a conversation with you would be like trying to argue with a dining room table."

Okay, maybe not the most professional response he could've given, but sometimes you've gotta be frank with people just to get through to them.

FTFA - When accused along with Obama and others of being secretly in favor of a single-payer health system, Frank responded "It's been twenty-one years since I had a secret."

Oh, SNAP!

It's funny, because this is utterly ridiculous and Frank is entirely right to admonish this idiot. However, he is Barney Frank, so this will be conservative outrage number 1 first thing in the morning after Malkin or someone stays up all night twisting this into 2000 words so they can collect a paycheck this week.

If that woman did have a sliver of a point to make in all her whargarbl, she lost her chance to get a rational response when she starts off with all that Nazi/Hitler stuff. She got the response she deserved... mockery and derision.

Barney Frank has the best one-liners of anyone in Congress. Now if he could just start directing them at Pelosi and Reid, maybe something would get done.

2009-08-19 12:29:02 AM
I rarely agree with Barney Frank, except on social issues... but dammit, it is great to see a politician to call a moron a moron.

Most congressmen would respond with something like "while I respect that you have an opinion, blah blah blah", and Barney Frank would say something like "the only thing dumber than your idea is that you thought it was rational enough to speak".

2009-08-19 12:50:55 AM
Capitalist1: Way to sidestep having to answer an uncomfortable question, there, Bahneh.

Just so we're clear, this is the "uncomfortable question" that 'Senator' Frank "sidestepped":

They say we need to limit Medicare expenditures in order to do that, in order to reduce the deficit. That's the origin of this policy. This is the T-4 policy of the Hitler, of the Hitler policy of 1939, where he said certain lives are not worth living, certain people we should not spend the money to keep them alive. . . . Why do you continue to support a Nazi policy, as Obama has expressly supported this policy, why are you supporting it?

And, for some further info, here is just a little bit of information about Hitler's T-4 program:

Between December 1939 and August 1941, about 50,000 to 60,000 Germans-children and adults-were secretly killed by lethal injections or in gassing installations designed to look like shower stalls. It was a foretast of Auschwitz. The victims were taken from the medical institution and put to death.... (Never to Forget, New York:HarperCollins, 1976:131.) (source)

Now, can you please tell us how 'Senator' Frank should respond to a question that compares a (relatively modest, by world standards) health insurance reform plan to a Nazi plan that intentionally killed 50,000-60,000 people, and was (in part) an effort to test methods that would later be used to kill millions more? What sort of answer would not be "sidestepping" the question?

A kick from the table's legs?

To be specific, my position was that; tripping over my sister's dog and falling to the floor in my own dining room was sufficiently humiliating. However, the dining room table's position was that; it was not humiliating enough and that I should bash my shoulder on the edge of the table during the fall in order to be properly humiliated. I conceded the point to the dining room table.

Then again, in four or five months, when the argument comes up about whether or not the table serves a greater function as a piece of dining room furniture or as a few hours of heat in the fireplace, we'll reevaluate who is the more persuasive.

Thank you Barney Frank. I don't believe Congresspeople and Senators of either party should be venturing away from discussing with the loud, idiotic folk, but directly noting the level of insanity which promotes such fantastically repugnant notions and the lack of ability to discourse with such folk. How would we be able to differ those staged townhall meetings from those with representatives genuinely interested in hearing an unfiltered question from their constituency when in the audience are folk shouting meaningless phrases, phantom provisions, and simple stupidity?

I don't know of really any person siding with the protesters who has a cognizant opposition to health care reforms, but such oppositions do exist and should be heard.

Barney Frank's outreach program.

2009-08-19 06:43:09 AM
There's a certain deliciousness in the fact that the main complainer in the video is a LaRoucher. Note that she asserts the policy in question 'is already on the way out, defeated by LaRouche'. Then why bring it up, crazy lady? She feels the need to promote the values of her organization: good old Lyndy's no longer a person, he's been institutionalized, and his organization has assumed a life of it's own and she feels the need to propagate its message in whatever forum she has access to.

They are a very typical cult of personality, the LaRouchers, and it's awfully ironic they are invoking other cults of personality, specifically Hitler and the Nazis (and yah, certain populist aspects of Obama), in what they oppose. I'd draw some broad brush strokes here between this crazy lady and recent neocon tactics, but I wouldn't get very far since every reasonable conservative has disowned you-know-who and I'd just be back-baiting the underbridge dwellers.

Two years ago:

Today, President Bush rode his lawn-mower out to the edge of his property and told Cindy Sheehan "Arguing with you is like arguing with his kitchen table, I am not interested."

OMG what a horrible man who is too stupid to debate what is an obviously illegal war (despite the fact that it was legally voted for)

Modern Day:

Today, Rep Barney Frank told a constituent asking a health care question; "Arguing with you is like arguing with his kitchen table, I am not interested."

OMG what a smart man, that was an obviously stupid question.

Obvious - the reason given by people who really can't come up with any actual reasons. Not to say that the question wasn't stupid, but he just gave them exactly what they wanted. Now they have "proof" that no one is listening to them.

Capitalist1: Way to , there, Bahneh.

What value proposition does the Insurance industry bring to health care?

Please take your time, think this question through and then sidestep that uncomfortable question.

Certainly, as a fellow capitalist, we want the best value for our money. So, I'm sure you will provide an analysis of what value proposition the Insurance industry brings to health care. Because, otherwise - you'd look just like the woman in the Barney video.

This woman got totally pwned. When he starts ripping her, the camera goes to her and she is like, "Oh man, what did I get myself into? Freedom works told me they were going to fold like a house of cards."

Democrats need to grow a pair or they will do what they always do, fold when it gets to tough.

That was an awesome video to watch.
Also, this was stated earlier, and I most certainly thing it's worth repeating:

For all you who are upset with Frank not answering her "question":

El_Perro: Capitalist1: Way to sidestep having to answer an uncomfortable question, there, Bahneh.

Secret prisons, torture and endless war sounds a lot more like the Nazi's than offering people access to healthcare.

On a funny side note, at least for Canadian Farkers, the Canadian father our nationalized healthcare (and Kiefer Sutherlands grandfather), Tommy Douglas, did his Master's thesis on eugenics and forced sterilization of mentally/physically disabled Canadians.

/changed his mind after a visit to Nazi Germany in 1938.

Of course the Big Difference is that Cindy Sheehan was asking a legitimate question We all wanted (and never got) an answer to :

What was the point of the Iraq war, for what cause did her son die?

If it was about WMDs then why wasn't it over the minute his own handpicked commission concluded that none existed?

If it was about deposing Saddam, then we should have started shipping the troops home after uday and Qusay were in bodybags and Saddam was caught in his spider hole?

If it was about bringing democracy to Iraq and poltically transforming the Middle East then why weren't we told that ahead of time when we could have had a geniunine national debate about whether it was approopriate to spend blood and treasure on that dubiously achievable objective?

Hold PHIL GRAMM's feet to that fire if you want any satisfaction.
And Phil Gramm was also behind the BCCI cocaine-money-laundering, the Savings & Loan Crisis, the energy deregulation schemes which allowed ENRON to hold America hostage for over a year, and so on... pretty much every major financial or deregulation scandal has had Phil Gramm's bloated smelly thumb deep at the core of it all from germination to full blossom horrorshow.

McCain guru linked to subprime crisis
By LISA LERER | 3/28/08 2:06 PM EDT

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0308/9246.html (pops)

The general co-chairman of John McCain's presidential campaign, former Sen. Phil Gramm (R-Texas), led the charge in 1999 to repeal a Depression-era banking regulation law that Democrat Barack Obama claimed on Thursday contributed significantly to today's economic turmoil.

"A regulatory structure set up for banks in the 1930s needed to change because the nature of business had changed," the Illinois senator running for president said in a New York economic speech. "But by the time [it] was repealed in 1999, the $300 million lobbying effort that drove deregulation was more about facilitating mergers than creating an efficient regulatory framework."

Gramm's role in the swift and dramatic recent restructuring of the nation's investment houses and practices didn't stop there.

A year after the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act repealed the old regulations, Swiss Bank UBS gobbled up brokerage house Paine Weber. Two years later, Gramm settled in as a vice chairman of UBS's new investment banking arm.

Later, he became a major player in its government affairs operation. According to federal lobbying disclosure records, Gramm lobbied Congress, the Federal Reserve and the Treasury Department about banking and mortgage issues in 2005 and 2006.

During those years, the mortgage industry pressed Congress to roll back strong state rules that sought to stem the rise of predatory tactics used by lenders and brokers to place homeowners in high-cost mortgages.

For his work, Gramm and two other lobbyists collected $750,000 in fees from UBS's American subsidiary. In the past year, UBS has written down more than $18 billion in exposure to subprime loans and other risky securities and is considering cutting as many as 8,000 jobs.

If anyone is unable to watch the video, here is a transcript of the part referenced in the headline:

Q: Why do you continue to support a Nazi policy as Obama has expressly supported this policy; why are you supporting it?

Frank: When you ask me that question I'm going to revert to my ethnic heritage and answer your question with a question. On what planet do you spend most of your time?

You want me to answer the question? Yes. As you stand there with a picture of the President defaced to look like Hitler and compare the effort to increase health care to the Nazis, my answer to you is as I said before, it is a tribute to the First Amendment that this kind of vile, contemptible nonsense is so freely propagated. Ma'am, trying to have a conversation with you would be like trying to argue with a dining room table. I have no interest in doing it.

The LaRouchers were out in force yesterday, canvassing on the streetcorners in a square near my house. Their signs said, "Give President Obama a Straitjacket". One fresh-faced young man with a good amount of hipster stubble asked me if I wanted to sign up. I said, "Haha, don't think so." Then I saw the name LaRouche on the signs, and immediately erupted in peals of derisive laughter.

I mean, WTF? Lyndon LaRouche was a joke back in 1986? What are they doing back?

Kudos to him for calling it what it is....

The rhetoric of these people is beyond the pale, and they just don't get it. Her question leaned towards conspiracy crazy, but for the most part many (not everyone) on the right has fallen into the same trap.

This trap for the right is believing in the free market as an end unto itself. The theory of the free market (if I read my Adam Smith correctly) was centered on said free market as a means that would lead to an improved society as an end through competition. They seem to skip this and accept profligate corporate entities in the name of the free market with no concern for ethical obligations of stewardship, or social welfare (until it effects their own life).

/I see the LaRouche people up in Harvard Square from time to time... good for a kick
/If anyone has a better distilled view of laissez-faire market politic feel free to correct me

Jackson Herring: keylock71: With that little smack down and your continued support of Fall River's fight against Hess/Weaver's Cove Energy, you've secured my vote again.

Yes it sure is wonderful that we get to gaze upon the wreckage of the old Brightman Street Bridge for the rest of our lives, isn't it? =p

You know, I have a special place in my heart for that old piece of crap bridge... I grew up in that neighborhood, even jumped off that bridge a couple of times when I was much younger.

I hear they're going to make it a pedestrian bridge, but who knows what'll really happen? The new Brightman St Bridge is looking good though, and I won't miss waiting every time some jackass decides to bring their sailboat up the river.

I still think it was a nice little "fark you" to Hess/Weaver's Cove when they got that language about the Brightman St Bridge included in that bill.

During the bailout debates, a few R's made comment about how they did not vote for the bill because they felt Speaker Pelosi gave an excessively partisan speech, to which Rep Frank replied: "Give me those twelve people's names, and I will go talk uncharacteristically nicely to them, and tell them what wonderful people they are, and maybe they'll think about the country."

If you are going to go and heckle Rep. Frank, you had better bring your A-Game; he'll have his with him.

Democrats need to grow a pair or they will do what they always do, fold when it gets to tough.

What's funny is that now a gay man is more macho than the rest of the Democratic Congress.

These people are completely out of it. How do you think BARNEY FRANK would be a good target of those tactics? The only way someone would think "I can get one over on Rep. Frank" is if that person knows absolutely nothing about him.

That just shows they don't want debate or compromise, their only goal is to obstruct any reform no matter what the merit.

This is why I support "reconciliation" now. It is obvious the opposition's only alternative idea is to do nothing.

Here's the thing, though: Reps are quickly learning that, when presented with anyone whose tone of voice ascends one octave while asking a question, they're better off rhetorically striking first. Yes, interesting and engaging debate is getting lost. Yes, I'd prefer a more rational, to say nothing of polite, form of communication. However, when someone starts throwing bricks... what are you gonna do? The second one of these nutters began their wind-up, I'd preempt them by saying something along the lines of "Oh, look how nice! I totally agree. I see no fault in what Frank did. When people start spouting insanity they need to be shouted down and put in their place.

And, I am not looking for a polite, gentlemanly discussion. I just wanna know what this thing is all about. What it means to ME and how it will effect my life. But unfortunately, the people in the know are distracted by having to deal with this bullcrap. Thats all.

I think that right there is where the Obama Administration failed in this debate... They took too long to start countering these nuts with the facts about the proposal. From the beginning, the dems should have been out there explaining their proposals in plain, simple language.

The GOP seems to have known what they wanted to do right from the get-go -derail the conversation- and their plan succeeded, unfortunately.

I'm still not convinced that the proposed plan is the right way to go, and I would have loved the GOP to have been putting the same amount of energy into promoting an alternative plan that they've put into getting the retards in their party all riled up. I mean the GOP alternative is pretty slim on details, but it seems like it has a couple of decent ideas in it at any rate.

All this white noise is bullshiat and isn't doing any citizen, regardless of political affiliation, any good.

I'm sorry, sir, but chapter 6, subchapter 22, clause 3 of the Republican Bylaws states you are clearly out of line. Proper deference and contrition are to be shown to the GOP by appearing on at least two Fox commentary shows, and the Rush Limbaugh program, and publicly flagellating yourself therein.

El_Perro: Capitalist1: (quoting the loon): This is the T-4 policy of the Hitler, of the Hitler policy of 1939, where he said certain lives are not worth living, certain people we should not spend the money to keep them alive. . . .

Ironically, this is true every day already. Alcoholics are denied liver transplants routinely, Insurance companies refuse to cover heroic measures that stand little chance of doing more than prolonging life for weeks or months, parents sadly pull the plug on brain-dead children.

Is it worth spending hundreds of thousands in tax (or shareholder) dollars for a multiple organ transplant for a 90-year old man who is unlikely to live more than another 5 years no matter how good the surgical outcome?

Unpleasant choices need to be made sometimes. Medical resources are finite, and this has probably been happening since the time of Hippocrates.

I have an elderly relative that keeps sending me emails asking, "where's the REAL document. The one the Dems passed around BEFORE the bill was written??" She keeps trying to convince me that the bill isn't the REAL agenda. That and she is convinced Medicare is NOT in ANYWAY a government program because she has to pay for it every month out of her Social Security check. There really is no arguing with some people. I finally told her last night if she wants to have a civil and reasoned discourse about this I'm more than happy to oblige, but otherwise she can stfu and get back in the kitchen.

Nah, this was it in action.

The kicker was this was an appearance at event he was asked to come speak at, and not a town hall meeting.

The idiots rallied to flood this event and make him look bad, so he said sure, got a bigger room to get em all in, started talking about the facts in the debate, and made them all look like imbeciles while berating them with his funny lisp for their stupidity.

Hmm... Okay, N.B., I am not condoning either use of hyperbole, but I just want to stack them up side to side.

Obama is Hitler because he wants to increase access for health care financing to more Americans.
Bush is Hitler because he illegally invaded a sovereign nation, authorized torture, and helped foment a culture of fear.

As a Jew, I think that calling anyone Hitler dangerously equivocates mass genocide with the outrage of the day, but if you can't see a difference in application between our present and former presidents, then wow.

Meh. I hear you and yeah there are reasons to be upset about that and all that jazz... however there are just elements of Free Speech(tm) that tell me the speaker or protester is really not interested in any form of discussion or discourse. One could have a protest in favor of sunshine and kittens, but if you burn an American flag I'm not so likely to want to be on your side; likewise whenever anyone pulls out any sort of Nazi analogy.

Back in '04, I was part of a crew that traveled from NY to PA to canvas some for the D's up and down the ticket. Anyway, one of my fellow canvassers was a lovingly busty woman wearing a t-shirt that said "fark Bush". They're odd ones, the LaRouche people. 99% of the time they spew purest insanity. Then there are those rare occasions where they turn up some excellent research and unearth something genuine and frightening.

The only political enigma I can think of that even comes close is Pat Buchanan. He is way, way off to the right, as partisan as they get. Yet I have never once known him to lie, spin, distort, or to place partisan loyalties above his principles. It's pretty much unheard of in politics for anyone to maintain that level of honesty and remain as long as he has.

I'm Catholic. Who farking cares? Hitler hated Catholics and Jews equally. He just knew the Catholics would be harder to round up so he started with the Jews. Blacks and cripples were after that. Then it was re-gifters.

Yeah, right. The history of the Third Reich is replete with stories of government officials raiding parishes in Bavaria, making lists of all known Catholics, rounding up Catholics into terrible ghettoes before shipping them off in boxcars by the millions to labor camps, never to be heard from or seen again. And who can forget Goebbels's famous propaganda pieces on The Papist Menace, reminding good Germans that the Mary-worshippers were lurking just around the corner speaking in Latin and eating fish on Fridays.

Yes, there were other minorities and oppressed groups who died as a result of Nazi racial and ideological purity policies. No, the Catholics were not among them. While the Third Reich was decidedly cruel toward many people who were not Jews, and not exactly fond or solicitous of German Catholics, the persecution of Jews in the Third Reich was one of the more disturbing aspects of the regime, and will probably be their legacy for eternity.

It doesn't take a Ph.D. in European History to know that the Jews had had a horrible time in Europe for centuries - stolen from, exiled, forced to convert, murdered, walled off in ghettoes or hidden from sight in shiatty village reservations, and used as a scapegoat by any king who wanted to create a diversion.

The shocking thing about Nazi anti-semitism and why that story is the most powerful is that in the years leading up to the Third Reich, Germany was probably the "safest" place to be a Jew in the Western World. Jews were allowed to study in universities, pursue careers in professions generally closed to them, own property and live among the general population, and not be reminded every day that they were outsiders. Late 20's Berlin was much like modern New York. Germany was a relatively tolerant, progressive, inclusive society that valued education, the arts, and other democratic values.

And then in the midst of political and economic turmoil, the country lost its collective mind and put its trust in a charismatic racist and his band of thugs, who not only revisited the hatreds of the past, but pursued racist ends through a terrifying level of organization and technology. Rather than a pogrom here, a Kristallnacht there, he used the economic and technological might of Germany to create a massive infrastructure of death factories, erasing half of Europe's Jewish population in less than a decade.

Were there horrible Nazi policies toward Communists, homosexuals, blacks, and the mentally ill. Absolutely. But they were not pursued with the insane fervor with which the Nazis pursued the goal of Jewish extermination.

And that's what people typically think of when the spectre of Hitler is raised in the early 21st century. 'Hitler' or 'Nazi' are shorthand for those who appeal to modern society's basest instincts and wish to murder people by the millions for the crime of being born. It's a conversation-stopper, and its use in a context other than genocide and bigotry is and ought to be offensive to all people. It is particularly offensive to the Jews, because it trivializes the systematic extermination of entire peoples.

To refer to a policy of health care reform as a "Nazi" policy simply because you don't like it is categorically insane, adds nothing to the conversation, and trivializes the Holocaust.

And yes, the Jews take it personally. Many of us have relatives who died in the camps. Many of us know survivors who suffered hell on earth. How many Catholics can say that? (Certainly not Benedict XVI...)

/first they came for the re-gifters?

Right. That's exactly what I said. Except no wait, it wasn't, not once. Is your reading comprehension really this bad? The reason I stated my ethnicity is, because like Congresman Barney Frank, it influences how I feel about people using Hitler's name and visage to disparage political opponents. But you're right, all us Juden have telepathic insight into Hitler's mind. Shh, don't tell anyone.

YOUR MY PROBLEM farkFACE.

Why? We agree with each other. You just got all snippy because you made a false assumption about my motives.

I suppose I was wrong to infer motives based on what was communicated instead of what was thought, which I should've known anyway because of the aforementioned Jewish telepathy. We also have horns, you know.

Your motives, as communicated in your 'conversation' with me, seems to be that Jews shouldn't talk about how being Jews affects the way they feel about hearing Hitler's name used as a rhetorical device to demonize political opposition, because lol Hitler was a self-hating Catholic?

Or has my telepathy failed to divine your oh-so-pure motives?

You're fun. I like you.

False. If you read Mein Kampf (have you?), it's clear that Hitler's hatred for the Jews is unique. He has an anecdote about how he had Jewish friends growing up and had not really considered the Jews to be inherently "un-German," until he saw some Hasidic Jews in Vienna with unusual clothing, unkempt beards, and peculiarly unGerman mannerisms. He then segues into an explanation about how all Jews, even the assimilated ones, are inherently alien to German society, and that the assimilated Jews are dangerous to Germany because despite their outwardly "normal" appearances, inside they're all genetically incompatible with Aryan values and their very existence, whether religious or not, threatens the strength of the German Volk.

Hitler was always fond of Bavaria, a state in Germany which was largely Catholic, and while he may not have been fond of the Catholic Church and its theology, there was no inherent Catholic race pollution in his theories. A Catholic could forsake the Church and become a "good German." A Jew was just a Jew.

Logically, your premise should be that Hitler hated Catholics and Jews equally at the time he wrote Mein Kampf. You have yet to establish that he never changed his mind, to say nothing of whether your reading of Mein Kampf is at all correct.

Certainly once the chips were down and it came time to implement policy your premise had ceased to be true.

No. If you read carefully I have a much higher opinion of Mein Kampf.

No comparison. Mein Kampf is a historically significant book everyone should read.

Obama's book is a empty rhetoric and family trivia that no one should read and expect to be smarter.

Okay. You're done, Beat it.

His written words say he disliked Jews and Catholics equally. This is the teaching of history whether you agree or not.

Catholics just haven't made a living off it...

True... the usual retards around here aren't generally interested in politics unless it pertains to their welfare or disability checks.

I had to spend the whole day yesterday in NB District Court on jury duty. Got picked for a criminal case - unlawful discharge of a firearm within 500 ft of a dwelling in North Dartmouth. Two hours of testimony from some of the most inarticulate cops I've ever heard in my life (and that's big considering my exposure to cops is usually limited to the Fall River PD). The accused was also the husband of a Dartmouth cop... 'course the whole charge had to be dropped as the state failed to submit any evidence about the neighborhood (Alden Rd.) in order to establish that the firearm was indeed fired within 500 ft of a residence.

I love seeing my tax dollars at work... after that my retard tolerance had gone waaaayyyy down by the time I ran into the Lyndon LaRouche supporters.

Sure, if you have no critical thinking skills or any ability to man up and say "yeah, that was dumb and/or insensitive of me to say", I guess so.

What if he'd never written Mein Kampf? Would it still be "irrelevant" that he had millions of Jews exterminated? If not, what about having written Mein Kampf makes it irrelevant?

About 4,000 Catholic priests were known to have been sent to the concentration camps. Given it's 4 orders of magnitude away from what happened to the Jews and was confined to Bishops and Priests, rather than regular church-goers, I'm going to stipulate "approximately 0" was an understatement but it's on a whole other scale from the Jewish holocaust.

Here's a link (new window) to the end of a decent text on the Nazis' relations to the Church.

/Numerous quotes in that text from Hitler and high Nazi officials that indicate his hatred of Catholics was nowhere in the same league as that for the Jews. He wanted to end Catholicism not exterminate Catholics in general. It's a little complicated by the fact that lots of Slavs, whom he intended to exterminate after consolidating power in Eastern Europe and once they were no longer needed as slaves, are Catholic.

AndreMA: El_Perro: Capitalist1: (quoting the loon): This is the T-4 policy of the Hitler, of the Hitler policy of 1939, where he said certain lives are not worth living, certain people we should not spend the money to keep them alive. . .

So, you're in favor of Death Panels then? What's the hold up? Let's get this show on the road.

Oh wait, you where talking about our current Death Panel Program, the insurance companies. Never mind.

Because my premise, that Hitler despised Catholics and Jews equally is supported by Hitler's words.

That Hitler killed more Jews than Catholics is circumstantial evidence that he may have hated Jews more than Catholics but there are many, many other explanations why more Jews were killed.

Since we have no reason to believe Hitler was lying when he said he disliked Jews and Catholics equally we can take them as prima facie fact.

Wow. It's damn refreshing to finally see a politician call these farking retards what they are.

Obama, I hope you're taking notes. You don't have to indulge these idiots. You don't have to compromise with them. You don't have to pretend that you understand their concerns. They are farking idiots who really don't give a shiat about healthcare at all. They've been chomping at the bit to go after you since January and will jump on whatever comes their way, as long as they think it's from you. The whole Birther thing has proven to be a dead end for them so they are moving on to healthcare. That's it.

To be fair, there are valid criticisms of the reforms, but if all we are getting is Nazi comparisons, bullshiat "death panels," and lies about Obama wanting to kill your granny, then fark THEM. They aren't worth the toilet paper that wiped them off of Rush Limbaigh's ass.

Shove these reforms down their farking throats while you still have some political capital left. Sadly, thanks to the gullibility and general ignorance of the American public, it may already be too late.

indylaw: Hitler was always fond of Bavaria, a state in Germany which was largely Catholic, and while he may not have been fond of the Catholic Church and its theology, there was no inherent Catholic race pollution in his theories. A Catholic could forsake the Church and become a "good German." A Jew was just a Jew.

Yep. My mom is from Bavaria, grew up right smack in the middle of WWII, and like her whole family Catholic. My Oma never was sent to a concentration camp but she was awarded the "Mother's Cross" for having seven kids. This award was instituted on December 16, 1938 as part of Hitler's initiative to encourage Aryan population growth, and so only women with pure Aryan families could achieve such awards. (new window) My Oma, a Catholic, sure was Aryan enough to get a "Mother's Cross". I wonder how many Jewish mothers got the "Mother's Cross"?

To compare the plight of the Catholics to that of the jews in Germany durring WWII is intellectually dishonest at its best and total asshat stupidity at its worse. I don't know which you fall under but you are dead wrong on this one dude.

I regret responding to a comment that was from earlier, because it put my comment in the way of the glorious beating that Davey Croquette is taking. This thread has turned a Legendary "OH SNAP!" thread of people getting told. I realized that when I was trying to decide which great comment to include in my profile of people getting shut down, and came to a conclusion that there were too many.

I don't even care if he's just a troll putting in some extra effort before he clocks out for the day. I'm thoroughly enjoying this new conversation because:

A) I get to see some first rate debate ass kicking.

B) I get to learn about a significant event in history from some real life world views.

C) I get to see people from all walks of life coming together in recognizing a dumb-ass for what he is, and reacting together.

It's something special that no one has defended Davey yet. Though that just means he's too inexperienced yet to make multiple accounts.

Davey Croquette: Because my premise, that Hitler despised Catholics and Jews equally is supported by Hitler's words.

Except when it isn't. In a memo from his office to the Papal Nuncio to the Reich in June of 1942, Hitler said "Although the Concordat [of 1933] is outdated at many points, the Führer considers it to be officially in force."

This is, of course, six months after they came up with the "Final Solution" and started wholesale massacres of the Jews. The sum and substance of the Concordat between the Reich and the Vatican is a cordial (hence the word) working relationship designed to allow Catholic Bishops to lend support to the Reich.

German Catholics under Hitler were never prevented from attending Mass nor were they persecuted to any extent. Their Priests and Bishops were farked with quite a lot but mostly not exterminated.

So he may have said in the 1920s that he hated Catholics but by the 30s he was repeatedly publicly assuring them that the Reich was cool with them. Later, the official policy of the Reich was live-and-let-live so long as the Church in Germany didn't openly object to the Nazis' other policies.

Sorry, but "why do you support Nazi policies", when what is being proposed is nothing even REMOTELY close to what is being proposed is not a "sincere and meaningful" question. keylock71: I had to spend the whole day yesterday in NB District Court on jury duty....

Ya. The last time I served was in Taunton. Seven kids (with six lawyers) charged with b&e, basically caught in the yard of a house that there had been a party in. They couldn't establish any of the kids were actually in the house (and this was before CSI, dating it a bit), and they claimed they missed the party and were leaving. But, despite this preponderance of suck, we had to listen to all six lawyers chatter away forever. So even though we had a verdict in five minutes, since they had wasted so much time, we had to come back the next day to say so because it was too late in the day.

Stupid is a cash crop here in the South Coast....

I have two questions for you, and please, feel free to answer them honestly. The first is in direct relation to your statement:

1. What is it, precisely, that the Jews, as a people, did to warrant theft, apartheid, rape, murder and exile in the various nations of Christendom? And is it a defect of culture or genetics? Enlighten me.

The second is more for my own academic curiosity:

2. Do you believe that the Holocaust happened, or is a hoax?

That's a good amount of assumptions you are making not only about what is in it but also about all who have read it.

Xerxes99: Seriously.. will someone from his district tell us all.... Why the fark do you keep re-electing that sack of syphilitic shiat?

Because he gets shiat done for his constituents... and all politics are local.

Your childish insults aside, Frank stays involved with his constituents and while you may disagree with him (and I do on certain issues), he is a smart man, who doesn't mind telling you what he thinks... Something that folks around here can appreciate.

Like I stated above, calling this woman on her obvious bullshiat and his continued support of my city's fight against an proposed LNG terminal in a residential area are why he got my vote last election and will continue to get my vote.

Honestly, since you're not a constituent, your opinion of him means next to nothing to me... no offense meant.

So you've been told.

indylaw: 1. What is it, precisely, that the Jews, as a people, did to warrant theft, apartheid, rape, murder and exile in the various nations of Christendom? And is it a defect of culture or genetics? Enlighten me.

The second is more for my own academic curiosity:

2. Do you believe that the Holocaust happened, or is a hoax?

to answer 2) yes i think it happened.. whats is your point ?

as for question number 1) im not sure why not ask all the people that found it justifiable to rape, murder, kill and etc etc etc...

im going to go head and say culture.. genetics has nothing to do with the situation. a serial rapist COULD have a child that becomes a useful and productive member of the society .

and I dont believe stupidityreligion is transferred genetically:

for example :" The official reason given for driving out the Jews was that they encouraged the Marranos to persist in their Jewishness and thus would not allow them to become good Christians."
reason cited for Their Expulsion from Spain, 1492 CE

"On top of the general Christian suspicion of Jews at the time, when the thousands of French members of the People's Crusade arrived at the Rhine, they had run out of provisions.[7] To restock their supplies, they began to plunder Jewish food and property while attempting to force them to convert to Christianity.[7]"

replaces jews in above citations with blacks, muslims, chinese or any other group that in general while meeting White people for the first time were treated like animals or lesser beings and you pretty much have most of the recorded history....

Now let me ask you this,

do you see any other religious group of people treating anyone else unfairly because of what has happened in the past ?
NOT religious excuses
, but history as a reason to do what they do now ?
