Well, Im not so gud at this ackshully...... Carl came to my fiance' and I emaciated and with some horrific wounds on both sides of his neck. He ran from us for about a year, and having a collar on, we thought he had a home. Well, not so much. He finally became hungry and hurt enough that he came to us and we offered food and a home. He's very grateful, and a welcome addition. We already had 3 fat and happy kitters. What's one more????

G'morning caturday Farkers. I have a cat dilema and I do expect a fair amount of snark but some useful advise would help too.

I went on vacation a few weeks ago for 10 days. I took my cat to my Mom's so she'd be taken care of. Well, during my vacation, my sister split from her husband and spent a week at my mother's place with her 3 & 5 year old children. They are cute but holy terrors. They also brought their little dog. My cat being skittish, spent most of the time under my mom's bed in a panic state, only calming down at night to eat, drink, use the box and sleep in the bed with my mom.

I came home and she was still under the bed and I couldn't get near her. she'd his and swatted me a few times drawing blood. I figured that it was because my sister and nephews were still there and it's still an unstable environment so I just came by and talked to her and tried to pet her (all the time laying on the ground next to my mother's bed).

It's now been almost a week since the circus left my mom's place and she still won't come to me. I can understand that she is mad at me for leaving her and then the ensuing ruckus but she sill hides whenever I come over. I get calls all the time from my mom telling me she's hanging out in the living room and on the bed in the spare bedroom and stuff but hen I come by, she just slides under a bed. I try to coax her with some turkey (her fave) but she'll only eat it if I leave the room. It's like I've been disowned.

Anyone have any ideas here? I've had suggestions from getting some gloves and grabbing her and putting her into a carrier to bringing a larger carrier over and having my mom drop her in it (she's good with my mom now.) I'm really bummed and miss my cat. BTW, she's 16 years old if that matters.
Thanks for any help.

Jacob Singer: I don't post here often, but here goes...

The snowshoe in this pic is Linus. It's an old photo, he's two years old now. Anyways, he went missing about a month ago, and I miss him terribly. All three of my cats would go outside after their breakfast (I have a fenced-in back yard, but they can get over the fence if they really want), and one day Linus just disappeared.

I just wanted to post here and thank everyone who posts these amazing pics of their fuzzy families, they always help to cheer me up on a saturday morning.

i hope you find him. :-(

he may just be out and about. i waited QUITE a while for LittleOne AKA Lord Fluffy Bottom to return once; he had been injured and was not ready to seek out my help. it wasn't all that long though.

ouch, ouch, and ouch. i remember my first Caturday without Penelope. sorry my friend. and hope you are feeling better someplace else Radar

/STILL have something in my eye when i hear of other who also are checking out their first catless Caturday

RIP Sweet Penelope. hope your hanging with Radar.

nurdgrrl: Hai!

This my cat Flip T. Cat. She passed on this week after a fight with cancer. Could she have some captions?

I miss you so much, baby bear.

lovely girl.

you too, eh? that is what eventually took Penelope as well. she was fighting kidney issues, but was doing well with that (at least it was in check).

RIP to you too Flip. T. Cat.

dragon34: My Toby has been missing since Aug 3rd. He is an indoor kitty who after 7 years suddenly became very aggressive about getting outside. He's shy, and was never the friendliest kitty, but he loved getting brushed and scratched against the grain of his fur. He's healthy and we thought he was happy. Unfortunately he doesn't like people food, so we can't really bait him, and he won't be seen unless he wants to be seen, so there is really very little we can do except wait and hope. Even if we did see him he wouldn't come to us unless he wanted to.

FrancoFile: Walt_Jizzney: Question to fellow Caturdayers....

I notice most of these pics now have the "icanhazcheezburger.com" logo/watermark on them now...do they simply come here and grab user lolcats and stick their name on it and then post it? Are they the "ebaum" of the feline pic world? Please do explain...

The other way around.

Many people use that site to caption and store their lolcats, because it's free and unlimited.

Many people also see neat lolcats there, and then post them to Fark on Caturday.

This, and also the fact that the LOLcat builder is the easiest way to caption your pictures.

I can do a decent Photoshop, and use my Photobucket account to post (which I do when I post pics of my own kittehs), but unfortunately I do not have the Impact Outline font. I can do a workaround using the regular font and some PS trick, but it doesn't look quite the same. The "Smooch" picture I posted earlier is one I did like that, and it's just a bit off.

This is why I use ICHC. When my lolcat is done, it even gives me a handy link to copy and paste. That's perfect for a lazy arse like me.

I vote for having Mom pop her into a carrier and taking her home. Let her sulk at home where it is just you and her familiar things, and she'll get over her snit in time. I also recommend ignoring her as much as possible during this time until she comes to you.

I've had cats that like to put us in 'punishment mode' when we leave for extended periods, and it usually just takes them a little while with their normal schedule reestablished for things to go back to normal.

Hi all. I've been lurking for years now, and am finally ready to post some damn cats. :) Unfortunately, I'm in a bit of a rush, and I can't remember any of the advice I read on where to host, etc. (Is regular Flickr ok or do you need a pro account?) So I just went straight to the cheezburger...

This is my cat Kestra, a little over a year ago. She's 14 and we found out on Thursday that she's down to 10% kidney function (or less) - in addition to her other health problems. She's at the vet for the day, on an IV, and she'll be back home this evening. We're taking it day by day at this point - she still seems fairly happy and not terribly uncomfortable. As the vet said, "She may surprise us and live for weeks and weeks!"

images.cheezburger.com
moar funny pictures

I hope that works. :) And I think you should be able to access the blank if you come up with something more clever. And I will come back and post happier stories and pics of our other three kitties.

I haven't read all the posts yet this week - I hope everyone else's kitties are healthy and happy.

Kitteh story from a couple of weeks ago:

My BF and I were video chatting on Skype when he heard the mailman, and decided he needed to go the mailbox right away. He took off his Bluetooth headset and left it by his laptop, because sometimes Skype hangs up if he's out of range for very long.

He went out the door to the mailbox, and that moment I saw a shadow pass just at the bottom edge of my screen. The kitty.

Then from the speakers of my laptop, I started to hear tapping and batting sounds, and realized that Sassy was playing with the headset, which is about the size of a large beetle.

The tapping and batting turned quickly to gnawing and crunching, and was becoming distressingly loud.

My BF should have been back already but he wasn't. What could I do? Then I remembered how he disciplines Sassy when she's into mischief. In a firm and loud tone I said,

"SASSY! NO!"

And it worked. She heard me and stopped NOMming the headset. Her little kitty head popped up suddenly into camera view; she looked at me with jewel-blue eyes. I looked back at her, and we each took the other's measure for a moment.

Then the door opened, my BF reappeared, and with swift movements that could only be described as GUILTY, Sassy vanished.

My BF put down the mail, missed the headset, then found it--in two pieces.

There are lots of outdoor kitties in the neighborhood. I've seen lots of them eating the food we left out for Toby, but no Toby (He won't even eat gooshyfood, we've tried all different kinds. Have not yet tried tuna) I have an open offer to try a trap, but with ny luck I'd probably trap the 19 year old kitty next door who likes to sit in our catnip pot and give her a heart attack. Thanks though. I hope we find him too... or more that he finds us. I'm kind of afraid he had a territory dispute with the half feral kitty who hangs out in our yard because it is free of dogs, and feels like he can't come home.

As the vet said, "She may surprise us and live for weeks and weeks!"

there are LOTS of things you can do. first and foremost is diet. then, therapeutically, there is "sub-q's". also, many, many herbs, tinctures, supplements, chinese medicine, acupuncture, et cetera that will help. and when you look up sub-q's, you may think "but that wouldn't be fun for me OR kitty..." you'd be surprised. since the fluids make them feel better, they actually get accustomed to the whole thing rather quickly and associate feeling better with having to sit through it (takes about 15 mins) and it sort of becomes one more bonding ritual.

one of the most interesting things about kidney function is that it CAN return to some degree; one big reason: there is almost certainly inflammation that can be eased and reversed and the nephrons can often be somewhat rehabilitated (vets will tell you that this is not true, but holistic practitioners will say otherwise).

i've got a great deal of experience with this condition and have many left over supplies if you are interested. EIP for you and for anyone else with chronic conditions that i might offer experience to as well.

Penelope would easily still be around today still living on compromised kidneys had she not had other conditions. she was given a few weeks to live at her Dx time and was with me for more than two years after that.

/sending this to your EIP as well as posting here
