Clearly the guy in question was not all there... this does seem like one of the cases where a taser could have been used to prevent a death.

All I'm getting from the article is "cops attempt to subdue nut armed with a screwdriver, fail miserably, and just shoot him."

2009-08-12 04:06:41 PM
this is what happens when your cops usually have nothing more to do than investigate silverware stealing at Friendly's...or drunken frats at UMass

So now they decide not to use a taser?

I guess tasers really are just for torturing unarmed civilians after all...

FTFA:
"another officer released a dog, which mistakenly attacked the policeman" - LOL
"Officer White then released his canine, "but that proved unsuccessful," according to the release." - Understatement
"Joseph M. Ramos Jr., 42, lived with his parents" - 42 and still lived with his parents.

/Used to train attack/guard dogs
//It was my first job

Dartmouth? Too many cops and not enough to do. Delivered pizzas there for 4 years before I got a real job. Amazingly, avoided getting tagged by the fuzz the whole time, even though they were everywhere and I was speeding like a bat out of hell.

I guess if I had a screwdriver in my hand instead of pizzas, I'd be in trouble.

So a K-9 unit mistakes a uniformed police officer for a perp.

And yet we all feel so fine with allowing the dog to circumvent our constitutional rights to search and seizure.

These dogs are so well trained they would never get anything wrong. They would never get cues from their handlers never. and the handlers are the only folks who can interpret said dog behavior. How this stuff ever got OK'd is beyond me.

It is like the k-9 officer from Bridgeport CT i met. His dog was a german shepard that was the most viscous dog i have ever seen. and the cop said he has bitten other cops but that dog was still working.

1. Wake up
2. Drink OJ. Stir in a little bit of vodka if you want.
3. Toast to your good health.
4. Grab a sock and lighter.
5. Stick sock in vodka bottle.
6. Walk/drive to police station.
7. Light sock on fire.
8. Throw vodka+sock into police station.
9. Run.
