Judging by the wrinkles, it not makes you lose weight but must fark with the collagen and elasticity of the skin, hence all the premature and severe facial creasing. I've met a couple of recovered meth addicts over the years and the wrinkles don't completely go away after they've gone back to a healthy weight. They look 5 or 10 years older than they actually are, like heavy smokers.

Does anyone here know what is behind all the meth addicts' teeth falling out? What's up with that? So when they're up for 3 or 4 days straight, they just stop brushing and eat sugar 24/7?

When ever I see the scenes of these people, I keep thinking that if you wanted an enslaved peasant class which will do anything the state will say, start giving people meth. It makes them smaller, hyper so they can work more and they are so messed up they will never organize and revolt no matter how poorly they were treated. Also they live much shorter life spans so you do not need to worry about end of life care. Plus they will willingly give up their children to the state to train as a new generation of raised by the state military dedicated to protecting the ruling class.

The meth is very acidic, causing the teeth to decay much faster. One of the side effects of meth is that you grind your teeth a lot, thus causing them to chip away and fall out.

Okay, I know this is Fark. But I have a question, mainly because I spent the weekend with my cripplingly codependent father in law, and it feels like my gut is eating itself:

His youngest son (27) has been on meth since he was at least 14. Maybe 15. He has also been paying food, clothes, rent, "school,"(questionable whether he goes, there are no receipts), phone, Sirius (??)...etc, etc., ever since he graduated high school. This kid/guy hasn't been able to hold part time jobs and is living off his girlfriend. When FIL visits him, he calls when he's in the driveway so the kid/guy can put anything away and meet FIL outside. It's bizarre.

FIL won't talk to him or confront him about drugs, and we aren't allowed to speak to him (we don't know where he lives, he doesn't answer the phone).

What kills me is that he's on meth and who knows what else. Whenever he is brought up and we suggest/demand that FIL stop enabling/paying for his drugs, he has a list of the same excuses he's used for years. He'll die if he doesn't help. He keeps his promises. He can't let go of his son. If we were in his position, we'd do the same thing.

I'm just at my wits end because it's so destructive. FIL lets his dependency on his son's "affections" get between him and his wife and any one else who disagrees with him. He's right, and we all want his son to die, so he's protecting his son from everybody. And FIL is the last family my husband has, and it kills me to watch this all.

There's nothing you or anyone else can do that's going to make FIL do things differently. Just know that in his heart of hearts, FIL knows what he's doing, and it's probably more painful for him than for anyone else around him.

That's the result I keep coming to. I was just hoping there might be something I was missing. Because the kid is going to die before he's 30 at this rate, and that's going to be devastating for FIL and family.
